    • @dondajulah4168
      @dondajulah4168 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I believe this is true to some extent. While a lot of players now are identified early and are coddled as they move through the system, there is a certain fire in the belly that some guys just lack. Not sure it is fair to say that this is due to economic circumstances as there numerous examples of guys growing up in abject poverty, abusive households, etc and having all the talent in the world and then blowing everything by taking the easy route.
      I think it is fair to say that if you go through the all time list of guys in every sport who were busts with the highest level of ability, guys coming from worse childhood environments would be massively over-represented. Tom Brady would be my counter-point to Joe Dimaggio. Brady came from a well to do family with all the benefits that come with the "easy life". He transformed himself from an average talent coming out of college into the GOAT through shear drive and determination to be the best.

    @mykofreder1682 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    A single setup QB, he sets his feet in the direction of the throw and that's it. You typically don't see single setup QBs do things in the middle of the field, you see guys reading the QB and not the routs, if he setup right you probably would see the zone defenders sag right. It gets real crazy when they start laying routs in the direction of the setup, 2 or 3 routs, on big plays like 3rd down the defenders will commit to the QB with little risk and create a mosh pit on that right side of the field. To find a good QB watch the feet before the setup, bad QBs setup in a direction while potentially good ones spend a second scanning things then set on a good choice and they are flexible enough to set on the outlet on a blitz and don't have to blindly reset to an outlet that may be on the opposite side of the field.

    I'm no Rosen fan, but that INT in Miami wasn't ALL his fault. His WR just stood there and waited instead of coming back to the ball knowing he had defenders all around him. Yes timing matters, but WRs gotta help their QB out as well

    The problem in evaluating busts this way in an attempt to project future players is that it boils down immense complexity into results-oriented thinking. No quarterback, or almost no quarterback, is a ready-made prospect coming out of college. You are having to project areas of growth for these young players. Rosen had issues for sure. And they were issues that could be fixed. In fact, they are issues that *can* still be fixed. There are reasons to doubt that they will be, but we are talking about deficiencies that can be mitigated or removed by hard work and study. If a guy has a bum arm, if his mechanics are fine, there is little hope. But projecting a guy to get better at recognizing blitzes and protections is not some oversight by scouts. Everyone needs to improve at that from the college level.
    Players need to be drafted into situations that will cultivate their talent, accentuate their upside, mitigate their weakness, and accelerate their development. Sometimes a bust is on the player, sometimes it's on the team, sometimes it's on circumstance. But to take a look and that class and say in retrospect obviously Josh Allen would correct mechanical issues and improve in reading defenses pre-snap and Rosen would not correct issues diagnosing blitzes pre-snap and adjusting his reads is revisionist at best. I agree with the reasons Jackson mentioned as being immense factors as to Rosen's lack of NFL success to date. But it's only part of the picture, and there is maybe not actually much to take away from it. All of these guys are projections.

    • @shawnzadeh2600
      @shawnzadeh2600 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not being able to read a defense pre snap, go through progressions, having no anticipation when throwing WRs open, and bad decision making usually can’t be fixed. You see from day one if a prospect is the franchise qb based on the little things. Josh allen showed flashes, and eventually developed to what he is. Rosen never showed any signs of improvement to come

    • @shawnzadeh2600
      @shawnzadeh2600 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It also doesnt help when you are not mobile to make up for what you are lacking as a passer…. Problem with Rosen is he panicks too much just like Darnold. Josh allen succeeded because of his rushing ability, his problem was never being able to read a defense or anticipation or progression or mobility, his problem was accuracy which is ONE of if not the only flaw a prospect can have that can be coached and fixed.

  • @axe2grind772
    @axe2grind772 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you’re not ready to be good right away you better not declare for the draft and it’s as simple as that. Josh Allen had a .500 record with a god awful team with Zay Jones as his #1 wr as a rookie because he understood the simple concept of having to be good now. Shouldn’t have been a difficult concept for Rosen considering he acted like a smug know it all. Ironic.

    Scouts and teams really should look at the teams record when looking at a QB. The excuse well its a team game works for every position but QB they effect the whole team and if they aren't completely outmatch can elevate the team to a win or make it close.
    Now almost every QB prospect will have a winning record but if their last season the teams falters you need to look into it. Rosen, Trubisky, and Hackenberg are all evidence of this with Rosen and Hackenberg they came in 5 stars to big programs had a great freshman year but then their teams regressed after. Trubisky he came into a team that went 10 wins the year before and they only won 8. That QB went undrafted no one stopped and asked why did their teams falter.
    Mahomes is the exception to the rule but you could tell he was doing everything he could on a bad team. Look at the starting QBs and you will see their teams got better in college as they gained more experience and leadership. So I think that is why teams need to look at how much the teams succeeded if they didn't you need to take a hard look if you did you would've avoided a few of the busts.

  • @britneyystaples91
    @britneyystaples91 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It really matters who drafts you, teams make the mistake of drafting a QB before they build a team around him, they gotta atleast build an Oline and get a few WRs than draft a QB,alot of these teams draft a QB with no Oline or WRs and it destroys the QBs confidence, or if you see a QB you gotta have draft him and if you dont have the Oline or WRs sign a veteran bridge QB and redshirt the rookie for a year or 2 to learn under the veteran,thats why you see these later drafted QBs doing better than top 3 picks because usually the later the QB gets drafted the better team will be around him

Traded to the dolphins, 1st year head coach, an atrocious line again and they traded away all their talent to tank. So yeah, you can say he's a bust but honestly he's never had anything around him, football is a 60+ man sport, including coaching and what not, no qb can instantly make or break a team if they have nothing but that qb

His mother is from the Lippincott Publishing company and father founded the Wharton School of business that is Trump’s favorite. Jay Fiedler, the last successful QB of Miami faced the same ethnic discrimination with the Dolphins and the media was always about who would replace him to become the next Dan Marino. Josh made one mistake. He should have stayed in Tampa. San Francisco will never give him a fair opportunity to compete. He went there because it’s home. I wish him well. He will still make it as Foles did in Philadelphia. Maybe that’s where he should go! He may beat out Jalen Rose.

    I still think Rosen could make it in this league. You are correct. He was slow reading blitzes (typical rookie problem). He also made some great accurate throws. He tried too hard to fit it into small windows. He didn’t grasp some of the more advanced concepts. But that’s all typical. He didn’t have the legs to be a running threat. I think he was thrown into the fire too early and asked to do too much too soon. He also didn’t have the play design of Kliff Kingsburg at his disposal like Kyler Murray. The jury is still out. I am not ready to labe him a bust yet. If he keeps improving he could step into a starting spot and perform if someone gets injured. I think Sam Darnold is much more of a bust than Rosen. Darnold played for three years and failed to impress anyone. But he also played for a bad team with a bad coach.
