Karma & its Relations to Vows (1 of 2) - Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

  • We want higher teachings, tantric initiations and INSTANT ENLIGHTENMENT, yet upon close inspection we find that even to apply the basic law of cause and effect in our daily lives is very hard for us...If we build a strong foundation based on ethics, compassion and a pure relationship with our spiritual guide, transformation can come naturally.
    His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche shows us here just how deeply our self-centered mind pervades our entire existence and how crucially important it is for us to become an embodiment of the basic goodness that will lead us on.

    I loved the part he says he likes to watch movies reciting mantras! "Half negative action, half positive"... he is so funny!! Maybe I'll try to recite some mantras along my netflix watching too, heheheh... what a priviledge to be here in my house in Bahia, Brazil, cleaning my kitchen and listening to this guru!! Thank you all that made this possible!

    There is step-wise elevation of spiritual progress. There is no short-cut.
    We must start with the initial level and watch our progress and readiness, as revealed by stability of mind, clarity and lack of doubt and peace.
    The teachings must not be kept secret, knowledge revealed A to Z, and clear explanations offered by a good guru.
    The notes taken should be thoroughly corrected and debated upon to make sure of the authenticity of the meaning intended.
    Must continue with the basic practices of taking refuge, puja, to increase devotion, develop purity by constantly practicing all the dos and don'ts to maintain receptivity and continue to acquire knowledge from a qualified teacher.
    Higher level is for those who have reached that level. There should not be impatience or ego.

    Rewatching:
    This time, the part about the preliminary practices seemed to stand out more for some reason. I've been reading as much as I can about dharma (both the philosophical and logical sides) but not really been balancing it well with meditation and practise.
    Though we need to practise the principles throughout the day, time accorded to strict study and mediation must be assigned - especially for procrastinating featherbrains like me 😂 really envy those estj type individuals who can control everything in their lives.
    Need to really readjust the scales and try harder.

  • @MahimaSaxena
    @MahimaSaxena 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Keep your faith and follow Dharma. Follow your lineage.
    Follow pure Dhrama from authentic qualified sources.
    Keep your commitments.
    This should improve your own faith.
    Stay away from prejudice, doubt, and lower level unqualified sources.
    Even when other lineage dharmas are discussed, if what is common is brought out (instead of comparisons being made), it brings us closer to the truth and again increases our own faith as a right path.

Perhaps this situation with Jude Campbell is similar. I don't know. Just a thought I had in hearing this account.

      ZionRebirth .Tello I think just calling actions as 'crazy wisdom' is not a passport for just anyone to be able to do such actions. If people acts in ways that harms others and it is obvious this person is not enlightened and did not do it with any concern, care or compassion for others then there will be karma and does not constitute an enlightened action.

    If the foundation is not firm, then any structure built upon it is shaky.
    OMG THAT HORROR STORY AT THE STARTING THO :-X
    His Eminence is completely right - unless you are that good at preliminaries, grounded in bodhicitta - you really shouldn't chase the higher tantras - as the result sounds pretty terrifying, to be honest. That and too many demonic possession movies -_-
    IDK much, but to be worthy of the higher tantras, compassionate determination, bodhicitta and hardwork must work in hand in hand and be a source of strength to you - and serving others/wanting the best for them must be the top of every list in your life. That's pure dedication, that is.
    Personally, looking at my loooong list on ineptitudes, I'm way too chicken to even consider anything like it. [low self esteem is not always a bad thing - it can make you look at yourself critically at times lol]. Honestly, I just like listening to Dharma discourses a lot, and reading the texts Rinpoche talks about[the blogsite] and outlines for developing a good base in Buddhism. Since its made a positive impact in my life so far, I really do treasure this opportunity to just learn the basics.
    'Cos if you mess with something like this, you are SO in for it and so are people around you. Still, we DO need more amazing people like His Eminence who can help people out in situations of black magic and all that freaky business. Why people do that shit I honestly can't understand. The effects of all that will just ensure a nice extended* stay in one of the three lower realms. I mean, if you had ANY common sense you'd be doing your best - busting your ass to do dharma, not weird shit like that...as those things WILL get you [cos nothing is free] someday and then, of course there is the repressions of your karma to consider.
    P.S. In case weird shit is hanging around me - I'd be more than fine to have a guru yell at me. Totally fine...
    Sometimes, I envy atheists. I really, really do.
    Major John Riley...LMAO. The master became who he needed to be? Sounds interesting!

    Experienced wise Buddhist monk's advice for our protection -
    dangers of tantrik, mediums, spirits, demons giving suggestions for our downfall or taking control
    if we are not protected by God, deities, guru, our current practice teacher AND our receptivity and preparation which must include:
    accepting God's governance and seeking shelter
    devotion to deities, doing pujas
    revelation of mantra to a guru or rishi by deities
    permission for recitation of mantra
    initiation of us as practitioner and accepting a guru's guidance
    initial purification practices
    taking of vows- mainly don'ts (to stay away from negativity)
    maintaining practices, vows, mainly Dos to maintain purity
    after permission and correct teaching of mantra reciting the same and doing pujas.
    Developing Bodhichitta

    • @GonG108
      @GonG108 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      as i started my spiritual practice with ha - tha yoga i came to tantric mantras from the shaiva shakta kashmir tradition , i got me a book called the Haidakhandi sapta sati , it takes 2 hours to read through the book and chant the mantras ( usually they use these mantras for the yagna fire ceremonies ) , i remember that i got a warning not to read these mantras with an un-pure heart but i thought it is o.k. for me ( that was an illusion , now i can see it , at that time i was too ignorant ) , these are very strong mantras

    • @christineso231
      @christineso231 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do you think it is better to stop your practice to stop the negative influence? You couldn`t hold your vow or because of habituation? Or only because without a qualified teacher? Thank you :)

    • @GonG108
      @GonG108 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think both , but more because there was no qualified teacher . Maha Mudra is an advanced initiation but at that time i was not ready for it as HE Rinpoche has explained in the video , i feel like i have to start all over again , i have the feeling to know nothing ( despite all i have done to learn ) , the accidents i had came all after that initiation and now i fear that without the guidance of an experienced teacher it would be wrong to go ahead , specially because i come from a shaiva shakta tradition of ha tha yoga ( this is my fundament or basis ) i need someone who can tell me what the right thing to do is , i don´t feel so advanced to be able to give the Bodhisattva vow ( now , 20 years earlier i thought differently and i was way more ignorant then today .)
      i just feel very unsure , i want to avoid further negative influence , see i did not even know what lam rim is and this is the very basic , that is why i think it is better to get an advice how to practice and start all over again .
      thank you very much for your kind reply , i really need some advice on what to do now ( i would like to continue but not in a wrong direction ) and thanks for that eye opening video i always thought it can only have good effects ( once i asked the Lama who gave the initiation to me if this can be taken back , he just laughed and said it is o.k. that way )

      How are you doing now?

    • @GonG108
      @GonG108 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you for your reply , i am not feeling very well , i have this issue since a couple of years , the problem is that i got the Maha Mudra initiation way too early , i don´t even know what lam rim is ( the basic ) , i have given a vow like everyone must do to get this initiation but as HE Rinpoche explained i was not mature enough to do this and when i look back many problems came after this initiation , at a certain time i lost my way completely and now i understand this was due to my un-pure heart or mind / soul how ever you call it and reading / chanting Mantras ( HE Rinpoche explained that this can be a doorway for evil spirits and negative energy )
      retrospektive i start to understand why certain problems came back and a lot of new ones came too , a lot of bad energy , i had many accidents , i can´t count my new birthdays ( broke my back but miraculously i can walk , i should have been dead or at least paralyzed but i had luck , every 2 years something big happened , the last accident was my flat it burned down ( i lost everything ) and so on , i always thought this must be happening due to my bad Karma from previous lifetimes and maybe also this one . I don´t want to go into detail and count up the things which happened to me , i know now what the problem is and try to find a way out .
      my question is what can i do , to fix the whole thing , i know a vow cannot be taken back , once given you have to do according to your vow , as i have no other teacher then these videos here , what would you suggest me to do , i have stopped chanting mantras as i feel unsure and fear that it could bring more harm to my family and me .If i could i would take back the vow and wait until someone like HE Rinpoche would advice me to do so , 20 years ago i was hunting knowledge and initiations now i see how wrong i was ( Lama Ole Nydahl said it is no problem but i know now very well it is a huge problem )
      this video was a real eye opener to me .
      Thank you very much for your reply , right now you and your team are my teachers ( i don´t have any one else except my ha tha yoga teacher but it is very difficult for me to see him as he moved away and is very old )
