Best sound G35 on youtube man. I'm impressed with your documentation too. I also use this calculation. whp / 1 minus the percentage of drivetrain loss = crank hp. For example, 283 / .8 = 353.75
I don't think this is correct, if it is my G35 Tuned HR is making 393.75 HP at the crank and it sure doesn't feel like it, my understanding is 15% drivetrain loss on a manual.

I have this exhaust... sounds sooooooo good man. It puts a smile on my face everytime i hit the gas. But mine hasn't been tuned yet so idk where I'm at in terms of power
300BHP starting. Total gain of 40ish BHP. Is 340BHP. You don't retroactively apply a percentage loss. The loss is the same through the diff for example regardless of how much power the motor makes.
nice video. urg 2k for an exhaust, as nice as that exhaust is I'm not sure I could spend the money on it. those wheels need to be volk te37, that's the only thing your car is missing.
That is just cost of the Shockwave without the ART pipes. I used to say the same thing, people are out of their mind paying over 2k for an exhaust. I listened to 100's of youtube videos and said, not worth it. Then I heard it in person and I had to have it. I concur on the wheels, it is the last thing I plan on doing. I bought those wheels like 8 years ago because I hit a pothole and bent my OEM rays. In the midwest, I didn't know rim brands because in the midwest no one does. I bought those rims purely on design, then to find out Konig is generic. For 19's they weigh 21 pounds without a tire on, so they are not heavy. I now know what TE37's are from moving south and then out west, they are very sought after. I do not personally like them, but the style I"m leaning towards is WORK Durandal DD10.5 . What do you think? farm8.staticflickr.com/7119/13731759585_9db94074a2_o.jpg
Tyler Leonardi ....thanks for the suggestion. Not my style either and I know both styles you mention are popular. I am pretty set on what I want and it has to be a 3 piece rim with a stepped lip.
I could have done without the beginning when you are just moving the car around the parking lot. Another reason for the HP jump is 1st few dyno runs it looks like you ran on a mustang dyno, which are notoriously known for giving low numbers. After that it didn't look like a mustang dyno. Pretty good numbers. I'm sure she's a blast to drive
Well, not many people have rev-up DE's. Only rev-ups with the right mods can get there. It comes stock with 298hp. So If I gained 37whp/45wtq that's 335hp at a minimum which we both know is not right because there is a difference between whp and crank horsepower.

Sick video! Your exhaust is badass its gotta be adding alot of the hp. The single exhaust I put reduced my hp... exhaust setup is important on these cars
If I'm not mistaken, HP at the crank on a Dyno is when the engine is removed and put on a dyno. Your HP figures are wheel HP even with the wheel removed. The drivetrain drag is the transmission, drive shaft and differential which syphon off power due to mass. You might redo your figures with out the 20% loss since you actually have wheel HP and torque figures.
All manufactures should do the same then, just give out wheel horsepower stats instead of at the crank stats. Unfortunately, all manufactures publish at the crank horsepower numbers; I chose to do the same. You are correct, it doesn't matter if the wheels or off or not, where the loss is happening.
Calculated drive train loss (On given dyno) - 0.17785% Crank HP (Before mods) - 298 HP Calculated Crank HP (After mods) - 333.68 HP Calculated gains (After mods) - 35.68 HP So it looks like your making roughly 334 HP to the crank, a small ways far from 350, but still an astonishing number for a VQ35DE Rev-Up, as it looks like your making more power than a lot of modified HR motors!

Awesome video. Props on documenting the setps and progression! Quick question. When you switched to the motorDYNE. Did you keep the Invidia pips and just change mufflers/axle back or did you go with their full exhaust???
I just purchased an 2006 g35 with an automatic transmission, and also managed to collect all of the 6 speed manual conversion parts. I was wondering how do you measure out the precise spots to cut out and drill the holes for the clutch master cylinder and clutch pedal studs to mount on the left side of the brake master cylinder? Some automatic transmission vehicles have a stamped imprint outlining the holes for the studs and clutch master cylinder reservoir for a potential clutch pedal install. My 2006 automatic G35 doesn't have a stamped imprint so it's hard to pin point exactly where to drill in order to avoid installing the clutch pedal at an incorrect angle.
Seeing stuff like this makes me want to keep mine. My G35 is the worst case of oil consumption ive ever seen on these cars. ive spent more on oil than gasoline. But seeing stuff like this makes me want to get the engine rebuilt and get those piston rings fixed. I love the car, its just so costly

great video! along with every other one I've watched. I know a good bit about the vqs but this has put some light on some things I didn't even know. I have one question though, what air intake did you end up going with? if you don't want to tell that's fine. I've just been researching, and some seem cheap and most seem over priced but cheap material. thanks for the video and your time!
Stay tuned, I'm going back to the dyno with my new custom long tube air intake from AdminTuning 3.5 inch intake. Moncef said with my mods, I should gain another 16whp. I did not talk about my current air intake on purpose in the video because of the controversy with the OEM airbox vs. warm air intakes. I know Rob, in Dallas, who posted it on g35driver and I looked at all the logs, all of them were also short air intakes sucking warm air, so the stock box won. Rob never tested 1 long tube intake, all short ones. This one is the Injen cold air, down in front of the bumper, like my first mod before all the controversy. On data logs, under full load, my air intake temps are about 3-4 degrees above outside air. On the stock OEM air intake box, under full load, air intake temps were 13-15 degrees above outside temps. Do I think it makes much more than the OEM box, no not really, maybe 1 or 2 whp difference and that being because at the MAF the diameter is still the same OEM. Even though Injen starts at a 4" pipes that tappers down to under 3" before the MAF. This new intake with be 3.5 inches all the way, including the MAF, so we will see.
How is your car so clean under the chassis?! My Z is a 2005 and it's no where as clean as that. I like how you keep everything organized in a binder. Very cool. G looks and sounds amazing. Nice stock power! Enjoy it.
just got my car dynoed, ended up making 235wtorque and 245whp , running 550cc injectors 75mm trottle, 340lph40psi fuel pump and 3’ z1 single exit exhaust past the y-pipe with no cats, shi ion know how isn touch at least 275
videos are always good, but why would you go hub dyno instead of mustang? the results to figure out the actual gains with new parts wont be the same. are you going to go back to the same mustang dyno to measure differences?
Thanks for watching........I moved from Dallas to Phoenix is why the change in dynos. My old tune was in Dallas on a mustang dyno and the tuner in Phoenix uses a hub dyno or dynapack. Changing dynos does not effect the gain, the gain is all that matters. Each run there was a baseline pull to measure the power before any tuning. Mustang dyno gain: 24whp/35wtq Dynapack dyno gain: 13whp/10wtq Total: 37whp/45wtq In regards to overall number, I figured the dynapack would read higher than a mustang dyno. Nope, not at all. I did 269whp on the mustang dyno and then before any tuning for the motordyne shockwave/art pipes it did 270whp on the dynapack. This is not a high reading dynapack like church's and 1whp is within the noise, so basically the same readings.
Nah, flexican77 is right. Different dyno to your stock run, the gains shown here cannot be taken as correct. This needs to be run on the original dyno.
No but your missing the point. The power achieved on one dyno can be different to another so your basing your 'gains' from your stock figure. Therefore to see total gain after mods you NEED to use the same dyno for them to be accurate. I'd bet you if you went to 3 different dyno's on the same day. You would get 3 different figures. Honestly, talking to Americans is like sweeping water up hill with a pitchfork...
No, gain is not gain. Gain is only measured against stock figures. On the same dyno. May as well put a Nissan Micra on a dyno in New York and get 50hp and then run a GTR on a dyno in Dallas and get 600hp and claim a gain of 550 after a few tweaks... I won't stoop to your level of name calling, that's just a sign of both immaturity and knowing you're wrong, but I will address a few of your points. 1- No never been on a dyno, no point with a 350z that is not FI yet the figures will be no more than 10-20hp over stock at most. Even with a tune and run. 2- You are basing you gains of a baseline pull with new parts and no tune for them, I see where you are coming from on on gains after the tune. That is correct. But claiming the final % gain over stock is wrong. 3- Either way we look at this, without FI the G35/350z is a slow car by today's standard so no point chasing numbers when they won't be that good. I will say though, probably should have said earlier, you have a very nice example of a G and should be quite proud of what you have done with it.
Thank you....I just checked your channel and hit subscribe. I will stay tuned for future post, an LS1 Swap would be pretty rad! I've thought of doing it myself too.
Awesome video. Your documentation is damn impressive. Hub dynos read higher from what I understand. I think the only way to know for sure is to get a reading from the original dyno. Also, it's odd you say that the Art pipes give 10HP over the regular test pipes, meaning the new throttle body and exhaust only gave 3HP.
@@MotordyneG35 According to the dyno it does make 10hp more but only at 2.5k. Looks like it makes about 2hp peak. Better than any other cat/test pipe option besides price.
@@michaelt779 ..you actually read the article, very nice! It's more usable power because on your daily you are not redlining all day, so extra 10whp down low in RPM is more usable. Plus they sound way better than a test pipe, ART pipes are the sauce to get rid of drone. The CATS are the biggest bottleneck, removing them net the most power really of any mod. You know modding, the very first mod yields the best results. Then each following mod is piggybacking off the first mod, netting much less.
Hey got a question for u . I have been running invidia Gemini with artpipes on my car and just purchased a motordyne tdx2 to replace the invidia . Now how much louder is the motordyne with artpipes compared to the invidia with artpipes ?! Great videos btw !
Great video. Really appreciate your meticulous documentation. Did the Injen CAI and NWP throttle body contribute to your hp gain? Did the new clutch (and I'm assuming lighter flywheel) contribute to your whp gain? Thanks for uploading a thorough and informative video.
When I installed the clutch myself, no I kept the dual mass flywheel with exedy stage 1 clutch. Why? Because the play in the dual mass flywheel is better on the gears in the transmission and my car in neutral does not sound like cement truck, spinning cement with rocks in it. Thank you for the feedback. I did not mention the Injen CAI for a reason. All my comments would be flooded with why the stock box is better. Well I did a data log and under full throttle the air temp on the stock box are 15 degrees above the temperature outside. On my Injen CAI, under full throttle the air temps were 2-4 degrees above the temperature outside. Colder air is denser, makes more power. It does as advertised. Here is the problem. People do not understand mods. The first breather mod you do will give the highest horespower results and all manufactures claim the highest horsepower results for their product. Once you do 1 breather mod, the next one will not yield the claimed results, unless it was the first mod you did. You don't add mods by the claimed horsepower it makes, because 5 mods are not 1 mod. Any mod after the first 1, will yield lower horsepower numbers as they work together to reach an overall flow goal. On the NWP throttle body, I noticed my throttle got way more responsive. Did the car get faster, I didn't really feel it.
hey man i've just seen a couple videos of yours and they're really sick and have a lot of useful information! so i have the 04 g35 coupe with obviously the non uprev motor, so kinda makes a little less power. but i wanted to know what can i do to my g without having to turbo it so i can get the most power out it?! would you recommend the same performance mods that you have or would add or do anything different? thanks! keep up these dope videos!
Thanks for checking out my channel and the feedback. I watch a lot of youtube and I decided to start posting things I want to see on the G, that people are not posting. You have the right idea not going with a turbo and staying NA, the car will be a lot more durable and last longer. Unless a motor was designed for boost, you will have problems. Building a motor cost $$ and then plus the boost kit. The non rev can get up to 325-330 HP at the crank and not 350 HP, either way it is still a very fun car to drive. I recommend Motordyne ART pipes which are mandatory whatever you do, but should be the very last mod before the tune or the car will run lean. Getting the potatoes out of the exhaust, couch CATS, are the biggest bottle neck. Going full Motordyne is expensive though, so you would be happy with my old set up, until you want more. Performance Mods I recommend for your - 04 G35 - Motordyne 5/16th spacer - Long tube Injen CAI - Motordyne ART Pipes - Invidia Gemini exhaust. Unless you have the 75mm throttle body a 3.5 intake is not worth getting. I'm thinking of getting the 3.5 inch intake by the administration and doing a dyno video on the gains. You won't see gains from this intake either unless you have all the other breather mods first. My Current Performance Mods: - KW v3 Coilovers - Injen CAI - NWP 75mm throttle body - Motordyne MREV2 - Motordyne 5/16th spacer - Motordyne v3 ART pipes - Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 exhaust.
Bought my G35 (5400 off auction) and the exhaust sounds almost identical to yours. And the guys before me Ik added a bunch of stuff to it. I may have lucked out with a solid exhaust
Great deal you got on your G! I doubt, the owner left a Motordyne Shockwave exhaust on the car because you can sell them used and get full retail out of it, it is that popular. On the forums it will sell in 1 to 2 days. The thing that sucks about youtube, is the sound. In person, there is a huge difference. On youtube, it is hard to tell.
Motordyne G35 yea I'm sure your right. It's probably a different exhaust but sound is still dope! Great video! And quick question if you wouldn't mind, any suggestions on the damn seat motor? my seat won't go down in my 04
LOL.....I'm about to post a video on problems to look for when buying a G35. That is on my list. It is not the seat motor, it is most likely the seat switch. I have the same issue with mine. Seat will lean back, but not up and yet everything else still works is a seat switch issue. You can clean the switch, which is a bitch to fix the issue because you have to remove the seat from the car or you can buy a new switch. Both require removing the seat. Yeah man, the exhaust even in bone stock OEM form still sounded good. That was actually my number 1 reason for the loving the G, the sound!

nice video. urg 2k for an exhaust, as nice as that exhaust is I'm not sure I could spend the money on it. those wheels need to be volk te37, that's the only thing your car is missing.
What do you think? farm8.staticflickr.com/7119/13731759585_9db94074a2_o.jpg
they look nice. I'd like to have either the te37 or work emotion cr kai, I think they look similar to the oem rays wheels but "sportier"
Motordyne G35 i would go with enkei rpf1s or 2009-2012 GTR rims. Saw a few images and they looks great man
Tyler Leonardi ....thanks for the suggestion. Not my style either and I know both styles you mention are popular. I am pretty set on what I want and it has to be a 3 piece rim with a stepped lip.
Motordyne G35 can't hate on it. But I am Looking forward to your set of new rims!
I was about to talk about the dyno too
Glad you did this video, people say I'm full of shit when I tell them my G has 340hp and its a de.
Well, not many people have rev-up DE's. Only rev-ups with the right mods can get there. It comes stock with 298hp. So If I gained 37whp/45wtq that's 335hp at a minimum which we both know is not right because there is a difference between whp and crank horsepower.
@@MotordyneG35yo what’s up broski put more videos out, sup with the G? I’m 45yr so yea I got life to deal with ain’t got time for projects like I want to but I do own 2 g35 coupes 6sp one is an 04 the other o6 I just got salvaged a new really hard to find now Revup motor cause it’s an o6 police auction find in my area so yea I have 2 of them now best car I’ve ever owned and I’ve been on to you channel from way back anyway man God bless you hope all is well! Newyork in the house!
Thanks for the help! Im going to try on my altima 3.5 coupe
I personally hate the vq sound but damn that exhaust actually makes it sound good
Your documentation is amazing btw
This g35 makes me want to get a coupe. And im a sedan type of guy!
I really need to get rid of the oem exhaust on my 350... anyways great vid!!
Thank you, ill be looking into these mods
Thanks for watching......I just a made a new video going into detail on my top 7 mods to choose. th-cam.com/video/sDAiIT2qXRA/w-d-xo.html
You are the man 🤝very informative 👏
Love everything about this G soon to get one
Calculated drive train loss (On given dyno) - 0.17785%
Crank HP (Before mods) - 298 HP
Calculated Crank HP (After mods) - 333.68 HP
Calculated gains (After mods) - 35.68 HP
So it looks like your making roughly 334 HP to the crank, a small ways far from 350, but still an astonishing number for a VQ35DE Rev-Up, as it looks like your making more power than a lot of modified HR motors!
Impressive
Dude love your vids best place for G vids
Quite organised! I might do this to my V35 sedan
Great upload bro, definitely just got your 500th sub! Keep it up
Thanks a lot! .......I now live in Phoenix, but used to live in Tampa. I see in your video's you are in Florida, bringing back good old memories. I did the same, clicked subscribe to your channel.

Great and detailed video, very nice ride and Thanks for sharing
Wow talk about detail oriented. Cool video.

Im wanting to buy one in December. Love your channel 💯🤙
Will this work on my vq35de?

wow . what a great presentation boss.
this guy does great videos
Great video man!
Another Dallas local well ex-local lol loving the g35
Really great video but as far as I'm aware out of the factory the 287-298 is crank hp so to the wheel 245 sounds about right
Seeing stuff like this makes me want to keep mine. My G35 is the worst case of oil consumption ive ever seen on these cars. ive spent more on oil than gasoline. But seeing stuff like this makes me want to get the engine rebuilt and get those piston rings fixed. I love the car, its just so costly
What year?

Thank you!
great video! along with every other one I've watched.
Motordyne G35 will do sir!
Good gains from just basic bolt on mods. I wonder what cams and valve springs would do
How is your car so clean under the chassis?! My Z is a 2005 and it's no where as clean as that. I like how you keep everything organized in a binder. Very cool. G looks and sounds amazing. Nice stock power! Enjoy it.
Sick ass binder!
Great video!
just got my car dynoed, ended up making 235wtorque and 245whp , running 550cc injectors 75mm trottle, 340lph40psi fuel pump and 3’ z1 single exit exhaust past the y-pipe with no cats, shi ion know how isn touch at least 275
videos are always good, but why would you go hub dyno instead of mustang? the results to figure out the actual gains with new parts wont be the same. are you going to go back to the same mustang dyno to measure differences?
Thanks for watching........I moved from Dallas to Phoenix is why the change in dynos. My old tune was in Dallas on a mustang dyno and the tuner in Phoenix uses a hub dyno or dynapack. Changing dynos does not effect the gain, the gain is all that matters. Each run there was a baseline pull to measure the power before any tuning.
Mustang dyno gain: 24whp/35wtq
Dynapack dyno gain: 13whp/10wtq
Total: 37whp/45wtq
In regards to overall number, I figured the dynapack would read higher than a mustang dyno.
Are you some dyno expert? Obviously not, the gain is all that matters genius; not the dyno.
Car is very clean..WOW..
Thank u bro this helped alot
Wet 100 shot until it blow, then build it, and more NO2, or turbos
Love the content hopefully one day you will see on my channel of my car with the LS1 swap!! Keep it up!! Subscribed
Thank you....I just checked your channel and hit subscribe. I will stay tuned for future post, an LS1 Swap would be pretty rad! I've thought of doing it myself too.
In the mean time I may attempt to get this 350 to the crank that you have I'm sure it's a huge difference from stock
Awesome video. Your documentation is damn impressive. Hub dynos read higher from what I understand. I think the only way to know for sure is to get a reading from the original dyno.
Also, it's odd you say that the Art pipes give 10HP over the regular test pipes, meaning the new throttle body and exhaust only gave 3HP.
www.superstreetonline.com/how-to/engine/impp-1006-nissan-350z-motordyne-fact-or-fiction/

Performance Mods I recommend for your - 04 G35
- Motordyne 5/16th spacer
- Long tube Injen CAI
- Motordyne ART Pipes
- Invidia Gemini exhaust.
Unless you have the 75mm throttle body a 3.5 intake is not worth getting. I'm thinking of getting the 3.5 inch intake by the administration and doing a dyno video on the gains. You won't see gains from this intake either unless you have all the other breather mods first.
My Current Performance Mods:
- KW v3 Coilovers
- Injen CAI
- NWP 75mm throttle body
- Motordyne MREV2
- Motordyne 5/16th spacer
- Motordyne v3 ART pipes
- Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 exhaust.
Don't know if you saw this video or not........I just uploaded it. 11 reasons to buy the G35.......th-cam.com/video/wSR988HP1jE/w-d-xo.html
Motordyne G35 awesome, I'll look into that! And I'll stay tuned and watch that video! Thanks a bunch!
I have an 08 350z HR Automatic. 317whp 275wtq. About 397hp at the crank and about 344tq at the crank. I'm not FBO. Tuned on 93. I ran 12.7280 at 106ish with a 1.8778 60ft when I was at 314whp and 271wtq. I'm the fastest bolt on HR Automatic in the world and #9 overall on the 07+ HR not stock bolt on list on Facebook
You could have saved a lot of money buying a series 1 G35 lower plenum instead of a mrev2, basically the same thing. Nice car mate
