As a joiner/ carpenter with 30 years bench and site experience, it’s great to see work executed well.. from its explanation to installation.. great video Tony and the team.. your video on the curved stair case and the many other uploads I’ve shown to the apprentices and improvers to Watch and learn from.
Hi Jonathan thank you for your kind words it’s much appreciated it’s what we started this journey for because the U.K. has many incredible trades people in different trades, Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
Great video. You make it look so easy. Really appreciate the way you’ve broken it up step by step as it makes it easier to follow but also allows me to Google the individual step if I want to learn more.
A gem of a video Tony. Unbelievably timely as I have to do my own home made trusses etc for the wife’s old stone stealing. I have Young Dan’s square as well. The walls are 2 ft thick and not square, so I have put what I learnt from you fellas into practice and git it sorted.
Nice job 👍 I like to put the truss on the plate and level the ceiling cord and then strike a plumb line up outside edge of wallplate on to the truss to determine my birds mouth. Everyone does things differently but that's how you learn, as long as the end result is there then its all good 👍 Top tip, once you've marked out the wall plate stack your 1x4 on top keeping the ends flush to the inside block work and then square all your truss marks on to the 1x4, then it's easy to fit and saves time, you can plumb the end of the 1x4 to your inside block work once all installed, if that makes sense 👍
Hi, great work! Is there a name for this type of truss without a bottom chord or joist? Also is there a maximum width from wallplate to wallplate for this type? I'm doing a very similar project with a width of 4.6m over wallplates and ideally would like to not have to use a ridge beam or purlins. Cheers Pete
Hi guys. That was nice job you made of that roof Tony. Always amazes me how much you get done in day. Some good tips to with the screw getting the timber to pull flush. Will be using that one. Happy new guys 👍
Hi Logan thanks for your kind words, unfortunately John has left to work with his family he moved out of the construction industry he is such an amazing person and incredibly talented trades person a huge loss to the industry Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
Newbie question. With the bracing installed on the internal side of the trusses, i.e. the ceiling. With this a vaulted ceiling design (I believe that is what Tony mentioned). How is the plasterboard installed with the bracing being in the way? Double boards?
Great vid as always - just had first delivery from Nuneaton after finding them from your tour video. Thanks. Do you recall how much each of the trusses in the video weighs? About to do some a bit larger (~75kg, 5.5m span) but still need birdsmouths cutting so wondering how different the process will be.
Hi Badger much appreciated 55kg ares were The process is straight forward, height is a factor if two storey definitely you more hands plus decking inside or tressells Happy new Year give us a shout if you need a hand and to to far away all the best Tony 👍
Hi Stevie hope you are well, absolutely love the square very clever man are Dan is, I hear he has other things in the pipe line they will be cool hope you and all the family are well Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
Hi Neil it’s is one of those game changing tools that make a huge change to are industry , he’s a clever chap are Dan is all the best Tony and Happy New Year 👍
Being a bricklayer I concede the fact that most Chippys are more precise with their work rather than the slap dash attitude . there is no reason to put wall ties in under the wall plate either 👍 .
Brilliant video. I'm just about to roof my own house with trusses. Is that a special nailer you have for the truss clips? Do the clips always go on the inside of the wall plate?
Hi wood man much appreciated it’s a Paslode Positive nailer awesome bit of kit you save so much time with them game changer for this industry Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
Hi bric much appreciated it is a 20oz Vaughan absolutely love it well balanced going to change it soon because the handles nearly worn out so going for a wooden handle version Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
Hi James I absolutely love it, not really a big Makita fan but I have to say give credit when credit is due and they have smashed it, I was after the Skillsaw version from American because it’s what I had many many moons ago until some shit robbed it on now you can’t buy them in the U.K. I think they are missing a trick Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
Is the any company that comes out and does the measurements or does your builder need to give them? And is truss roof cheaper than getting a roofer to do the full roof
Hi SKS yes you can from Dan online store just follow the link www.essential-carpenter-tools.co.uk/store/p/ultimate-roofing-square-6975m Happy shopping Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
@@davedavids2231 it’s an old stone house the stone finish’s underneath the slate with a vent detail I would think if you Google the image you can see that detail also with the bricked in gutter brackets all the best Tony 👍
The tails will be straight if one uses a dry line or chalk line. What one has to watch out for is that the fascia cuts are parallel with the wall. Otherwise one will have a tapered soffit.
Hi Justin thanks for your kind words, G decking has made are life so much easier have a awesome week Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍 love to all the family

Hi Logan thanks for your kind words, unfortunately John has left to work with his family he moved out of the construction industry he is such an amazing person and incredibly talented trades person a huge loss to the industry Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
is that bracing at the end all that's going to hold this roof together ? no noggins or any sort of reinforcement ? 😱
Newbie question. With the bracing installed on the internal side of the trusses, i.e. the ceiling. With this a vaulted ceiling design (I believe that is what Tony mentioned). How is the plasterboard installed with the bracing being in the way? Double boards?
Hi G You would use lath to make the difference up down the rafter length underneath then plasterboard all the best Tony 👍
You could probably get away with putting diagonals just in the top section with 3 straight bracings
Great work as always everyone great vid to start the year 👍

Hi Bob much appreciated Happy New Year all the best Tony 👍
When measuring the truss for 2450, i dont get where 2450 has come from? From dans calculation book? Thanks

How would you get a flush finish if you wanted to line it afterwards with plasterboard?

If th wallplate is not exactly straight then all the tail ends will not be straight. Thus facia board won't be straight if fitted
Hi Steven no fascia mate, wall plate nothing to worry about pretty much parallel all the best Tony 👍
