Although we see an impoverished Korea post occupation and war, it may be worth mentioning as a prologue to this video that Korea was a prosperous society. Men, women, and children were very well dressed with plenty to eat. So the reconstruction period literally is that... a reconstruction of a society to it's former stable glory.

Hello! I am currently writing an essay about the connection between the education in S Korea and its rapid economic growth.
Hence I would be very thankful if you could tell me what sources did you rely on for this video, especially for the part about the education?? Thanks:)

Unfortunately, one thing they forgot to do while they were focusing all of their time and effort on building that stuff was have babies. Hopefully they somehow get the birthrate back to 2.1-2.2 before they end up in a death spiral like that of Russia or Japan. Russia has entered an economic death spiral to the point that nobody can find the money and time to bring the birthrate back up, even though they know as well as anyone how necessary it is, while Japan literally doesn't have a large enough working age population to sustain itself anymore. Korea, however, still has hope to replenish its workforce, for now: it's got plenty of young people, modest economic growth, and rural and suburban areas that still have both reasonable costs of living and decent jobs. If nothing changes in another decade or two, though, that window will close and Korea will begin heading toward an inevitable end. The next chapter in Korea's economic story should be interesting indeed.

They don't have the time or energy for dating, marrying, having sex, let alone have babies. They study too many hours, they work too many hours, in very stressful circumstances, so no wonder they are exhausted. And they have some unreasonable habits too, for instance on a date the guy has to pay everything, starting from snacks, cinema, dinner etc, so many young people cannot afford it. As for marriage, the woman is expected to work full time inside and outside the house, be a servant to her inlaws and do most of the child-rearing, while leaving their hard-earned career: no wonder some of they are saying "no thanks". If they change that mindset, then maybe things could start rolling again.

It doesn't matter what you think. It's the end results that matters! And the end result is that it inspires the people of Korea. Others can cry about it.
