    In this video, I get my hands on some LED headlights bulbs from Auxbeam. I go over the differences between them, along with showing you the difference in light output, along with colour temperature. These LED’s were installed in a set of projector lenses for my low beams, and in a reflector housing for my fog lights.
    They were a huge upgrade compared to the regular halogen bulbs. The light output is better, driving at night time will be safer, and they look a lot nicer than the traditional yellow bulbs.
    NOTE When installing the lights in your headlight housing, if the light coming out from the headlights does not have a nice cutoff, you should not drive with them on the roads as you will blind on-coming drivers as the headlights will scatter the light, as opposed to direct it onto the road.

    For LED lights, there are still lots of eye health issues on debate. I am worried if LED headlights, especially strong blue colored, may affect other drivers' eyes health conditions or even temporary issues like bothering driving conditions.

    I changed low beams from Osram Nightbreakers halogens to LEDs in my euro Accord. I have projector and H1 socket. I like LEDs better, especially when driving on country roads, LEDs give better light to right side, and I have better visibility in bushes, so I could potentially see better animals. And with LEDs all road signs, reflectors are far more brighter. Downsides - it's harder to see potholes and on wet driving conditions everything dark. I left halogens in my fog lights, so I am using these to get little bit yellow light and see better potholes and wet road.
    I compared light with aftermarket HID on similar Accord. Results are pretty similar.

  • @pibblesnbits
    @pibblesnbits 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This is a poor video and fairly deceptive. Pay c,lose attention to the shots of the halogen vs LED on the wall, you can tell that the halogen has a better hotspot near the center of the beam giving you a further throw of light and allowing you to see more into the distance. The LED light however has a poor to no hotpsot giving a poor throw of light but a lot more light closer to the vehicle. This will give the illusion that the LED is brighter as it is lighting up more area closer to the car but you cannot see as far.

    • @chrwl007
      @chrwl007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct. You can also see it at 13:41. The foreground is brighter, at the expense of the total distance lighted up by the halogen bulbs. It is actually worse if you have a very bright foreground, because your eyes adjust to this and lower your ability to see objects in the distance.

      David Hsieh in Australia everybody buys SUVs that are just jacked up hatches and they come with super bright LEDs by default. When people turn high beams on on the country roads it’s incredibly dazzling and honestly scary. I’m surprised I or my friend (who we took turns driving) didn’t have an accident will all these Incredibly bright high beams. IF THERE’s A CAR IN FRONT OF YOU AND THEY HAVE HIGH BEAMS ON, TURN YOURS OFF. Sometimes even low beams can be somewhat dazzling but nothing compared to the high beams.

    That first Philips chip bulb had a far better cut off. That last one had a bunch of glare that will kill an oncoming drivers eyes. A halogen projector is not designed for LED, same goes for reflector. It tends to lead to glare and spotty output. Some LED bulbs are able to be clocked to help lower the glare, maybe even remove it. You have to tune the bulb to work within the housing. Sometimes, the bulb just can't be tuned so it should not be used. Yet, so many people out there think it is awesome driving with blue lights. Not only is it killing other drivers, it is reducing that drivers vision. People are falsely thinking vision is better because it is so bright.

My lowbeams & highbeams are H1now & NOT 9006 low/9005 high/DRLS. Both of the incandescent bulbs that came with the retrofit halos headlights were both rated at 55w. I upgrade the lowbeam H1 to an HID CONVERSION KIT @ 8000K. I need to know what LED do I need to run my highbeams? I have 2 LED lights for the highbeams, but they don't overpower the lowbeams. MY 2012 HONDA ACCORD EX-L SEDAN 4CYL HAS ALL LED LIGHTS EXCEPT FOR THE HID HEADLIGHTS ALL THE OTHER LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, BRAKE, BACK-UP, 3RD BRAKE LIGHT & ALL THE INTERIOR & TRUNK LIGHTS ARE LED, THOSE THAT NEED LOAD RESISTORS WERE DONE BY PROFESSIONALLY. I JUST NEED TO KNOW THE WATTAGE OF LED FOR THE HIGHBEAMS(H1 NOW & NOT 9005 IF THEY HAD THE FACTORY HEADLIGHTS)!!! I BOUGHT THE LIGHTS FROM SPYDER, AND SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK IT UP FOR THE 8T GEN ACCORD/08-12 ACCORD SEDAN EX-L, I HAVE THE 2012 HONDA ACCORD EX-L SEDAN 4CYL. THAT HAS H1 BULBS NOW!!!! He's obsessed with selling jazz and pizas to the millennial crowd and the idea of REAL performance is not in his vocabulary. I don't WANT a tinge of blue in my headlights and I ALSO do not want my lamps to blind oncoming traffic. He speak ABOUT these things but he essentially glosses over the idea. He jumps from one concept to another without exploring the particular issue at hand-like going out to 'show' the performance of the main beam LED's but he has both main and fog lights on. Can't make a comparison with such foolishness. Stay on the issue of lighting performance and let the marketing people wow the kids with some extra pocket change by prettying up the packaging.

Main beams simply light up the fog directly in front of you (completely blinding you) and that's why fog lights are for, guess what, FOG with your headlamps off as your speed is substantially lower.

      @@_rtx_ Yes? Sound pollution is the measurement for how much sound is created through artificial means, such as industrial, commercial, or even residential activities.
      Light pollution is the measurement of excessive light in the atmosphere. Ever try to see stars in a city or wonder what the glow in the far distance from a camp ground is coming from? Same example as the noise pollution, the activities of society create more light and sound (as well as smell, taste, and touch) that wouldnt be there naturally other wise.

    If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it!
    LED-lights in cars don't contribute to a better environment at all.
    Your battery and dynamo have an overcapacity anyway, so that the halogen gets hot and looses part of the energy is totally irrelevant.
    LED-lights are a totally unnecessary and too expensive investment.
    You can buy complete H4 sets for less than $2.-
    Just make sure you have two spare sets with you in the car, so that you can instantly replace a bulb at any time and all by yourself.
    Just keep your car original and functional at the lowest possible cost and don't copmplicate stuff that was originally designed to be simple!

In an open road where there could be people walking or animals crossing one could easy get into an accident by not seeing beyond the car. Please don't install LEDs. I know they look cool but they are not cool for safety. I would go as far as saying that these types of lights should be banned. Please, I don't want to die. Putting led bulbs in a halogen projector is a big no no. There is no hotspot when using led bulbs which means that you won't be able to see as far as you would with standard halogen bulbs or HIR ones. Don't know about other states, but Washington State, it is illegal to change the illumination of your headlights/taillights/brake lights... That includes 'shading' the brake lights or taillights. OEM are the only street legal lights.
    Will you be cited for it? Probably not. But you do not want an investigation because you were involved in a collision caused by your illegal headlight installation. If someone is blinded by your headlights and crosse the centerline and hits you? YOU are at fault.
    The LED headlights have illumination 'panels' on two sides of the 'bulb' instead of a 360 degree projection. So your factory headlight assembly will not be able to be aimed correctly. If you install LED lights, you 100% MUST replace the headlight assembly to match the aiming of the LEDs. Because very few cars have this option, it is illegal....

    I hate these blue lights, it may look great to you but they blind other drivers. There should be a law that regulates this.

    Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare, Glare!!!!! Even the new corollas with oem led systems glare like crazy, to date quality HID projectors are the widest, throw light the farthest, and glare the least above the horizontal cutoff. What good is more light if it can't be effectively focused?

    You're not very smart. Comparing brand new LED bulbs to old halogens..... you know that new halogens would have been brighter than your old ones too right? HID are the only way to go. LEDs will perform like shit in the winter and they dont have the same distance as halogens let alone like HIDs. Only benefit in that they are brighter for the shorter distance they shine. If you're going to make a comparison, make a fair one please!

      Those were new Halogens... I originally had HID's in my headlights. The reason why I did this video was because my HID's were giving me problems.

      1MartinPL my new car has full led option from factory. It's winter time -11 celcius and no problems, also they give me the best vision out of my other 3 cars. I fell in love with Led, in the city during the night it's very easy to see everything. They also look great

    The only problem with this new wave of LED headlights is once that fan goes (and they do) they burn out soon after, you're better off with a set of quality HID's.

      true but if you are going to install hid's you are probably gonna need a load balancer and in some country's including mine you are required to install headlamp presure cleaners as well . (so considering all that hassle you moght just be better off installing the leds (less hassle) or stick with hallogen bulbs
