I have seizures and my son kept wanting to see me for a while and I didn't know how to use this system and after I saw your video about 2 times on my phone I learned how to attach a card and phone and buy the stamps for me and him.. They will of course say everything is fine. I had my issues with that and it’s never been on my end. Are you from US? I ask because I am originally from Canada and often anyone outside of US had problems. Another thing might be trying some ideas. I have a friend who has T-Mobile and turned out they marked that number as fraud/spam because she was getting many calls from it obviously. She had to get the company to manually remove the spam blocker. Make sure that you save the number into your contacts, which helps avoid that spam issue. Maybe try forwarding your number to another device just to double check it’s not your phone. Just a thought?
Hi, got a question for you. Have you ever not been able to sign in? I try to sign in it says I entered a invalid password and username which is not true. Then I put forgot password. I enter my email then it says it's not found. I don't know what's going on.
I have had that many many times, usually through the app (on my phone). However, when I used my laptop, it was fine. It was only once in a rare while but recently, more often. I have heard others say the same thing, Securus having issues. Try this - make sure you have the latest version of Jpay and/or Securus in case you missed an update. So go into your apps and download the latest version. You don't need to do this all the time, but every few months would help. If you have the issue of invalid password, try re-starting your phone. Or if using computer/laptop, clear all cookies then restart. Another thing is if you restarted and it still says invalid password, check if others are having issue. There is a facebook group "Jpay and Securus Users Forum" where everyone is extremely nice and will mention if a page is down. Or if your Loved One is in a certain state/facility, join a group for that facility and you can see or ask if others are having issues. Then you know, and you might just wait until it's back up. Do you have those issues on the app only? Or app and desktop? I usually check and it seems the app has issues but my desktop version is fine. If its both, you can contact them, though I have not found anyone helpful to date. But you might be lucky. Personally, they know people will pay for the service because there is no other choice so they don't care about issues and money lost. I think that is so wrong but many things in prisons are :( It is what makes me passionate about prison reform. Those are top few things I can think of. I troubleshoot by seeing where the issues are. Often it is just them.
I haven’t found a way to delete anything from my sent folder on the mobile app. I believe the messages automatically get deleted in time. But you can only delete them on a desktop (website) not the mobile app right now
You go to Advance Connect (where you manage your prepaid account). In that area, you will see “Authorized Phone Numbers”. You can delete your current number. Or add another number and make it a primary one.

The system was down yesterday. If it says “Technical difficulties” then they are just down. I was online sending a msg and lost all of it. Normally wait an hour and try again.
Have you watched the entire video? I go through messaging in details. You can let me know where you get stuck and I can help you from there. Basically, you open the app, put in your email and password. Then you will see the “e-messaging” - click on that. It will open to the screen where you type out your emails. I hope that helps. Do you know how to buy stamps if your outside US once your linked? I got my account linked by asking for help but now I cannot buy stamps because my billing address is not the same as my credit card which is in the UK and securus is US only? It wants to know what state I am in and obviously am not in any. This is on securus by the way. You can only select us, mexico and canada as your countries.
What you can do is, when buying stamps, put whatever state in. I was told this by a Securus agent. Put your card info then add a state of your choice. I use California for example or a zip code 90210. It often works for me. The other thing you can do is get a Revolute card. It’s a reloadable credit card. (Www.revolute.com). I have a friend in UK that loves it. She says the blue one is the best one. I’ve never used them but I heard many people do.

Yes, I am in Canada. I did originally have a Kinvict card - that’s the same idea as Revolute. They went out of business during Covid though. I was going to get Revolute but it’s a 3 year wait for a Canadian person to get that card. I actually have a US address on my Securus however I use my Canadian Costco Mastercard. I enter a US zip code and it works so far.

Hi. There are many reasons. From what I noticed, it is definitely slower on the weekends. I was told there are less staff working, so it takes longer to process all the messages. I think that's probably one of the main reasons during the week too. The guards processing - it depends if they have enough staff, if they are reading the message or quickly skim through it, if the facility is busy...that would be my opinion for how fast or slow things happen. Of course, their Wi Fi (internet) has so many problems. It is often days, weeks, months before they fix them. I have that too, sometimes a friend gets my message in 2 hours, sometimes 2 weeks.

Personally, I've never gotten a message late at night. I think the latest I had one was 9 pm. It totally depends on the facility, how late they have someone processing. If there is a guard doing it, then yes. If they stopped by 6 pm, 8 pm, 10 pm...then it will be next day. If there is anything in your message, you would get notified by an email (it would say your message was rejected due to ....) So if you did not get the rejection email, then it's nothing wrong with your message. I would take a guess that it's them, either yours didn't get processed or hers - or both. Actually, I got a message yesterday from a penpal, he wrote it on March 2. Never know, there is a lot of corruption and issues with prison communication systems - I have that with Jpay, Securus, Corrlinks...all have issues, either the system or the facility. My guy writes day and time on messages, and so do I, just because we got into that habit. So when they come, it's helpful to put them together like a puzzle - otherwise the conversation seems to be "strange" , like something is missing. So then he can ask me - did you get my 10 am message? Just in case, so if I am missing, he can tell me again or re-send it if its important. Ask her next time, she will be able to tell you when she got your message, if/when she wrote hers. But personally, I have had too many messages, photos, videos delayed or missing. You don't think as a prisoner they'd ever intentionally not respond right? I mean I'd imagine that they're looking forward to your message. Probably just delays again
That's not an easy question to answer. It depends how well you know the person. What type of a relationship you have, how much trust is established... Most of the time, yes, those in prison love that connection and they are always hoping for communication. I know some that go into severe depression when there is a lockdown and they have no tablet or phone use. However, what does your gut feeling tell you? If this is platonic, she may be writing to several people. If this is romantic, and you are not ok with that, be honest about it. I find that anyone in my life (prison or not), #1 thing is honesty and communication. Trust your intuition. Talk to her. Just honestly tell her you are wondering whether it is an internet issue, or perhaps her expectations and different from yours and you just want to be on the same level. It is not a confrontational thing at all. Just telling someone where you stand, what you want out of a friendship (or more) and see if they are in the same place. Personally, I would respect if someone was upfront. And if she is interested in you as much as you are in her, she would appreciate that you communicate rather than wonder.
Its tough to give advice since I am not sure where it is not working for you. If you are using your phone, try the computer. Sometimes there may be a glitch with the app. Re-starting may help too. Or give it a bit and try again in case they are having issues on their end. If that doesn’t work, let me know and maybe I can help further. Is this first time you are using it? Is your person able to receive mail? Is there something in the subject line? If you can give a bit more info, that may be easier to know what’s going on
That happens a lot to me too. Their system goes down too often. It is frustrating. Try doing it from a computer. I find sometimes it does not work on my phone but the desktop/computer is fine. Once in a while, I had to uninstall and reinstall my app on my phone. So try it on desktop/computer. If it still does not work, wait a few hours and try again. There is a Facebook group called "Jpay and Securus Support". I love that everyone is super helpful, we share tips and ideas what to do.
To attach something, open your email and you should see a paper clip. On my phone, it is on the top of the screen. On my laptop, it's middle of the page. Click Compose a message, Select contact and then click on the paper clip to attach. Let me know if you see it.
Thank you for mentioning your experience. That's how we learn - by sharing ours. I personally find my phone just does not hold the connection, but thats internet issues in my house so I have to use a laptop

Are you adding that person on the phone? Maybe try using a desktop/laptop computer. Also do you add them on Securus? If they had Jpay before, try to add them on Jpay first then Securus. I would also try adding another inmate (and deleting them). Just to see if maybe your Securus app is the issue. If you can’t add people, you can try to reinstall the app. (Make sure you clear your browser and all cookies). If you can add others but not this person, ask if someone else has added them. Maybe they had problems too, maybe they entered it under different institution…as an example. If nobody can add this person, they may need to talk to someone in their jail/prison facility (such as a counsellor) to see if there is something from that end.

I'm curious how does the e messaging actually work. I see how to buy and send stamps but where do they receive the messages? How fast do they receive them?
Once you send the message, it is then processed by the facility. If there is anything against rules, it will be blocked and you will get a notification email. Otherwise he/she will receive it after they process it. How long it takes depends on that facility - how busy staff are, how many messages are coming in, and so forth. On average, it can be anywhere between 2 hours to a couple of days. Shorter messages go through faster, longer messages take more time to approve. Any photos/attachments will take about 2 days. Videograms usually take 3-4 days. That's from my experience.

Can you clarify please? Your boy is in Lewis Morey Mash Unit and your cousin is in Stinner Unit (Arizona), correct? Are you saying one is blocked from using Securus? If that's the case, it could be either facility does not have the communication set up or specific person.
I am outside of US also. Try different cards. I find that my Costco Mastercard works and my Visa does not. I don't know why, just some cards do and some do not. There is a reloadable card you can get called Revolut. Go online and have it sent to you. It is a credit card that you put money on, and it has a US address. If you have someone in US that can get you a reloadable card, that would work too. They can get it from 7-11 type of store and ship it to you. Or check the banks in your country. My guy has a bank account in US and there is a branch from same bank here in Canada. So I just opened an account here for him. Some banks have a US account (or US branch). I was able to get a card that way. Another thing is, if you have someone in US that you trust? Just be very careful as I got scammed that way. A woman I knew ended up taking $800 from me by Paypal and blocking me. That is a story I might do sometime :) Just be careful with that. You can have money taken or women will start writing your person. Pick someone you fully trust. I hope that gives you some options.

On snap and send, you have options on the bottom to block or unblock a number. There is no blocking an inmate there. Perhaps it was done somewhere else? Check that he is in your contacts and messages are enabled.
No, it can't. I did play my video to my guy during a video visit as he is in it and he was curious how it looked - they turned off the visit right away. So be careful, it is easy to get in trouble as they are not supposed to have access to social media. You can maybe play it while on the phone. Is there anything specific you want him to see? If so, there might be ways, depending on what it is

And the only way I know to send anyone in the free world a music video is via TH-cam. He said recently one fellow there had gotten a tic toc video sent from home. I get it. I think it depends what type of tablets and services are available in that specific facility. My guy does not have any kind of video sharing at all. So I had a video visit, he was on my computer and I played the video from my phone. Sometimes it was fine, sometimes they shut off the visit - it depends who is monitoring. So I would just say be careful, there is always a risk of getting your visits banned. Some states have a library of music where he can download certain songs. That would be just songs, not videos. If he has that, he can buy a song (or album) right onto his tablet. Other than that, you could try sending it through Videogram. It may be 30 seconds but still something. Sometimes they don't allow it unless you are in the camera view, and sometimes it goes through. That's the only ways I can think of. Its a good question, I would love to send the TH-cam videos to mine but haven't found a way yet. If you hear of ideas, please share :)

I just really dread having to do that because I don't like calls that have anything to do with the prison system. After years and years of dealing with anything connected to that system one can become burned out. Also my inmate seems to think just because I'm here in the free world that I can accomplish anything.
I agree with you. Mine no longer uses Securus but I feel that way about the system as well. I actually want to do a video about the titles we carry - prison wife, Mrs google, and so on. I just haven't figured out how to make it humorous yet to the point. I know, they think we are available 24/7 and can do magic. What I found over years is things I can do, things I will do - and also how to say Nope, don't care about doing that or don't feel like doing that. Mine is really great at it. He will only ask me to look things up that are crucial to his case but it took time to teach myself not to volunteer.

No, the inmate will only see your name. I have recently updated to a new number and my friend had no idea. I forgot to tell him and he was calling the old number. Your number, address, and all personal info other than your name is not seen by prisoners
Are you using the app or desktop? I usually have no problems using my phone and going through "Snap and Send". Also you can attach photos with your email, just that will take longer for the email to get through since they have to check the photos.

I am sorry but you are incorrect. Most states offer visits in-person as well as video visits. There is a cost to using programs for the video visits, the prices are set by companies whose services you are using. In fact, everything in prison is 3 times the price - from food to clothing to phone calls to visits...which is quite hard on families. But as to your comment, google whichever company (Jpay, Securus, ICSolutions, GTL, etc) and each have prices. I don't know who gave you incorrect information - there is pretty much nothing free in prison and you do pay for video visits.

I have personally not done a video visit through Securus yet, however as soon as I do, I will film those steps. You should have a "Securus Video Connect" on there (this is where you schedule and attend video sessions). It is available on PC as well as the phone app.

I am originally from Canada and my husband is in US. Once you download Securus on your phone or computer, yes you can send him emails. Each email is 1 stamp so you have to buy stamps. It is not free. There is no free communication in US jails or prisons sadly.
@baxxbrice8297 every state is different. It depends also which jail he is in. When you download Securus, go to Buy Stamps. It will show you prices. Usually it costs more if you only buy a small amount. You save when you buy a large amount (if you can afford that). It will give you a list of prices for different choices for his specific jail. (Usually, you can’t buy 1 stamp. There is typically a minimum of 3 or 5)

@@svetlanascorner147 So just a follow-up. She did respond. But yeah there's still delays. Sometimes I'd get a message that's like 2 days old or even a day old. Sometimes fast Sometimes slow. Today is very strange. I got a message at 6am that was a day old. Then one from her at 830 that was from today. I responded around 10am but all day I haven't heard from her. You don't think as a prisoner they'd ever intentionally not respond right? I mean I'd imagine that they're looking forward to your message. Probably just delays again
That's not an easy question to answer. It depends how well you know the person. What type of a relationship you have, how much trust is established...
Most of the time, yes, those in prison love that connection and they are always hoping for communication. I know some that go into severe depression when there is a lockdown and they have no tablet or phone use.
However, what does your gut feeling tell you? If this is platonic, she may be writing to several people. If this is romantic, and you are not ok with that, be honest about it. I find that anyone in my life (prison or not), #1 thing is honesty and communication. Trust your intuition. Talk to her. Just honestly tell her you are wondering whether it is an internet issue, or perhaps her expectations and different from yours and you just want to be on the same level. It is not a confrontational thing at all. Just telling someone where you stand, what you want out of a friendship (or more) and see if they are in the same place. Personally, I would respect if someone was upfront. And if she is interested in you as much as you are in her, she would appreciate that you communicate rather than wonder.

Its tough to give advice since I am not sure where it is not working for you. If you are using your phone, try the computer. Sometimes there may be a glitch with the app. Re-starting may help too. Or give it a bit and try again in case they are having issues on their end. If that doesn’t work, let me know and maybe I can help further. Is this first time you are using it? Is your person able to receive mail? Is there something in the subject line? If you can give a bit more info, that may be easier to know what’s going on

That happens a lot to me too. Their system goes down too often. It is frustrating.
Try doing it from a computer. I find sometimes it does not work on my phone but the desktop/computer is fine. Once in a while, I had to uninstall and reinstall my app on my phone.
So try it on desktop/computer. If it still does not work, wait a few hours and try again.
There is a Facebook group called "Jpay and Securus Support". I love that everyone is super helpful, we share tips and ideas what to do.

Yes. Just like if you were to mail a regular letter, you would put a stamp on one.

To attach something, open your email and you should see a paper clip. On my phone, it is on the top of the screen. On my laptop, it's middle of the page.
Click Compose a message, Select contact and then click on the paper clip to attach. Let me know if you see it.
I have a question when you do the visitation on the phone does the phone have to be sideways all the time or it could be standing up
I have mainly done visits on my laptop. I have used the phone once and I had it up/down.

I personally find my phone just does not hold the connection, but thats internet issues in my house so I have to use a laptop

Are you adding that person on the phone? Maybe try using a desktop/laptop computer.
Also do you add them on Securus? If they had Jpay before, try to add them on Jpay first then Securus.
I would also try adding another inmate (and deleting them). Just to see if maybe your Securus app is the issue. If you can’t add people, you can try to reinstall the app. (Make sure you clear your browser and all cookies).
If you can add others but not this person, ask if someone else has added them. Maybe they had problems too, maybe they entered it under different institution…as an example.
If nobody can add this person, they may need to talk to someone in their jail/prison facility (such as a counsellor) to see if there is something from that end.

I'm curious how does the e messaging actually work. I see how to buy and send stamps but where do they receive the messages? How fast do they receive them?
Once you send the message, it is then processed by the facility. If there is anything against rules, it will be blocked and you will get a notification email. Otherwise he/she will receive it after they process it.
How long it takes depends on that facility - how busy staff are, how many messages are coming in, and so forth.
On average, it can be anywhere between 2 hours to a couple of days.
Shorter messages go through faster, longer messages take more time to approve. Any photos/attachments will take about 2 days. Videograms usually take 3-4 days. That's from my experience.

Yes, the messages will show up on their tablet. (If they have a tablet). For those who do not have tablets, they will see the message when they get time at the kiosk.

Can you clarify please? Your boy is in Lewis Morey Mash Unit and your cousin is in Stinner Unit (Arizona), correct? Are you saying one is blocked from using Securus?
If that's the case, it could be either facility does not have the communication set up or specific person.
hi how do i purchase stamps if i live outside of usa? i live in new zealand
I am outside of US also. Try different cards. I find that my Costco Mastercard works and my Visa does not. I don't know why, just some cards do and some do not.
There is a reloadable card you can get called Revolut. Go online and have it sent to you. It is a credit card that you put money on, and it has a US address.
If you have someone in US that can get you a reloadable card, that would work too. They can get it from 7-11 type of store and ship it to you.
Or check the banks in your country. My guy has a bank account in US and there is a branch from same bank here in Canada. So I just opened an account here for him. Some banks have a US account (or US branch). I was able to get a card that way.
Another thing is, if you have someone in US that you trust? Just be very careful as I got scammed that way. A woman I knew ended up taking $800 from me by Paypal and blocking me. That is a story I might do sometime :) Just be careful with that. You can have money taken or women will start writing your person. Pick someone you fully trust.

On snap and send, you have options on the bottom to block or unblock a number. There is no blocking an inmate there. Perhaps it was done somewhere else?
Check that he is in your contacts and messages are enabled.
Can a TH-cam video be sent to an inmate?
No, it can't. I did play my video to my guy during a video visit as he is in it and he was curious how it looked - they turned off the visit right away. So be careful, it is easy to get in trouble as they are not supposed to have access to social media.
You can maybe play it while on the phone.
Is there anything specific you want him to see? If so, there might be ways, depending on what it is
@@svetlanascorner147 thank you for your reply. I have a TH-cam channel and I just wanted to share some of my videos plus my inmate wanted me to send him a music video. And the only way I know to send anyone in the free world a music video is via TH-cam. He said recently one fellow there had gotten a tic toc video sent from home. I've never done anything over his tablet and just learned how to put money on it not long ago. Again thank you so much for the info. I really do appreciate it. I need all the help I can get.
I get it. I think it depends what type of tablets and services are available in that specific facility. My guy does not have any kind of video sharing at all. So I had a video visit, he was on my computer and I played the video from my phone. Sometimes it was fine, sometimes they shut off the visit - it depends who is monitoring. So I would just say be careful, there is always a risk of getting your visits banned.
Some states have a library of music where he can download certain songs. That would be just songs, not videos. If he has that, he can buy a song (or album) right onto his tablet.
Other than that, you could try sending it through Videogram. It may be 30 seconds but still something. Sometimes they don't allow it unless you are in the camera view, and sometimes it goes through.
That's the only ways I can think of. Its a good question, I would love to send the TH-cam videos to mine but haven't found a way yet. If you hear of ideas, please share :)
@@svetlanascorner147 I may try to call the company that owns the tablets at my inmate's prison and just see what they can tell me. I just really dread having to do that because I don't like calls that have anything to do with the prison system. After years and years of dealing with anything connected to that system one can become burned out. Also my inmate seems to think just because I'm here in the free world that I can accomplish anything.
I agree with you. Mine no longer uses Securus but I feel that way about the system as well.
I actually want to do a video about the titles we carry - prison wife, Mrs google, and so on. I just haven't figured out how to make it humorous yet to the point. I know, they think we are available 24/7 and can do magic. What I found over years is things I can do, things I will do - and also how to say Nope, don't care about doing that or don't feel like doing that. Mine is really great at it. He will only ask me to look things up that are crucial to his case but it took time to teach myself not to volunteer.

You can. It may or may not work for you. I used one and it did not allow it because my address was not linked to it.

No, the inmate will only see your name. I have recently updated to a new number and my friend had no idea. I forgot to tell him and he was calling the old number. Your number, address, and all personal info other than your name is not seen by prisoners

I usually have no problems using my phone and going through "Snap and Send".
Also you can attach photos with your email, just that will take longer for the email to get through since they have to check the photos.

I am sorry but you are incorrect. Most states offer visits in-person as well as video visits. There is a cost to using programs for the video visits, the prices are set by companies whose services you are using. In fact, everything in prison is 3 times the price - from food to clothing to phone calls to visits...which is quite hard on families. But as to your comment, google whichever company (Jpay, Securus, ICSolutions, GTL, etc) and each have prices. I don't know who gave you incorrect information - there is pretty much nothing free in prison and you do pay for video visits.

I have personally not done a video visit through Securus yet, however as soon as I do, I will film those steps.
You should have a "Securus Video Connect" on there (this is where you schedule and attend video sessions). It is available on PC as well as the phone app.

Once you download Securus on your phone or computer, yes you can send him emails. Each email is 1 stamp so you have to buy stamps. It is not free.
There is no free communication in US jails or prisons sadly.

Usually it costs more if you only buy a small amount. You save when you buy a large amount (if you can afford that).
It will give you a list of prices for different choices for his specific jail.
(Usually, you can’t buy 1 stamp. There is typically a minimum of 3 or 5)
