- Going out exploring the small mountains here in New England we find the old early settlers sites of the colonial America days. For us in the part of NH it is the mid 1700s that people landed and forged their farms out of the rugged landscape. We look for old rock walls, wagon trails, cart paths and of course cellar holes. The with our Fisher F19 metal detector we find and dig up old artifacts from the 1700s and sometimes 1800s buried in the ground for hundreds of years. On this day we found a bunch of old pewter buttons and one with a crown and pillars on it. Another interesting find was what appeared to be the casted mold part of small musket balls.

This was an intriguing dig. Very enjoyable.
Musket ball mold, biggest mistake of my life. Had one in my hands, threw it away. Found melting pot an dipper afterwards. Mold is now buried in the city dump. Hate to even think of it! N C

9:42 That's a spanish patriotic coin button. They were modeled after they're 8 reales and were often dated. Popular in the colonies and worn as an "in your face" to the British. I've found two. One dated 1764. Thats a great find. Most also were linked buttons (cufflinks).

It's great that you were right about a cellar hole being out there Charlie and though it was quiet you all found some great relics. I cant remember seeing so many pewter buttons with designs on them from one site, and the button Waynos found is a beauty and I wonder what and where it was from? The hammer head is another great find for Waynos, I wonder if you go back there in another few years if other relics will be there? The colours of the leaves are gorgeous and I had to laugh at the leaf that landed on Dame, he was in the right spot for it to have a soft landing lol. You can find them if you find the gun it goes with. Most molds were sold with the gun to ensure they cast the same sized ball. The smooth bore muskets and flintlocks were fired either round ball or buck. Yeah nasty if you think about it. But accuracy played a role in that. Did Waynos ever find out where that button came from? And speaking of,, he finds all the cool stuff!! 🤣🤣 That hammer was a stone masons hammer. And to loose that must have been gut wrenching for that guy. Thanks for a walk through history guys! 👍🎧🇺🇸

Why don't you find an entire garmet's worth of buttons at a single spot? Seems like you would get 5 or 6 identical ones.
Unless a whole shirt or coat was left on the ground we don't normally find full sets of buttons

I have seen the comment that the button is Spanish. To me, it looks like a military engineers button, and it looked English. The Two Towers or castle look just like a modern Army Engineers button.

I wonder if the mic is somehow at ground level or attached to his boot or something. All the crunching and popping from the leaves and stuff drowns out all the other audio and makes these videos nearly unwatchable for me. I have to always mute it until they are showing the finds and then I turn the sound back on

9:42 That's a spanish patriotic coin button. They were modeled after they're 8 reales and were often dated. Popular in the colonies and worn as an "in your face" to the British. I've found two. One dated 1764. Thats a great find. Most also were linked buttons (cufflinks).
