    A nice thorough oob review!, most of the FB & youtube sites are salivating over the the fact that TAMIYA are releasing a version soon!,personally I don't have a very high opinion of TAMIYA kits they tend to be somewhat basic and inaccurate - witness their recent release of the 1:48 AUSTIN K2 ambulance,looks like something from the 80's!.

      I would agree with you. I know Tamiya spent a lot of time looking at the real tank so they had perfect information. There kits generally go together good but I would disagree on the 80's style. I always says 70's... the molds lake the crisp sharpness most companies have these days. Then there's the price.

    Hi Rick I have just recieved this kit along with the up dated resin and etch parts great kit so far goes well together without glue, parts fit very well no issues apart from very greasy with release mould agent and a lot of flash! but none of a problem after a wash and remove flash but I would like to ask is it worth me getting the recent Tankograd book on Leopard 2A7V # 5092 for further reference. And this is a great review you have done here of this kit from Rye Field Models the main reason why I bought the kit. And finaly why do you build modern German AFV's...

      The RFM kits are very nice. I noticed they need to be washed to get the release agents off. Not a big deal. I find the Tankograd books in general to be very helpful but I like to research my builds and I look for added details I can do. I have a large selection of them. Why Modern German. Thst goes back to early 70's. My dad does modern American and I wanted to do another NATO country. We did war gaming with the models. I did a detailed video on it a while back sence I get this question a lot. Thank you for your kind words.

      @@Ricks135scalemodels Hi Rick Thank you for replying so quickly. I also do a lot of added detailing on my models and agree with you on RFM Models I purchased the Panther F but regretably with out the added etch and resin parts but have them on back order but just wished I had added them at the time of purchase. hence why this time I got a good deal in buying both the only comment I could say was do you paint the road wheels seperately or just glue them together and then paint. I have subscribed to your channel and so far enjoy your builds and tips.. thanks again Rick. Paul

      sorry the comment should have been regarding the road wheels on the Leopard not the Panther!.

      @paulhumphriesz4557 I like the added detail kits rfm is doing but it does make the model kinda expensive. Very nice results though. I do paint the tracks and road wheels then install. Thank you for the subscription

      I understood.. 😁 I usually have multiple parts that I paint then attach. It just makes the final result better. I am always amazed with people who can assemble it all then paint.

    Great review! IMO a better kit than the Border one and even cheaper (at least in Germany). I noticed, that the kit has another error besides that RFM wants you to install the snow grousers on the turret´side armour panels: The three stengthening ribs on the underside of the hull rear below the engine do not exist on the A7V. The A7V has new built hulls, which do not require them any more. But it´s always easier to leave something off or remove something, than adding something which is missing.

      Thank you!!. I did not even notice the 3 supports. I missed that!! The Border didn't have them and I can not believe I missed that also. I know they are building a new lower hull but that's something I forgot. I just went and read what you said. Good info my friend!!

    Hey Rick, i have a question. I can see in the background already made leopard tank, with net ane leaves camouflage, can you tell me what do you used to gain that effect?

      I use ak netting type 1 that I paint olive drab on one side and russian green on the other. The use HO trains scale bushes for the foliage. I really don't like most live foliage products and I prefer just using thine strips of paper painted and crumpled up to look like the steps of canvas they hange.

    which kit will you likely favor more, The Border Models version that you just finished, or the RFM that you just reviewed here?

    • @Ricks135scalemodels
      @Ricks135scalemodels  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Honest answer. The RFM has a lot more details. It is amazing, but, thd Border is fun to build. The RFM I'm assuming is like there 2a6 so it goes together great. The price is very close.hard to answer as I love both. If you like PE detail parts. RFM. If you want a relaxing fun build. BORDER.

    hi. I know you know a lot about leopards. tell me, please, is it possible to convert 2a6 RFM (RM5066) into 2a5 KFOR, except for the cannon? Can I contact you for further advice?

    • @Ricks135scalemodels
      @Ricks135scalemodels  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you can convert it. It has the l44 not l55. The smoke launchers were changed during that time but you can. Other then that, it looks the same. Yes always here for help.

      I think it would be a valuable resource considering how many Leo 2 kits there are on the market these days. I really like the Ryefield kit, especially since you can get a very decent Leo 2a6M CAN right out of the box. I found the Border models 2a6 to be pretty good but perhaps a bit over engineered. We've got a completely new tool Tamiya 2a7V coming down the pipe shortly. I am sure it will build like a dream and be a very good kit but it is always interesting to see what tradeoffs Tamiya makes in terms of accuracy or completeness if that is your interest.
      Anyways, I really enjoy checking in on your channel every time a new Leo 2 hits the market. Keep up the great content!
