You may be right Chris... But, I believe GM's net horsepower ratings started in 1972 not 1971. The biggest difference for horsepower rating drop from the 70 Chevelle's 450 horse LS-6 to the 71 Corvette's 425 horse LS-6 was GM's across the board compression ratio drops in all models in 1971. The Chevelle had 11:1 or more and I believe the Corvette was around 9:1. Fortunately for us Ford and Mopar held out for one more year with high compression. And I'll defer to you on all things Pontiac. 😁!
