  • @idraote

Part of the charm of the song is its ambiguity.
Watching them on stage, one would think they are singing about their love for each other. The official video, though, has them singing about their own love story, Mahmood with a man and Blanco with a woman.
Fact is, both interpretations are possible, you can take what you want from the song because its meaning lies deeper than the technicality of "whom are they singing about?".
That said, I think the song has been composed with the Eurovision in mind.
It's in Italian but anyone can see how it is meant to be understood by everyone, regardless of the language.
I have no idea whether it will actually win Sanremo - it's among the favourites but there are two other strong contenders. If it does and goes to Eurovision, it will certainly rank high... It might even win, but I hear there is a tradition of not having a country winning two times in a row and I have no idea how good the other Eurovision songs are.

♥️♥️ For your reaction! So many words I want to say. This is THE most beautiful, emotional, melodically and harmonywise best song made in a long time, with THE best singers interacting togethet Ive ever heard!! I just heard a snippet of it before they released the whole song and I could tell already that this is unbeatable, both in my heart and in ESC? The harmonies with the strings bring me as listener from emotions varm, to hope, to tears of joy, Im FULLFILLED and the volume in this masterpiece is endless. They are feeling every word, passionate, how their voices interacts - perfection. Italy is a ledgend bringing theese emotional songs. I cant help think of another master writing theme to the film "Piovra" Ennio Morricone, "Mille Ecchi" for ex. is a masterpiece in strings with theese harmonies that grabs you so hard to stop breathing almost. Like this song do. (If Spain wins over this song, they should really consider to shange it to ESC DANCE contest instead excuse me), cause this is what MUSIC is about to peoples hearts. Ciao and love! ♥️🌺😊

I want to explain something about the song☺ It is not solely a gayfriendly song, It's the story of two solitudes, a gay man and a heterosexual man that share the same incapacity to express their feelings to the loved ones, losing everything. It's a message of equality and one of the first examples of pop music where they tear down the virtual wall that always separates the sentimental lives of hetero & gay men. Actually they were not flirting on stage. Sanremo is the italian music contest only for italian music. It's not a selection for the Eurovision contest, absolutely not. In Europe many countries have this wrong idea. But In italy we have this our own historical contest just for us. This is the 72nd edition OLDER than Eurovision. Eurovision contest was born inspired by the Italian one. In the past the winners were not usually to participate to the Eurovision because Sanremo was enough, now they partecipate just for marketing to sell more album.

Blanco is completely free minded about sexuality and though he's heterosexual he does not mind kissing men in his videos. What is funny is the shyness of Mahmood who keeps a sort of emotional distance during this performance, had it been for blanco they would have surely make out on stage ahahahaha. In the official video Mahmood celebrates his coming out finally...

I dreamed I was flying with you
    On a diamond bike
    You told me “You've changed
I don't see light in your eyes anymore"
    What are you afraid of?
A sea you can never touch
    Even if sex isn't
    Really an escape route
Come on, don't run away from here
    Don't leave me like this
    Naked with the shivers
Sometimes I don't know how to express myself
And I'd like to love you, but I always mess up
I'd like to steal a pearly sky for you
    I'd pay to get out
    I'd even accept a lie
I'd like to love you, but I always mess up
And I get the shivers, shivers, shivers
You, who wake me up in the morning
You, who spill wine in bed
    You, who bite my skin
    With your snakelike eyes
And you, you're the opposite of an angel
And you, you're like a boxer in their corner
And you run away from here, you leave me like this
    Naked with the shivers
Sometimes I don't know how to express myself
And I'd like to love you, but I always mess up
I'd like to steal a pearly sky for you
    I'd pay to get out
    I'd even accept a lie
I'd like to love you, but I always mess up
And I get the shivers, shivers, shivers
    Tell me I'm wrong
    I live inside a prison
I try to stay close to you
Sorry if I make everything go to shit
I don't know how to tell you how I feel, it's my problem
For an "I love you" I mixed drugs with tears
This venom that we spit at each other every day
I don't want it on me anymore
    You see it, I'm here
On a diamond bike, one among many
    Naked with the shivers
Sometimes I don't know how to express myself
And I'd like to love you, but I always mess up
I'd like to steal a pearly sky for you
    I'd pay to get out

Great reaction Shane! To me this was definitely the best song of the evening, a couple of notch above all the others, you're right it's about being bad a loving and Mahmood and Blanco sing it like they're the two lovers involved which I don't know if it's true but the raw emotion is 100% true and can I say is great that somethng like this is sung by two guys which I think is a first. I was sure this would have been doing well with the jury however for the final and the televote people not watching the show and listening only on the radio might not get the emotional level and the poetry of the lyrics and prefer something lighter. My runing up are "Ciao ciao" La rappresentante di lista and "Ti amo ma non lo so dire" by Noemi also written by Mahmood, what do you think about them??

They faced an important theme, love without barriers, love without prejudice, love that knows no gender, with great sensitivity. It is a theme that can be addressed in many ways, but they have chosen a difficult one. Facing the love of two different generations, and joining in a single love story💘 Google translation

It’s a good song, and they performed it pretty well, but it just left me cold. I’m not sure what I was expecting but it didn’t leave me excited for it at all. Don’t know if I’m just not seeing something, or just not connecting with it but … meh.

I don't like when artist who have already achieved success on Esc is comming back, because people tend to see them differently. Some have high expectations and some don't really care about the song, only about the artist. I wasn't the biggest fan of Soldi. I like it, it was my 8th place, but still not my winner. So I think I can judge this song pretty objectively. I really like it. Beautiful harmonies, great voices and really good chorus. But verses are a little bit flat for me. Maybe because simply I don't understand the language. My score is 7/10. I haven't heard other songs so I can't say if it is my winner, but definately it doesn't give my the winner vibes. At least not the Eurovision winner. Btw none of the songs I've heard in all of the NFs give me that instant winner vibes.

I respect your opinion, but last night I listened to all 12 songs and find both song and performance 3 levels higher than every other one. Definitely not a potential ESC winner (but either the ballade from Portugal at ESC 2017 didn't give me winner vibes ...).

    • @nicolascarpa638
      @nicolascarpa638 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

Sanremo doesn’t solely focus on winning to go to ESC. Artists don’t “come back” for this purpose, the winner can actually decide not to perform at Eurovision; it’s the festival of Italian music so Italian singers attend it when they think they have a valuable song to present. There are artists who partecipated many times, even for many years in a row.

In Sanremo the singers return because it is an excellent showcase for the singers and to move on to the radio .. And very followed Esc and only a bonus for them.. I don't know if mahmood won his intentions regarding Esc

I love the message, it's beautiful, but the singing was problematic for me, especially when Mahmood say "brividi", which is the most important segment of the song, it sounds squeaky and unpleasant in my ears, like he's making an effort to produce the sound.
