When Sam Goldwyn can (with great conviction) instruct Anna Sten in diction, then Anna shows... *_Anything Goes!_*

Mae Clarke steals the show for me. What a talent she was!

Unfortunately she & co-star Holmes were in a drunk driving scandal that scarred her & impeded both careers.

Anna Sten was a very beautiful and talented women Unfortunately for her signing with Goldwyn was a terrible career decision The three films she did for his studio are Star vehicles, at another studio like MGM she probably had been a great star

Not exactly the novel, but great acting.

@6dewinter With more star ⭐s than there are in the heavens McDonald, Garbo, Crawford, Loy, Dressler, Shearer? No. Goldwyn biggest independent producer in Hollywood, if he couldn't do it no one could. Co-star Phillips Holmes went to MGM & his career declined with loss of Irving Thalberg.

I really like Anna Sten very much, too bad Goldwyn had to over publicize her as the new Garbo which would have killed any actresse's career, it also killed off Tala Birel, Sari Maritza & Gwili Andre in the exact same way
