Man, I miss my home “the old New Orleans”. Whenever I go back now, it’s just not the same. Hurts my lil heart 😢. This mix took me back to the good days. Thank you!
Ablk Queen Chile, I would. But I’m working on moving to West Africa. But I’m always grateful that I’m from there, and my family is still there, so I always have a place to go when I’m in the States.
Clark Clark Hey! So as a visitor, the vibe hasn’t changed that much (other than out of towners coming in and making profit by claiming they’re locals, etc.). Some give back to the community, some don’t. But as a resident, it’s a complete 180 degrees turn. The neighborhood structure and communities that were once there are gone. Granted the crime rate was never the best, but I never felt unsafe. Walked, caught the bus, etc. with no problems (and I’m talking about when I was young 😂). Neighbors looked out for each other, people spoke to you when you pass each other on the streets, the list can go on.. (straight Caribbean vibe, minus the pretty water haha!) And I overstand that gentrification happens/is happening everywhere. I’ve lived in other cities like DC and witnessed how it happens “normally”. It just never sat well with me (and other Nola locals), on how fast it happened after Katrina. Almost like it was planned 🤔. Many black home owners’ homes were sold w/o their permission. It was a crazy time, but that’s another story for another day lol. All in all, I’m glad you had a great time, because I do too when I go back. It just stings a little when the injustices done to the people is why many were not able to come back to live.
Damn, @10:26................just gave me the chills. Ole Sckool, Club "New Edition", 7th ward...........roll to "Silky's".........."Berda's".........then to "Seal's" all on a Sunday night. Pre-Katrina. There's no other city like New Orleans, just our culture alone........... CAN'T NO OTHER 2022. By the way 49yrs young
Shoutout to all the “babies” of the family who was raised by older parents or siblings! In my 20’s but I’m the baby so I was blessed to have so many elders surrounding me💙🙏🏽
I am from Chicago and my boyfriend is from New Orleans and let me tell you they have rubbed off on me in so many ways. I find myself listening to old music that has a meaning. But this New Orleans bounce I cannot stop playing. I can’t wait to go visit his family and eat all of they good food. Y’all know they known for how good they food is.
