    Thanks for the response! Well made video, I've come to the same conclusions, especially the part about the length of the blade being up to interpretation.
    For that reason I think the Baby Banter at 2.34" will be my choice for EDC in Illinois, as many popular knives being marketed as 2.99" or 2.96" blades could easily be "measured" as being exactly 3 inches.
    And I do occasionally visit Chicago so being measurably under 2.5" is a bonus.
    Thanks for your help.

As we have to their purchasers really need to understand the laws. Most police probably wouldn't have made an issue on the 5/16 over but it only takes one. And its availabe amost everywhere in Illinois. Is their something I'm missing to where it is legal? Guidesman Operative Folding Knife

      @@IllinoisDailyCarry I spoke too soon. Too much bs information on the internet. So basically the Illinois law states (see below) that a blade with at "least" 3 inches is considered a category II weapon. So 3 inches is illegal. Anything below 3 is ok to carry. This sucks man. So i cant even carry my Para3? This is bullshit.
      A Category II weapon is any other rifle, shotgun, spring gun, other firearm, stun gun or taser as defined in paragraph (a) of Section 24-1 of this Code, knife with a blade of at least 3 inches in length, dagger, dirk, switchblade knife, stiletto, axe, hatchet, or other deadly or dangerous weapon or instrument of like character.

    Don’t know man. You just saved me a ton of cash on non-auto knives. Had no clue bladehq did that. Just set it up now… as far as knive laws go, don’t give them a reason to search you and you are good. It’s not a weapon unless it’s intended to be used as such. If you have a good lawyer, they will tell you the same. I use all knives for survival not weapons.

    • @vincebonilla4006
      @vincebonilla4006 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I Know For Sure and I'm Trying to Find the actual literature of law ; But the 3 inch spiel goes Only into effect If thier has Bin a crime committed then your knife is deemed a weapon and thus should not be over 3 inch or 2 1/2 city . Otherwise those chargers and KNIFE charges would be trumped Either way . Therefore... There is Technically .. No legal constrictions on blade size BECAUSE a knife is technically and Only a TOOL by definition . That's why cops Always ask the age old question ⁉️ " Why you carrying a knife & for what purpose " your supposed to say something in the lines of ( work or fishing or widdling ) Tool Purposes Not for " Protection or Defense or to harm someone " . Law had to do something with the Chicago 11th court yada yada .. but It's out there just gotta find it . That's why you can technically carry a sword or machete exc but .. just not in public .

  • @jamison74
    @jamison74 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The 3 inch restriction is for concealed folding knives, fixed blades in a sheath and kitchen knives are obviously not included. My point…. I understand that because you are a folder guy that is what is covered but that does does not mean that this applies to all knives.

    Illinois laws are weird. Knives with blades of 3" or more are considered a "Dangerous Weapon". You can possess or carry a dangerous weapon unless you have "intent to use against another". And there is no state preemption, so local jurisdictions can make their own rules (Chicago).
