We are finally doing it!!! SHINee's had their long awaited comeback and everyone has been holding their breath! After doing reactions for Taemin's "Criminal", "Blackrose" and "Idea" it's been so highly suggested that I react to SHINee. You guys have been telling me they are the ones that founded kpop group posting their dance practices along with other things and I think that's pretty incredible.

Members:
Taemin (Lee Taemin) you already know. Main dancer, lead vocal, maknae (born in 1993)
Red hair is Minho (Choi Minho). Main rapper, visual (born in 1991)
Black hair is Key (Kim Kibum). Lead rapper, lead dancer, vocalist (born in 1991)
Grey-ish hair is Onew (Lee Jinki). Leader, main vocal (born in 1989)
If you watch earlier SHINee videos, you’ll see a fifth member. Jonghyun (Kim Jonghyun), main vocal (born 1990). Jonghyun sadly passed away a few years ago, but to fans he will always be a part of the group.
SHINee as a group have done so many different concepts over the years. Rnb, EDM, retro, tropical house, ballads, and this is a sort of new sound for them to try. I highly suggest you check out more of their music at some point, cause they have one of the best discographies in Kpop, in my opinion at least.

@@eyes0nyu I don’t know if he officially is, but considering the lines he gets (in most of the title tracks from Sherlock to Tell me what to do, Taemin and Jonghyun have been the top 2 in terms of lines), and the fact that SHINee doesn’t seem to have any lead vocals (Key and Minho are usually labeled as vocalists or sub-vocals, and Onew is usually listed as a main), I kinda assume he stepped into that role at some point, maybe not officially, but definitely in function.

@@RadostinaPetrova honestly it's nearly impossible to find ANYTHING even remotely negative about them as people, its insane. They're all such genuine and kind and funny people, with everyone they meet, whether it's friends, fellow idols, staff, even fans. Everyone gets the same kind treatment and respect and it's always so refreshing to see
So true. They were all so young when they were put together way back when. They were lucky enough to have such a sweet polite and supportive leader and be mentored by SuJu TVXQ and BoA. I think it really helped shape them.

Onew (Lee Jinki real name) - the one with the unique voice and who was sitting down in the beginning. He's the leader of SHINee and also the main vocalist. They say that all of them are great singers and that is true but in SHINee the group he is everyone's fav and the members are constantly asking for him to sing songs from his musicals.
Key (Kim Kibum real name) - the one who was on the phone and in the red outfit and bird feathers in his hair. He is the fashionista of the group. Everything that you see them dressed in for their music videos and concerts starting from 2014/2015 onward all came from his mind. He is also an amazing vocalist but as you can hear tends to lean more towards the Freddy Mercury/Axil Rose sound.
Minho (Choi Minho full name) - the one with the red hair and in the cowboy outfit. He's their main rapper and has a really nice, low singing voice. He is also the main visual of the group even though all of them are insanely attractive. He's also well known for being extremely passionate in everything he does whether that's games on a variety show or performing.
Taemin (Lee Taemin full name) - you obviously know and I don't have to explain about him lol.
Now there is a fifth member of the group Jonghyun (Kim Jonghyun full name). He passed away three years ago from depression. He was the all around musician of the group. You name an instrument he could probably play it. He was an amazing singer. His falsetto to this date cannot be matched, his vocal control to this date cannot be matched. Every one who talked about him said that he was born to be an artist, musician and performer. He also wrote many of the groups songs and they are all well loved. When he passed away, the whole Kpop community was devastated. He was friends with everyone. Every one like him and no one had a bad thing to say about him.
Now onto my song recommendations. "Everybody" is their most energetic, high octane dance (listed as one of the most dangerous and you'll see why in the beginning when you watch it), the music video to "Sherlock" is so good, BUT you have to start from their very beginning with their debut single "Replay". Comparing their debut to now, they were all so adorable and little and cute back then (Taemin was just about 15, Minho and Key were 17, Jonghyun was 18 and Onew was 19).
If you want to get a feel for them as group, I highly recommend watching them on variety shows such as Running Man, Men on a Mission (also goes by the names Knowing Bros or Ask Us Anything), Weekly Idol and many others. They are absolutely hilarious and your stomach will hurt from laughing so much.

I saw several comments talking about jonghyun, but I would like to add one thing.... Don't be afraid of getting into SHINee, the best way to remember Jonghyun in through SHINee's music and Jonghyun's solo music. We remember him as of the greatest vical king and sweet person he was. Hope you check more of SHINee. Each SHINee's member is so so unique, they can shine with their on color. Thank you for this reaction!
FUN FACT: nowadays the groups launch "dance practice" because of shinee, they started this trend because of the choreography of "lucifer". When the MV came out, everyone was intrigued by how difficult the choreagraphy is and they wanted to see a video showing only the choreography. If you are going to react more to shinee in the future, I recommend you check out "Lucifer", "everybody" and "sherlock" these songs are not only iconic but also have an insane choreography!
This group is unique and like not others. 13 years and they just keep getting better even through the storm. Seriously, they are no joke.
Key is the one who's speaking English at the beginning and he wore the raven feathers. He's a fashion designer and he had input in their costumes for this video. Onew is the one with the unique voice, and he's also the leader of the group. Minho is the red haired one with the nice abs. Minho is known for his fitness, and he's an actor too. Actually, they've all acted in various things. Onew was in Descendants of the Sun and his character was so adorable and lovable he just melted hearts. And you know Taemin, hah! All four are vocal gods, legends. Three of them just got out of the military so maybe that has an influence on the clothes. I don't know for sure. I'm so happy they're back. The other songs on this album are also great!

@@RadostinaPetrova Yes, SHINee changed K-pop for boy groups with their choreography, harmonies, and unique concepts. They also started the posting of dance practices so you have them to thank for all the goodness we see today. A couple of their songs were so addictive and won so many awards, the industry had to change the way they evaluated groups. For me, I found SHINee through Taemin, whom I love for his dancing and uniqueness. This group is such a feel good balm for the soul. Taemin reverts back to his makhne role (baby of the group) when they are together and the family dynamic is so sweet. (He recently added the cutest kitten to his family, Kkoongie.) Thank you for your awesome reaction, as usual. Don't worry, I think we're all confused about this story line. So much needs to be revealed, so we look forward to the next mvs. Onew, the one with the voice like honey had a new song out, maybe more than one. It's so nice having the 3 of them back from their military service. Too bad it's Taemin's turn soon.

The best thing about SHINee is that each member is so unique and yet they mesh together so perfectly. They've been in the industry for years, remaining relevant for always trying something new. They are master performers and amazing at every role (all are fantastic singers, dancers, etc.)... SHINee are legends in the kpop industry, kings of kpop, with unmatched stage presence and laid-back confidence

Key, the feathered boy, is very sassy, he likes fashion (also, he has designed Shinee's costumes)

You’re right they’re so KIND like ALL OF THEM. I think that’s also one of the reason why they could be together until 14 years old long (exclude trainee period). They never being too greedy to each other or to their company. While many people saying their company give them only a small percent of money. One of heir member ever said that they earn more than average people on their age could earn. I think it’s al so one of the reason they mever have big problem woth their company they just being grateful for everything the achieve and got. They’re also well-known of their good manners between korean entertainment stuff. Many people also witnessed them off camera but still humble and kind. They never get into serious scandal too. And they’re also known for their hard work between other idols, producer, and all people who works on k-ent industry. They never think they’re superior and being lazy after such a long time. For this comeback a member who u said to have unique voice even take a vocal lesson class even before he finished military service, he took the lesson every time he got holiday. The other members also tried their best, the members are the one who asked for this strong and hard concept. Shinee is a gorup of 5 people who are really passionate about entertainment industry. They always busy and focusing their life on this path. They sure already have lots of money they could just stop in this industry and started to have their own path maybe business or etc but they never do that. Even all their wishes are to be able to sing and to be able to do activities in this industry for a long time.
SHINee is always ahead of the curve and relevant. The set the trends; the don't follow them. SHINee is not restricted to any particular genre, but fluctuate seamlessly through and between genres; even creating their own.
Let's put into perspective - You probably like them because Taemin is the way he is because of SHINee and his tenacious hard work ethic. SHINee raised Taemin from the time he was 14, and he has been greatly influenced by them. As he has said, he is a conglomeration of all of the other members put together. Taemin is a very different person when with his SHINee hyungs! They are true brothers, have been together for 16 years (including trainee years) and love each other. They consider themselves true family and they all dote on Taemin like he was their son and brother. Taemin is VERY spoiled by them - in a good way mostly...lol. They will move heaven and Earth to get Taemin what he wants, and protect him, and Taemin knows it!
They all have very unique voices and when the come together, they create the most beautiful, heavenly harmonies in all of Kpop. They bounce around vocals between each other just like having a normal conversation and move as one with their choreo. SHINee the legends. 2nd gen group, 13 years and continue to raise the standards. They are like the idol of idols.
They don't follow mainstream music and most of the time what they release set the next kpop trend. They also started the dance practice videos showing hard choreo (see Lucifer) which is popular in kpop today.
They are also known for their live vocals and epic performances so don't miss out on their live performances.
Personalities -oh you'll love them. Personally I love watching random videos because I'm in love with their personalities and I always want to see their interactions - sweet and savage, too funny. They also have some reality shows and they are a favorite guest in variety shows.
Onew - SHINee's leader, the one with book and broken ladder
Key - the one with feather headdress and on the phone (English king), he is also a rapper
Minho - the red haird guy rapping, he is also a kdrama actor
Taemin - maknae, SHINee and SHINee World's baby cheese; he might be seen differently on his solo stages or a hyung in SuperM, but he is like a baby with SHINee - like he has a lot of mischiefs and his hyungs spoil him a lot. He was 14 when they debuted in 2008 so SHINee practically raised him. Key was even cooking breakfast and ironed his school uniform. They also send him off to school.
Jonghyun - one of the best vocalists and composers ever and passed away in Dec 2017.

SHINee is my favorite group since I start listening Kpop. They have something special that everyone like them (almost everyone 😁). The fact is that this Groupe is amazing and need to be more discover by new people who listen Kpop for short time.

What makes people like them easily is the charisma they have in abundance.. also their talents coming through their obvious hardwork.. as a group, SHINee is incomparable to any other groups I have known all these years.. their talents, personalities, attitude towards their works and they way they handle their fans has received a lot of praises not just from common fans, but also fellow artists and other people from the industry itself including the founder of Big Hit himself.. sounds like I'm bragging 😌😅

Sadly, not many do that today, not with all the new groups popping out every week XD It is fun to see new people appreciate SHINee and to get a different perspective on things! Also that move you said was very 'Taemin esque' at around 4 min mark gives me such '09 Juliett flashbacks I'm not even sure if they are real or not!! XD Like... This group is still incredibly popular, not just popular “back when.” You’re right, they are known for being incredibly nice, and polite, and just for the members being super tight and close (like, they’re family because they all debuted really young, Taemin when he was 13 so they are not that much older than other idols even though they’ve been doing this for 15 years). The entire industry adores SHINee bc of this, and each member all have strong solo careers and etc outside of being part of SHINee. And yea, it was a piano, Taemin is a great on the piano too.

You know Taemin (youngest) soooo the red hair guy is Minho (2nd youngest), the weird feather-hair guy is Key (3rd youngest), our angel Jonghyun watching from heaven and the nice looking one is Onew (oldest and leader of Shinee). They are all super nice, fun and are very experienced when it comes to performing 😊 Key is a little Diva, Minho a little hot headed from time to time (especially when it comes to competitions xD) and Onew is simply 101% whipped for Taemin (I mean they all are 😂). Taemin is obviously the evil but extremly pampered maknae 😁
And Jonghyun is so full of love and music 🌕💛

The group was originally 5 members but one passed away in 2017, two more left for mandatory military service in 2018 which left Taemin to continue on without them...

Onew has a really unique voice, they all do tbh, when I first got into SHINee in 2012 I learnt their names (faces) and voices almost at the same time, that's how unique their voices are to me. Yes please keep reacting to more SHINee, specially the old ones where we can enjoy Jonghyun's perfect voice too!
Also yes to the dance performance! Did you know that SHINee were the ones that started the trend to post dance performances?? And also they were the ones that made hard choreos mainstream for boy groups in kpop, before them boy groups weren't taken seriously as dancers, legends!

This song was like totally different from their normal title tracks! It just shows you their versatility! I think you would really really like Good Evening by SHINee! Also, their live performance of Marry You from this album is A MA ZING!! I just love you you notice every little detail! I am really looking forward to more reactions to SM artists like SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, aespa, and definitely NCT! All of their vocals, choreos, and mvs will exceed your expectations!

They proved once again that they can make any style and show it in their own way.
One thing you will learn is that watching SHINee you will NEVER be disappointed! They are so talented but also just so much fun! They did an hour long live stream leading up to this release and as usual were being crackheads, I love them so much. They are all kind and sweet but also funny and full of sass. There's literally never a dull moment watching them. If you watch any of the many compilation vids that exist of them, you'll def fall in love with all of their personalities, it's impossible not to lol.
SHINee is the “idol of idols” and many idols of today were inspired and look up to them.. They are a juggernaut in the kpop world.
Love that you're discovering SHINee. :) just a quick note that might help you understand this (and actually many kpop MVs). Often there is no actual storyline or sense to the MV sets etc. Often they are just there to give a "feel", a concept and vibe that the group is trying to convey. So many times, I see reactors saying they don't understand what is happening. Well that's because there sometimes just isn't anything to understand! Not in the way they are looking for anyway. So yeah. It's just an aesthetic thing in this MV. There's no meaning to the cowboy hat, the feathers, the floating chair, the book, the ladder, the train station etc. It's just giving an aesthetic that conveys the feel of the message of the song.
"They seem like nice people", and I think that's the most accurate thing about SHINee. I don't know them personally ofc, but they are always so polite, nice and they seem genuinely honest in everything they do. They're so professional and they always seem to really care about their career and you can see the result of all their efforts in their work and live performances. And after all what they've been through, they're still strong and popular, and they have great songs.

When I first watched the MV I wasn't sure I liked the song to be honest. The dance and the visuals are amazing tho, but listening to it here, I think I'm actually starting to like it.
But it's the first SHINee song I didn't like on the spot so you can imagine just how great the rest of their songs are!
I'm trying to think of their best songs dance wise and vocally wise. Well, as others have said, "Sherlock" is a great one! There is a regular MV, Performance MV and Dance Practice Video for that one.
"Everybody" is amazing too dance wise! The members themselves said it was their hardest/most tiring choreography! It is definitely worth checking out, there is so much happening in that one! (There is a MV and a Dance Practice Video)

I had a similar reaction to the costumes being so different. Maybe the significance is that they all become unified from the piano part til the end. No more red, but all tempered in brown and turquoise (or teal I get them confused), in berets, in step, don’t call him, he’s done, lol.
This is quite a great way to start their comeback since 3 of the members just finished ther mandatory military service the last part of 2020. I admit Chi Min-ho is my bias. I was glad t see him already back actin so soon also in "Lovestruck in the City" .... saw him acting the 1st time in my first K-drama Hwarang a few years ago... totally different vibe than his persona in Don't Call Me...
Btw, Hwarang also started V from BTS, Park Hyung-sik from ZE:A, and Park Seo-joon (one of the best K-drama actors and close friend with V),,, Min-ho even gets to show off his soccer skills and comedic side.
Your description of them was perfect. They are just so likeable and talented. Each has their own distinct style and this song gives nearly equal parts so you get a chance to see each style. Even with the finger move that you talked about, look at how Taemin does it compared to Key. It's the same move basically but each gives it their own feel. I love them
Hahaha yes, they are indeed nice and likeable! SHINee are known in South Korean entertainment industry as polite, nice and overall good people and wherever they go they are treated well because everyone likes them. As a fan of many years, I also believe in my heart that all five of them are genuinely good and kind.
Congrats on your first SHINee comeback 😁 As you know already their unmatched VOCALS, HARMOZINATION and POWERFUL PRESENCE is out of this world theres no other group like them. *I don’t yet have the full meaning but 👀🙀 OMG it gives me Apocalyptic Underground Milita vibes and honestly I think the song speaks for itself talking about all the toxic fake love going around from SASAENGS, ANTIs, Haters and SHINee saying how sick they are of it; wanting it to end.* Don’t even get me started on their outfits ICONIC including hairstyles/colors and scene changes along with choreography 🤯 on top of that during their Vlive/youtube livestream showcase when they were giving spoilers many thought the track was going to be titled "Spam Call" but turns out it was actually "Dont Call Me" and the hilarious thing was they were literally giving their number to fans saying to call them; the deeper I think about it I couldnt stop cracking up knowing how angry the obsessive fangirls are; such a geniuses. *THEY SHOWING EVERYONE HOW ITS DONE* #SHINee #DontCallMe

You mentioned some military motifs, and that could definitely be because three of the members (Key, Onew, and Minho) recently were discharged from the military.
When you said that the way they looked to you like they were really nice people and you only got that from bts, I was shocked because that's how I feel. Except the other way around lol For me I loved shinee first and when bts debuted I was instantly drawn to them because me and jungkook are the same age (back then only a few idols were born in 1997), but I wasn't expecting for everyone else in the group to be so likeable and silly. Some really nice and humble people with a dream. I hadn't felt that way about a group except with my beloved shinee. Now I stan both! If you're drawn to bts because of their genuineness and artistry then I think you'll also come to love shinee for those reasons. Very nice and respectful guys who see each other as family, literally, and who, despite being so nice, still have backbone to stand up to stereotypes and discrimination. They have a lot to offer with their music and performances as well as just them as people.
