I used the 5 Ds, last one being dangers both physical and navigational. It helped me to think about physical dangers so I could manage the group be it loose rock, steep ground, cliff edges etc. It’s tempting on assessment to be so focussed on the nav you forget to manage the group. With Navigation dangers it makes me look for things that could trip me up eg contouring where there is a tendency to lose height as you traverse, or in forested areas for example there may be multiple paths that are not all on the map Md by not checking compass it’s easy to follow the wrong path.

Nice video, quite enjoying waking up in the morning's at the moment and watching your videos whilst having breakfast. 😂👍

I have a suggestion for a video. Guidance on finding and following a route when climbing. Sometimes I find it hard to follow the approach description and I have certainly gone off route before.

Hadn't come across the 4 D's before. A great reminder of what to check for when navigating. Thanks for this 😀

DDCRAPS is the acronym the military use to relate map to ground which is similar to what your saying. Good video mate interesting stuff.

Music sounds like it's from a 70's German porn movie 😁

I’ll take your word for it 😉

Absolutely and there's a good reason for it! 😅
Blindboy goes into detail why this is in one of his podcasts. Basically, it starts with the first percussion instruments being of 'cheap taste' and the music therefore was cheap or even free, then for a few interesting and particular reasons the porn industry used the music. You can even get a sense of the jazz infusion that was played alongside the mechanical rhythms of the early percussion drum machines.
If we ever go for a hike I would be happy to elaborate on all of this and many other odd factual things of history and music.

I’m looking at heading out on my QMD for my I’m currently HML Trained and was wondering come training and assessment are you able to use the mountain training card to do the maths or is it all having to be done and memorised

How can you get the mountain training cards? Do you just email them?
