- Wash up with this video. Take a look to find out the chemical reaction of saponification and how the soap works. Just to balance it out there is also a look at biodiesel, a good use of old cooking oil.
still helpful after 10 years
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much for these videos! They have been super helpful :)
You're very welcome!
thank youuuuu so much!!!!! the videos are actually helpful...
Glad you like them!
Do we have to learn the whole soap structure?
Great Video
Hi, I am a bit confused about the soap part. You circled the O- group as hydrophillic but everywhere i've looked it says that the COO- group is hydrophillic and the rest of the hydrocarbon chain is hydrophobic
Yes I think it’s an error too. I forgive him though cause his other videos are brilliant.
Shouldnt the Oxygen in the ester be part of the carboxylic acid? I see u made it a part of the triglyceride in the drawing
Agreed - glad it’s not just me that sees the glycerol looses the OH not just the H. Also the ester can’t lose the O the ion can’t exist in that form.
To be fair this error is all over the internet even in the CGP A level revision book. Have to search far and wide to find it correct. I trust Chemguide.
