    hmmmm call me silly I have been training in Kyokushin for a lot of years... the guy they say is a Kyokushin fighter seems well NOT TO BE! If he is he's no brown belt he's a beginner... this is a horrible display of Kyokushin.

      Looks like his used to point base matches. It really doesn't look like kyokushin.
      Ex-shotokan student here. When I started the shihan used to teach kyokushin but he gave the school to the sensei and he changed the style to shotokan, don't know how.

    I must agree with you people. I also practice Kyokushin (iko1) and with all due respect the kyokushin fighter in this video is totally afraid of the other guy's kick. Kyokushin is based on strong mental attitude and focus . A kykushin warrior fights with all the fighting spirit, never afraid of the opponent, even if the opponent is ten times stronger. So I must say that the person in this video probably has the technique of Kyokushin but lacks a 100% of the true Kyokushin spirit. Ossu from Chile

    Someone erroneously stated that Sikaran is a copy of TKD. But Sikaran precedes TKD by hundreds of years. It was being practiced by Filipino farmers even before the Spaniards came.

    • @rhadamaru4u
      @rhadamaru4u 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      LoL... TKD the one copy one of the kick. Biakid Kick try rename it to make it own during early years of martial arts computation TKD practioner was KO Biakid Kick by a Sikaran. Base on sikaran style Mid and lower are the main target. While taekwando base on mid and high.

      Thats what is being claimed by sikaran practitioners. But there is no historical evidence for that. The founder Mr. Geronimo was a karateka. And he even adopted the katas from karate.

    • @hsinhaowang

      Probably just humouring the guy. The kicks are rather weak and have no grounding what-so-ever. Shikaran is more like a game to the Pinoy; Karate is the karateka's life.

      The video says Kyokushin, but the guy doesn't fight like a Kyokushin, Ashihara, or Enshin fighter. Reminds me more of Shotokan actually.

    • @altarik
      @altarik 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      HsinHao Wang ... you did not include Seidokaikan. You probably did not know, the founder of Kyokushin which is Masutatsu Oyama who is a Korean based in Japan. Masutatsu Oyama first studied Boxing in young age before entering the Japanese army, and then after the war he started studying Shotokan Karate under Master Funikoshi, then Gojuryu Karate, and finally Judo under master Jigoro Kano... and then he develop and establish the Kyokushin Karate out of what he know about martial arts... and many of Masutatsu Oyama becomes a master and founder of their own style of Karate... as you said.. that include Ashihara Karate, and many student from Oyama come to Ashihara for new style, and then from that 2 another style was born, Seidokaikan and Enshin Karate.. and from it I dont know the other root.. but I have heared another style of Kyokushin where head punches is allowed... imagine that.. that is awesome..

    It's funny how when Kyokushin guys fight against other styles, low kicks are allowed but punches to the face aren't. They fight other styles but always with their own rules.
    I'm not saying Kyokushin is not badass, it is, and one of the few real full-contact styles, but still, would like to see them out of their comfort zone and ruleset.
    (Also, I know Sikaran doesn't use punches and ignore if they allow low kicks, but for his long and low stance, TKD like, probably not)

    in TKD, side kick can be countered by moving to the front left or right and execute back thrust kick or any counter kick. but for kyokushin it usually use walking stance so,, walk side step, low kick to the hips and punch to the abdomen will give a privilege for the next round.
    and again, why train so hard in kyokushin if you still scared to get hit.

    Wonder what the rules were? Both seemed to be at a distance for point fighting (and neither seemed good at bridging the distance which is necessary in that type of match). Yet since there was no stop and start. and since head punches nor strikes were thrown, seemed ideal rules for the kyokushin fighter! I would have expected more forward motion and close range punching from a kyokushinkai fighter, yet his défense seemed like a lower belt in a point fight, retreating in a straight line. Likewise the leg kicks from kyokushin were not happening, and I don’t think the other fighter had much else than his kicks, which were decent, but in close range I think he had not much. Tactical mistake by kyokushin fighter not to get in close and deliver hard punches and leg kicks in my opinion, probably due to lack of experience in knockdown competition.

    I also do Kyokushin and I think you just cannot say "this is not Kyokushin" because they tend not to get in. Sometimes I prefer to back up and counter myself instead of going full beast mode (like you say) . I´m just saying that you can also wait/counter instead of going ful offensive and it still would be Kyokushin. Its the style of the practitioner. But I do have to say this guy missed good opportunities. I would have countered with some good chodan mawashi. That other guy had no guard at all.

    Wow I sense the anger of the dancer masquerading as a fighter... The Kyokushin fighter showed a remarkable restraint against an opponent who continually broke the rules by kicking to the groin and punching to the head.
    Kyokushin has record of treating others well and with respect at their tournaments.
    FYI Kyokushin practitioners have a proven history of street defence, MMA and putting people in the hospital or worse with spinning heel kicks. What does sikaran have except that it looks like TKD?

The Kyokushin guy here though does not seem to be as well-conditioned as most Kyokushin people. He started limping halfway into the fight. The Sikaran guy seemed more conditioned than him.

    Fighter KYOKUSHIN gaya bertarungnya tidak dg loncat-loncat & tangannya tidak turun di bawah begitu.

    i am a kyokushin practitioner and with all of respect this is not kyokushin, the most important thing in kyokushin is not to go back during the fight he must go toward the other guy secondery kyokushin guy must use his powerful kicks .

    The comments about the arts vs art is always wrong. Its always the quality of the exponent that leads to win or a loss....i.e a better fighter regardless of the art he adopts will win. A Boxer may knockout the best karate exponent if he identifies a opportunity and delivers a well timed and placed punch a vice versa . So comments about a martial art is better than the other is stupid and would typically belong to a person with an IQ of

      So according to you.....a Kyokushin Karate fighter will always defeat a fighter from another martial art? so Fedor Emelianenko is going to be beat to pulp by a Kyokushin fighter? or a Buakaw (Muay Thai fighter) would get beat by a kyokushin fighter? ......My belief ...regardless of what discipline you work on...if you train hard enough, fight smart enough, practice, practice, practice - use your strengths and dont let opponent exploit your weakness, you will win. Check out the above fighters they are considered the best fighters in their area ( open/mixed martial arts) and see how they have defeated Kyokushin fighter and they too in turn have been beaten (very very few times) by fighters from other disciplines...so do keep an open mind absorb the good things and become the best..but an art does not make the man..but vice versa.

      I feel it also has to do with understanding your opponents style as well. Its kind of why I'm always training in a striking and grappling style at the same time. On top of looking up styles I've never heard of like this Sikaran.

    Like I said, you watch too many martial arts movies. It's not advisable to kick high on the ground or you lose your footing and the fight goes to the ground. Also, kicks to the back of the head is hard to do and not feasible unless your opponent is a punching bag that doesn't move. Do not confuse fantasy with reality.

  • @marionsmith1847

    I think the guy in the red has a very mean punch and the kicks can be deadly the Koreans have an art that uses a lot of kicks I can’t think of the name but usually kyokushin guys are very tough customers interesting.

      Well originally Sikaran wasn't a martial art. It was simply a game developed by dirt farmers to relieve stress. The game is all about kicking your opponent out of a circle. Check out Yaw Yan. It is a combination of sikaran and Mano Mano or Panuntukan, as well as other martial arts.

    Sorry bud. No. That is a myth sadly. Kata were originally a way of recording a full system without writing it down. They were never intended to be more than a mnemonic device. They were also intended to be customised for each person.
    Modern kata has nothing to do with that. Its only training benefits are fitness and balance. It is an art form in and of itself and has nothing to do with fighting. It is there for fighters to do and focus on when they retire from the tatamae.

    This time, kyokushin could not resolve not the short nor the long distance; the side kick; the timming. Also, few efect made the typical Kyokushin punches. Few low kicks delivered. Most of them didn't land. He wasted opportunities. Being able to kick the sikaranist's hamstring, since it was outlined on the side, he would go far, losing range of reach. Both

    The one- foot, one-sided sikaran has the illusion of being Bruce Lee, the tired kyo- man lost breathing and misses all the opportunities that sikaran offered to him abundantly. A weak college level competition from both sides, not even good for entertainment.
