"Valve Time" is an unfortunate consequence of how Valve is organized as a company, which basically boils down to people being able to freely work on whatever project they want almost whenever they want.
Great for employee morale and innovation, horrendous for maintaining games for long-term, especially if they aren't big money makers like CS:GO or DOTA 2.
In addition, Valve is also the kind of company that does something if they believe that it could radically change gaming, hence Half-Life: Alyx and why they're pushing VR.
This is pretty much the reason why I would rather NOT work at Valve, Sony, and Microsoft at all (For Nintendo I can make an exception), etc. I would rather take my time to become an indie game developer for my own products to be fair. And I would rather delay my stuff to further polish things and fix bugs than release it as a broken glitchy mess.
I have the sins!
*Square Enix - Vanity
- Putting out games and making decisions, statements and remarks comprehensible only to them.
*Activison - Gluttony
-Eating up other companies like candy and having so much money that even if they lose some via lawsuit, they're still fine because they have a constantly high revenue of profit income.
*Konami - Wrath
-Ruthless and uncaring to their employees and in recent memory, ruining their most beloved franchises. With Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps being the worst offenders.
*Rockstar - Lust
-They love to flirt with controversy and adult content. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as the game is good. And Rockstar usually has a strong track record with the quality of their games. And I respect that. They continue to play by their own rules and go all the way with whatever they did no matter how much trouble it got them in. With the exception of Bully and LA Noire as those were more toned down in terms of violence and adult content.
(For the record, I also considered Koei Techmo for fanservice. But as I said, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just take a look at Dead or Alive)
*EA - Greed
-Hellbent on extorting players via pay-to-win/get anything done. Dungeon Keeper Mobile, anyone? At least they fixed Battlefront 2 (2017) and IT'S pay-to-win mechanics.
*Sega - Envy
-Chasing trends to try to be the next big thing and overseas fighting with themselves.
*Sony - Pride
- I think these arrogant claims sum up their ego best. "Microsoft is not a technology company." "Nothing good has ever come from the internet." Wake up and be ready to hold everyones beer!
*Blizzard - Hollow
- Nothing more than a shell of its former self. No emotion, no care, no effort. They've essentially become a zombie or a lifeless drone with no will or emotion of it's own. Especially in recent memory what with tone-deaf (if not taste or heart-deaf) responses to negative backlash.
And
*Valve - Sloth
-Neglecting franchises, poor customer service, and no 3rd installments.
Andrew Haase well considering Nintendo recently announced that they will have UNCENSORED games on switch, and that recently they seem to have an obsession with taking the shirts off of male characters like Mario and link (throw eggman in I guess) and making characters really buff like dedede, they fit in right into lust surprisingly well oh yeah and apparently one of the things they did before game development was “taxi service and love hotels”
Hey buddy we need to add more clothes to some of Bayonettas costumes.
No no her skin must be shown more, change it. Also let's have Bowser punch angels.
Nintendo is definitely Pride, and you could argue that their desire to cling to cartridges for the N64 and the Wii-U in general was a lusting after the old instead of embracing the new.
The problem Valve has is that Steam makes them so much money, they don’t need to make any more games, which makes Half-Life Alyx’s mere existence a miracle.
can someone or you help me on this one cuz i dont know if valve is...
greedy, idiotic, careless, OR ALL THREE
Connor Dubstepbee Corsi The 5th one.
I heard it's called " Shove it up your a-" Worse than being greedy, selfish, and lazy.
@Chic 'N' Stu except almost everyone agrees it's one of the best VR games so far.
It's like they have the ability to make some of the most interesting, charismatic, and fun games of all gaming but just don't because they dont want to. I mean Half Life Alyx had an amazing story just so they can show HDTF how to make a game
@Chic 'N' Stu The only reason they didn't use VR for Portal is because Valve believed it would give people headaches.
Steam's customer service SUCKS. I lost my Steam account in a power outage, and it was in this weird limbo of being logged in and not logged in. When I tried to log in, it said I should set up an account, but when I tried to set it up, it would tell me to use the account that I couldn't log in to. After that, I gave up.
Did you try another computer? Their account hashes corrupt too easily, it seems. I once had a problem with my Gmod subscriptions and had to unsubscribe from everything.
As for me, Steam stopped working entirely after a power outage. If I hadn't bought my Ipad a few days before my laptops battery died I wouldn't have been able to play AQ3D again, and all our worlds on minecraft were gone. Thank goodness we have the Switch version now.
So does that mean you can't access games you paid for anymore? Because if so that is complete bullshit and Valve is robbing you by not fixing the problem.
Prince Daniel
I only had two games (Mad Max and TF2). I just couldn't download other games. So to answer your question, I could access those games.

CS:GO: Too many VAC bans.
TF2: Too little VAC bans.
Eh, with TF2 it doesn't exactly matter as the cheaters can just spin up a new Steam (thus TF2) account within minutes (and not even need to spin up new email addresses if using a trick with Gmail and periods before the at symbol) and boom they're back in TF2 with their cheats without needing to redownload or rebuy the game because it's the low-low cost of Free.
Plus if a cheater is smart enough to know how to spin up spare accounts for TF2 cheating, they're likely not gonna be cheating on their main Steam account anyway, so Valve don't give a damn sadly.

Nintendo Playstation: Created their biggest rival, all over disks.
Virtual Boy: Worst selling Nintendo console, around for less than 1 year, gave people headaches and strain.
E3 2008: The most embarrassing from Nintendo, especially with the Wii Music segment.
Nintendo Switch Online: Poorly handled, only NES & SNES games, 4 games every few months, can all be bad.
@@ArceusBowser212 I'm going to add the Wii U to that list, a console with good potential squandered by poor marketing.
@@dylansmith5206 "No unlockable content."

Okay, dumbass, explain to me how only starting out with eight playable characters in Ultimate and having to unlock the rest through Classic Mode or World of Light means that it has no unlockable content. I dare you to explain that to me, because a simple Wiki search can tell anyone that you're lying through your ass.
I don't care what gripes you have with Ultimate, but if you're going to be a contrarian and complain about one of the best games ever made, then at least be honest and sincere instead of making up shit that's untrue. It just makes you look stupid.
(Also, why is the Piranha Plant named Rebecca?)
This is what happens to a company that doesn't really have any true competition. They can get away with this. It also doesnt help valve has a dedicated fan base that will literally take a bullet for them.

Once all the floors of Nintendos failures have been scrubbed, then we can talk about mercy.
Will there be lots of spaghetti?
So in the end Valve is nothing more then one of the seven sins: sloth
My predictions:
Steam's piss-poor quality control is gonna be the no. 1.
TF2: neglected (few other franchises as well), Meet Your Match, being the first western game to introduce lootboxes
Maybe just the economy of Valve titles in general
Artifact
Lots of scammers and hackers

Same
Nintendo is my personal favorite game company, but I’ve waited for him to do them for a while
It’s understandable. As I mentioned before, it’s important to acknowledge that even the best gaming companies have had their fair share of hiccups:
- Failed consoles like the WiiU and the Virtual Boy.
- Ignoring certain IPs that fans have begged to make a comeback for years (Earthbound, F-Zero, Star Fox, etc.)
- Cease-and-desisting fanmade projects of their franchises (Pokémon Uranium and the Super Metroid remake).
- Questionable decisions when handling their mobile games.
- The embarrassing Wii Music E3 conference.
- Wii and DS shovelware.
One of the mistakes is op smash bros characters
Meta knight in brawl and bayonetta in smash 4 as examples
Creation of Sonys PlayStation is most definitely number 1. Though it's not as bad other companies like Bethesda and Konami.
My guesses:
-No Half Life 3
-Attempt at Paid Mods
-Hacker steals Half Life 2
-Crate Depression of TF2
-Artifact
-Never finishing TF2 comic series

what started out as one of the Kings of PC FPS games, has been slowly left to rot by a company that doesn't care, despite the fact that now more than ever should be the time to throw their full support behind it, what with industry competition and esport prevalence
I left after the horrible introduction of matchmaking for official game modes, leaving players to either suffer long wait times for servers to fill up or try their luck on fan servers. Apparently that was the beginning of the end for it, I left before the bottom *REALLY* dropped out.

@@killercheemstar3088 Zeno, who's that guy? (He changed his name to Menozit)
On the Nintendo list, no Dexit. That's more on Pokemon Company than Nintendo.
Pokémon's fails are really tough to attribute to a single company. You can pin everything on The Pokémon Company but we don't know how much their influence causes the actual developers to mess up. Is Dexit Game Freak's fault? Is Gates to Infinity Spike Chunsoft's? What about the Americanized censorship in their early dubs, does that count as a "Pokémon Fail"?
@@BearfaxII The early censorship in the dubs is so obviously 4kids' fault
@@BurningAzure That's my point, Pokémon is such a massive franchise with so many companies involved that doing a video on just one would... kind of be impossible. He'd probably have to branch out from company fails to straight up brand fails.
Honestly, Dexit wasn't a fail, but a controversy. Millions of people liked the idea of Dexit and just as many hated it. Sure, it split the fans, but the games were still great and the Pokémon not in Gen 8 are still going to be leased in future generations. But you are right, Dexit was not caused by Nintendo. I believe that Game Freak was the culprit because the director for SWSH admitted that this was an idea that Game Freak tossed around during the early development for Sun and Moon. That's my take on the situation, though.
For hats and other cosmetics in TF2: it doesn't matter what anybody said about them that's positive, they were ALWAYS worthless, and they always will. The only optional thing to buy in TF2 that's worth anything are the assortment of weapons
That Artifact: DOTA card game reveal is absolutely priceless in how funny it is; the realisation in the fans' "awwwwwww!" interrupting one reading the subtitle out-loud, is some of the best directing I've ever seen, that didn't actually have any direction. XD!
To be fair with 5 that is a really hard problem to solve that will create backlash no matter what you do. I mean they can't just take away the hats since not everyone was trying to exploit the bug. Making the hats worthless (as in taking away their status) is also a no and potentially a breach of contract with the people that made them. Creating a new tier of hats could ruin the games economy even more.
So... a Jim Sterling shoutout, and using 2.5 instead of 3? Well done.
I'm not really familiar with this company but this should be very interesting

You know things are bad when some of the newer employees at Valve are so disconnected from the market they work for they think Valve time referees to the fact that most of them don't work particularly long hours (apparently it's normal for most of their office to be empty by 4). I have to wonder where they're getting their newer staff given it's not anywhere remotely relevant to what they do as a company.
Ninteno's next.....its been 84 years
Calling some of the Nintendo fails now
-Nintendo Mobile with their mobile game passes
-Switch Online
-Wii U
-Third Party Nonexistent till switch
-PlayStation creation/Nintendo CDI
-Virtual Boy
-Backlash for Byleth is smash as a dishonorable mention
.... Let's be fair here. Backlash wouldn't be something that could be blamed to Nintendo. If you want to consider backlash as a 'fail' point, then you should blame the fandom that began the backlash because they can't stand Nintendo not doing as they desired. If you insist blaming Nintendo, then blame them for adding Byleth at all, not the backlash that happened because of it.
Speaking of Smash, does Smash 4 count as a fail when its DLCs cost more than the game? Will Ultimate now be the next victim?
How's this for a real epic fail on Valve's end?

16:56 I swear that’s one heck of a story. I’m sure that if the Devs just stayed quiet and didn’t go after Jim because of a review, they’d likely still be in business. But they didn’t and took it a step further by trying to sue up to 100 Steam users for “hate and harassment,” when they were taking Jim’s side.
Their biggest mistake was going to Valve and asking them for the personal information of all these users to send the suits.
Valve basically laughed in their face and shut down their entire store, killing their business almost immediately.
Their whole lawsuit was also laughable as they didn’t even have a lawyer. They tried to crowdfund one as if they thought that would work.

Ah, Nintendo. The good boy of the gaming industry. You can always count on them for giving a damn, but even the best of boys will screw something up.
Even THEY haven't forgotten the Virtual Boy.
Their screws ups tend to come from being needlessly stubborn or just plain tone deaf when it comes to decisions. Paper Mario Sticker squad and Color splash are perfect examples of that.
With the Virtual Boy, I like how Nintendo frequently acknowledges it and even has it the butt of some jokes.
Remember "All hail the Virtual Boy?"
Yeah man even I am victim of the faulty VAC system that Valve implemented, and to this day I still only have a single game listed that I've ever been banned from simply because of how broken it is, the game I was playing, MORDHAU, I had no problem playing at all until all of a sudden during some early morning matches I got VAC-banned for literally nothing despite me being in a series of 6 matches where I primarily did bad. :/
There needs to be some sort of law that prevents a platform like Steam from essentially holding all your digital property hostage. The Steam platform itself doesn't uniquely provide anything of value but it's still able to collect high levels of rent simply because there's no feasible way for users and developers to leave the Steam ecosystem. If we're going to take the idea of "digital property" seriously, then there's no good reason for one platform to have exclusive control over how you access your property. Platforms like Steam should play by the same rules as brick and mortar stores.

What else ya got? It's worth a dishonorable mention, but I would say the CD-i doesn't fully count since Nintendo only allowed those games to be made because of a contractual agreement with Phillips.
Dude. Your outro never gets old. I love it!
Nintendo is on the chopping block next!
Half-Life 2: Episode 3. That is all.
You know what I love more than the title card?
How you chose to reveal that next month will be Nintendo: by spoofing the reveal of Smash Ultimate (and by indirection the Inkling as a fighter).
That was just genius! You actually had me going "Wait, is this Nintendo? Is he doing Nintendo next? HE'S DOING NINTENDO!!!"
Congratulations for that alone!
Josh, please PLEASE discuss how Nintendo sided with Philips to create CD based games in the Nintendo fails list. That action led to Sony creating the Playstation 1 and mopping the floor with every other console for nearly a DECADE and still is a powerful force today.
Well I guess we've come full circle. Let's see how nintendo messed up.
Is TF2 still going? I know there’s a lot of user created content and I hear about some big 2020 update but is it still popular?
The Broken Bannett that’s good. Part of me feels like TF2 is gonna be going strong for a long time if anything for how memetastic it is.
yes, and there's this thing called creators.tf where the community makes their own updates, all community-run

I finally got the joke, because Value can’t count to 3.
Glad to see your still having fun, Josh.
Welcome to Half Life 3. Let's hope it was worth the wait!
Meanwhile everyone's a skeleton
Seriously guys, what's using the Epic Game Launcher like?
Also, I'd love TFJ to make a top 10(or more) best comedic relief characters.
To be honest it's just like installing anything. The store itself works, but it definitely doesn't have the same features as Steam, but hey if you want free games every week and only care about launching games, then there's no real problem. Note it also depend on your PC.
The last Half-Life game that came out was Black Mesa, which was made by fans.
I fear no man, but pyro has just been singing ”Fire Fire Fire” for the last hour and...it scears me
Welcome to top 10 Valve fails. After 9 years of countdown making, hopefully it’ll have been worth the wait.
Thanks, and have fun!
Oh, we will!
GABE N GABE N GABE N
Still more worthwhile than waiting for Valve to get its head out of its ass.
*obligatory worth the weight joke*
