the new Carnival is priced at RM196,341 on-the-road, inclusive of the government’s 50% sales and service tax (SST) rebate for fully-imported (CBU) vehicles and a five-year/100,000 km warranty. The car comes all the way from South Korea, with CKD local assembly reportedly starting in April.
For the money, you get a 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel, rechristened the Smartstream D2.2 and equipped with a cast iron block instead of an aluminium one. Outputs are rated at 202 PS at 3,800 rpm and 441 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,750 rpm. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
On the outside, the Carnival has been given a comprehensive makeover, sporting a more sophisticated design and a few SUV-style elements such as black body cladding, silver front and rear skid plates and roof rails. At the front, you’ll find a large “tiger nose” grille that ties in the quad LED projector headlights and distinctive LED daytime running lights into a single graphic
The clean side profile features a single shoulder line carrying the bonnet shutline, the door handles and the sliding door rail, plus blacked-out A- and D-pillars that give the car a trendy “floating roof” look. A chrome C-pillar fin, which features a subtle diamond pattern, provides some visual drama, while the rear end incorporates full-width bulb taillights to emphasise the car’s stance.
The Malaysian-market model is fitted with the latest Kia logo introduced this year, which can be found on the bonnet, tailgate, wheel centre caps and steering wheel airbag boss. The car also comes standard with 18-inch Y-spoke two-tone alloy wheels.
Inside, the Carnival is as much of a step-change over its predecessor as the outside, with a horizontal dashboard design, a tall centre console (incorporating a Jaguar-like rotary gear selector) and a freestanding display panel. The latter houses the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as an analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch multi-info display.
Cabin space has been improved thanks to the larger body. The Carnival is 40 mm longer at 5,155 mm, with 30 mm going towards the 3,090 mm wheelbase. The rear overhang has also grown by 30 mm to 1,130 mm, increasing third- and fourth-row space and luggage capacity. Width, meanwhile, is up 10 mm to 1,995 mm.
The 11 seats are spread out over four rows, with the second, third and fourth rows each equipped with three-abreast seating for a 2-3-3-3 configuration. The tiny second- and third-row centre seats are meant for temporary use, as they still only come with lap belts; they can be folded and tipped up to the side to allow for a central walk-through. Unfortunately for those of you with more than two kids, ISOFIX child seat anchors can only be found on the two outer second-row seats.
It goes without saying that the outer second- and third-row seats can slide and recline; they can also be folded and removed for a van-like cargo hold. Moving further rearward, the fourth row is a pop-up bench that can be folded in a single piece to provide some luggage space. Do bear in mind that with all seats up, the boot is practically unusable as the rearmost pews are right up against the tailgate.
In terms of cooling, the Carnival comes with dual-zone automatic climate control for the front occupants and single-zone controls for the second row (in the ceiling on the driver’s side), plus four rear air vents in the roof (two for the second row, two for the third and fourth rows). The vents themselves are of a circular design and are shared with the “van-like” Hyundai Staria. There are also manually-retractable sun shades on the four rearmost side windows.
Standard equipment includes front and rear fog lights, keyless entry, push-button start, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, Saddle Brown faux leather upholstery, a Qi wireless charger, six speakers, a 360-degree camera system and a hands-free powered sliding doors and tailgate.
Under the skin, the Grand Carnival comes with a revamped fully-independent suspension system and reduced noise, vibration and harshness, making for a more relaxed and comfortable drive. To that end, the front of the car features a multi-skeletal cross-member and new geometry to increase stability.
The rear, on the other hand, gets hydro bushings, longer and lower suspension arms, a revised spring layout and an adjusted damper angle to improve ride comfort. The more rigid bodyshell and increased sound insulation further improve refinement. Lastly, the column-mounted electric power steering increases response and quickens the steering ratio by 5.6%.

Tapi masalahnya kereta ni pakai diesel certain driver tak suka pakai diesel. Sebab some tak suka bunyi mcm lori. Pastu reliability dia tak dapat dipastikan. Toyota pula terkenal dengan reliability dia dan part dia berlonggok. Accessories pon banyak. Dan kebanyakkan CEO tak pandang KIA sangat as a luxury brand. Masing2 ada pendapat masing2.

Enjin yg dh diakui antara diesel terbaik didunia. Kos nak bela alphard dan vellfire jauh lebih mahal sebenarnya wpon nampak mcm byk sparepart.
saya dah pakai 3 brand kereta : BMW, KIA Sorento - sama engine KGC and Lepat. Lepat saya pernah 2 kali tukar gear box dalam masa 4 tahun.
Sorento 2.2 CRDI 2018 smp skrg xda apa2 problem walaupun mileage dah 325k km. sebab hari2 drive. BMW pun boleh tahan.
syaratnya service ikut schedule.. and kena tukar apa yg patut di tukar (hantar di authorize service centre sahaja.) insya allah kereta akan sempurna. jgn pakai barang OEM.

big car mcm ni memang sedap pakai diesel. design wise, its better looking than boxy overprice alphard vellfire. high speed stability n NVH better than box mpv. infotainment miles ahead better than toyota.

Kgc ni balance, kepuasan memandu dan penumpang. Mpv lain lebih focuskan kepada penumpang. So kalau nak impressive image dan hebat dekat penumpang, lebih baik pilih yg lain dari kgc.. overall sy lebih suka balance mcm ni.

Masing2 ada pendapat tersendiri sebab semua kereta ada kelebihan dan kekurangan. Saya sejak 2018 guna KGC sangat berpuas hati dengan performance KGC. X nak cakap lebih2, yg dah pakai je tahu memang berbaloi beli. Rasa macam nak apgred je ke model 2022 bila tengok interior dan exterior lebih mantap dr model lama bila tengok review ni. Nanti nak pergi showroom untuk tengok sendiri. Tq
This car is sooo freakin' HUGE in person!!!! Dalam video & gambar tak nmpak sgt. & the driving is so refine & smooth. Rasa mcm Range Rover pun ada. Pickup turbo die mmg perghhhh..almost immediate..I was soo impressed. Kalau ada full digital display, ADAS & Sunroof, mmg dah complete dah kreta ni. & don't worry about the 4th row, sbb it folds totally flat. So xde issue langsung kalau xnak pakai for extra space. 1 jer yg dissapointing skit for this CBU spec, rear tail lights semua pakai bulb, instead of LED. Agak unacceptable laa considering its already 2022. It should be standard in all variants in the future.

Memang dah lama tahu KIA Grand Carnival ini berbaloi daripada Alphard dan Vellfire. Selesa, luas dan pick-up diesel jangan cakaplah. Dah merata bawa family dengan Carnival ni sampai naik feri ke Langkawi. Passenger kalau naik belakang terus tidur sebab selesa sangat. Beli masa GST tak ada, basic model, tukar leather seat dan floor mat pakai TRAPO. Boleh pakai Android Auto lagi.

Disebabkan abang buat vid review kereta ni cakap lagi baguih dari alphard maka saya sebagai pemegang lesen D terpaksa buat test side by side. Mmg betul handling carnival lagi sedap but by really small margine maybe sebab dia rendah tapi riding alphard lagi best, orang biasa tak akan perasan ,kalau bontot sensitive mcm Aryton senna jer boleh rasa. Tapi carnival ni not as refined as an Alphard. Power delivery alphard much smoother than carnival. Braking pon Alphard lagi sedap. Dan minyak ron 95 lagi murah dari diesel euro 5. Pastu door trim dia ada part plastic yang ada silver streak ntah cmne kia punya QC tak nampak. All in all Kia carnival is a good car. But is it better than an Alphard hmm no. Btw saya suka betul abang punya revieww dari dulu2 lagi tengok2 skang dah ada puluhan ribu orang dah subscribe. Tahniah. I love Melaka cars

Unfortunately folks still lack taste and still go for those boxy Ahbeng-ish out of proportion AhFart and Vefailer. Too many on the road. Folks need to feed ego, having thoss models will feed their ego. If the ugly chromes, skirtings, bumper and fake air vents are not enough then adding some stickers or blue lights will elevate a little. Left right front back, many of these cartoon looking gundams on the road. FOMO? I bet. Then there are those who afraid of resale value, it's that is so, pls go and invest in good stocks and properties, don't buy a car. They ain't luxury at all, just a fake perceiveness of luxury. 90 styled dashboard, cluttered, Ahpek steering wheel. Sorry AhFart and Vefailer owner or wannabe owners.

To much focusing on body-rolling. If anyone want a performance car, don’t go out looking for an MPV. If this does perform well, great. But it’s not a main feature to be compared with other MPVs.
its not about performance car. its more on comfort. If body roll is significant, u will feel it even when not taking a corner, specially those sitting on the back. Try it on a undulated road and see. Just my 2 cent opinion
