Let me know if this helps you and what you would like to see more of 👍👍👍
I have that low hook as showed in the beginning of the video, and this really opened my eyes up as to why I'm doing it. thanks!
Mark, I have been watching your videos for years and when my swing goes array, I go back to videos that make most sense. Thank you for helping me get my swing back on track and you have the ability to make complicated things easy to understand. Stay well and keep them coming!
Very welcome
Swing the club over your right shoulder on the backswing and swing it over your left shoulder to finish the forward swing. This is the best thought ever for golf instruction. And, it is the very basic "building block" of a golf swing espoused by Manuel de la Torre and other great golf instructors. This "swing thought" has helped me more on the golf course than any other. For too many years, I have been distracted by focusing on golf positions during the swing, such as making sure hip rotation is so much, and so on. My game has always suffered when thinking "body positions" instead of swinging the club over the trail shoulder on the backswing and over the front shoulder during the forward swing.
Great job Mark helping all golfers, especially beginners.
The first 45 seconds of this vid demonstrate why MC is the BEST of his genre on this platform. Love it.
My son has started lessons (he is aged 4) and all he has to do is 1,2 show your shoe to work on balance (shoulder to shoulder swing and show your sole) and then we will work on distance and aim... this is working really well. (thanks Aaron teaching pro)
I've been golfing for longer than you've been alive, but this was so refreshing, and I intend to keep these ideas in my bag. Thanks Mark & lads.
This lesson fits anyone who is struggling with their swing.
I’m heading out to the front yard and putting the stance into proactive.
Thanks again gentlemen for another outstanding video.
Within the first minute this video made me realize what a great teacher you are and how much passion you have for teaching. If I lived closer, I would want you to teach me. Great video. Love this stuff!
Three "Golf Coach Legends" in one Vlog! Thanks for this "Back to Basics" Swing Tips! Thanks!
More of these please. Back to the basics helps everyone.
This is a great reminder, going back to basics must help, I've been playing for 45 years, and faults creep In before you know it. Going to remember this tomorrow in practise, and playing Wednesday.
Although I did win the midweek medal last week and was cut to 11, there was plenty of room for improvement, thanks 👍
Yes! I like it a lot. I’m not a beginner but I like to see you guys to make some of those vids for beginners. Hope many beginners will see that video and have fun playing golf. We need more golfer out there! Have fun guys
love the new direction of your videos.... always a delight !!!!!!
This is sooo helpful and not just for beginners. I’m a 4 handicap and my game imploded a few weeks ago, was struggling just to get round the course and break 100!! Head full of complex tech etc. Then I saw this and the first few mins of this is so simple it totally cleared my head, I just shot a 2 under par. Thanks for this and all the other awesome content you put out (putout?)
I need something I can just take to the course and start enjoying golf again. I just want to share my spare time with my friends again and have fun lol like I used to. I'm going up the range tomorrow and practicing your drills.
I hate notifications from youtube. I'm subscribed to roughly 40 channels and this is the only one that i've ringy dingied that bell.
Love you Taylor
I am a firm believer that all golfers' swings evolve over time. The changes are often so subtle that they are not noticed until they are, mostly in the form of ball dynamics. My grip will "flow" over time until I start noticing a constant fade or draw (usually a fade in my case). I recently struggled with the low point in my higher lofted irons until I noticed that over time my stance had widened. Ever so little that I never knew until it became an issue. When I cannot fix a swing problem with simple changes like my grip or stance, I come to your videos for help and I usually find what I need.
Many many moons ago my uncle came down to Kent on holiday when we lived there and he asked me if I was interested in popping down to a pitch and putt course, yes I would give it a go.
Well I hacked topped and anything else you,ve showed on the vlog until on the 17th when I nailed it landing just right of the green, seeing the ball climb and fly through the air and with that one shot I ( a 13 year old lad) was hooked, I couldn't get enough when I went back home to Scotland on holiday I spent hours in the back garden hitting those plastic balls until uncle came home and we head towards his home course...
Great vlog guys I think you like me most people hit one shot which gets them and they like me come back for more......
Your perspective is very interesting because you have taught so many people - I like the fact you let them develop their natural swing and adjust from there- you get this a lot from ball game players like Hockey players and cricketers and in reality it is a faster way to learn which is what most people want and gives them consistency. I want to make the plug though, that if the pupils show the commitment, that learn to grip the club properly (not necessarily feels comfortable) and have a good posture- then learn to swing from there. It may not be quicker to satisfaction but it will give you a better base to become a better player. I have played with 100s of golfers who are or were great athletes whose golf plateaus because they did not start off optimally- all they are left with as weekend golfers is tweeking - which your videos are a truly amazing help
Not sure why but this popped up on my feed the other day so had a watch as I've been struggling with my swing since lockdown, I have been playing for a year and play off 13 but have got into a really bad habit of over thinking etc. I went out yesterday using the swing thought 'right shoulder, left shoulder' and shot 36 points and probably left a bit out there (Damn 3 putts!). Thanks for keeping things simple, with all the advice and commentary out there a new player could get really lost trying new things all the time.
This was a brilliant vid the simplicity and generalizations of grip ball position swing etc rather than the first coach I had “ you have to grip it exactly like I do and then giving a ten step process of the stance and swing” for the beginner golfer is for the birds. Love the format and info great job muppets.
Nearly into single figures and so much to take away from this cleverly presented video. Can never go wrong by stripping it back to the basics! Thanks
I'm an experienced golfer of 12 years playing off 9 and I really appreciate these simple tips to take to the range and course, particularly the over right shoulder over left shoulder. I think you can get really bogged down with a multitude of detailed swing thoughts and positions that are really not useful at all when trying to play and score on the golf course.
Thanks to this video I now have body rotation. The part about the shoulders helped me a ton!
Thanks Mark! and Dan and Coach!! I'm an experienced golfer and I always think you can take away something but, I am going to start teaching my young daughters and this is great stuff for me to use/steal...
Just watched this and will be forwarding it to my family. My nephew is turning 8 and has shown interest in golf. We have some clubs for him but wasn't sure how to have him start. Your approach of letting them hit and they ask how to correct is genius. Thank you so much for this and all the vids you guys do.
Thanks Mark, Dan and Coach for a very good, down to earth video! Keep 'em coming!!
This so good Mark! Been playing for quite a while now and this just shows you can never stop learning! Keep at it Brah!
Great video guys.Just had first lesson in eight years tonight. Bloody brilliant evening learning new ideas about my game. You talk a lot of sense guys. I have booked up six lessons. My aim is to be able to get my handicap of 14 down to single figures by the summer 2020.Keep up the great work guys
That's the best lesson you've done. I wish someone would have told me this when I started. I found a game by practicing the right things but practiced a lot of the wrong things too.
Good stuff guys, I'm not a beginner but I watched because when you work on a specific part of your swing you have to always check to make sure the swing improvement doesnt offset the other swing pieces.
Best video yet! Where was this when I first picked up a club.
That's a very good looking spanky new range area type thing! 👍👍 Grass roots simplicity I.love.it. 🔔🔔👍👍
Nice video on the basics!! I wanted to posit a theory I've developed based on the issues I've been having with my golf journey, and talking with friends that play. I've been playing for 4.5 years and am now working on altering my swing thoughts to be external (as I've been very analytical and thinking too much about internal movements). The thing I've found that will guarantee I muck up a shot is the fact that I concentrate all on my backswing (meaning I'm so focused on starting it right and getting to the top, that when it gets to the top my brain can not switch over fast enough and organize the body to properly execute the downswing and get a good impact position). So now I've been working on starting my backswing while focusing on how I want my body / hands to feel at impact, and then just feel the tempo of the swing as a timing mechanism. Sure enough, I mostly get excellent results when I do this, and I get poor results because I reverted back to thinking only of the backswing.
I find that many friends that play similar to myself seem to describe the same issue of mostly thinking about the backswing, and then blanking out on the downswing and impact. I'm curious if this is something you've ever asked your students and friends? And I wonder if instead of asking a beginner student to think about club over the shoulders, if you asked them to only think about impact and not think about taking the club back in any way, what would happen?
Great stuff!
Totally agree bruh...nothing screws up my game more than when I start thinking about making a good back swing...
Finally a simple teaching video that’s easy to understand. Love your videos. Keep em coming👍🏻⛳️
Brilliant video.👍 I’ve been playing for 20 years but still still me tips and basics that I can remind myself to do on the range
Practice session cut a little short due to Mother Nature’s incoming light show. Put your stance lesson along with tee’ing my ball just a bit higher (driver and fairway woods, for tee shots). Out of 45 balls I didn’t top a single one and for the most part had square strikes on the club face. I get to put to the course tomorrow.
Between this channel and a couple of others, you have helped put more fun into the game after a 6 year lay off due to fears of re-injuring my surgically repaired shoulder.
Nice one. I'm looking where the clubhead is contacting or brushing the ground in my practice swing. Then the ball goes there in my setup. More times than not it helps me strike the ball well.
The one thing that helps me as a crappyish golfer is a intermediate point a foot or so between the ball and where I want to to go. Massive improvement.
Thanks Mark, lovely simple instruction,a big help!
Cool 👍
Egggggggggggzellent video! Best lesson ever, bell rung, thanks guys.............
Brilliant guys - quick and easy and straight forward. Guys come to Dubai please!
New golfer. Thank you!!
Really liked this video. I’ve played for a few years but still struggle with what I should be thinking of to get a simple swing. Takes me several holes in my round to find it- by accident almost- or starts well then disappears after several holes because I’m just hoping it’ stays good. Hopeless really.
Simple swing thoughts here to try. Cheers Bruh.
This is brilliant Mark, been playing a long time, not sure I would describe myself as accomplished though. Keen trier, but still make mistakes.
Great tips and ideas guys looking forward to putting them into practice at my next range session!
Thank you for making this video...
Me and my mates are off to the belfry this weekend.... And I am the only single hcp golfer.... So I put this on the WhatsApp group....
So when they asked for a tip....
Watch the video, have you watched the video, go watch the video....
Look out bel air the Stella tour is on the way.... 👍
Most golfers should look at this video every 6 months. For most golfers it is all about the basics.
Love it guys good tips and ideas - really good check points - looking forward to putting them into practice at the range!!
Terrific bit basic golf swing instruction there Mark 👌⛳️
Coach and Dan need to step up their wardrobe game Mark is always crushing it.
Gr8 vid guys. Stuff i can work on during the winter. Last competition this weekend
Found your channel recently :) thanks for the awesome work :)
Beautifully done 👍
Hi Mark, great stuff and always a good help when things don‘t work out (sometimes 😂). I started with golf 6 years ago at the age of 38 so learning it was rather hard work (out to in path a horrible companion) and these vids are a superbe support to keep in mind what is essential for this game (not to forget the fun and joy it brings along) Just keep on with your great work and help us out there 😂💪
Great video mark, I’m a newbie to the game, and while I’m turning to make a backswing I try to load my right heel and hip with most of my weight before starting the downswing, it seems to help with my low point,
Top vid, does what it says in the title, and definitely a help for established golfers who over think 😏
Fantastic! Going to save this link to forward to anyone asking me questions
Great fundamental tips!
Lots of things to work on thanks
Lethal video this mate 👍
Useful video - late beginner golfer.
Really liked this video
Lovely outdoor practice area.... yes please.
Great video. Trying to teach someone with little hand eye coordination and I will definitely try this idea
good lesson.. thanks
Have you tried out the Tour Striker Plane Mate or know anything about it? Would be an interesting video I think.
Good stuff, will be helpful for friends just starting out
The best! Quick question about posture, what feels most naturale and comfy for me is a bit hunchbacked, I can do a more straight power posture (been a gymrat, posture from squats etc etc) but I have to make a very conscious effort. Do you think one is better than the other? Thanks.
Found my love for golf again after some miserable years, now going through your back catalogue, great stuff, appreciate the time you spend sharing 👍 just now need to know why my practice swing and real swing different 🤔🤔🤔
I recomend/ Delete practice swing !
Another winner with Team Muppets!!!
Informative video...thanks!
mark I'm really struggling to find any kind of consistency been playing years off and on going back to the basics,
Another good 1 cheers boyyyysssssss
Oh, and a second question, my wife can't do a proper rotational swing due to prior ankle injuries. So she basically has to only swing with the arms, which results a lot in the last problem you showed of a lot of head / posture going up and down, resulting in missing the ball entirely (and not understanding why). I would love to see videos on un-orthodox swing options for people that can't do a proper rotational swing and have to be more armsy :).
Cheers
Great video. 😉
love your vids
Some great ideas [also love that black hat!]
Great stuff.
Good stuff 👍
I watched this in the van just before going on the range. Back to basics works a treat. Now on the course, after 5 holes, the ball is going more than before in the "general direction" of where I want it 😂 much better strikes and no hooks! Why do we overthink and complicate the swing?! Same with the driver and 3 wood please 😁

Mine is the tee box problem. If it is going in the wrong direction to where I want to go I end the slicing the ball. I some times end up pointing the yellow tee markers in the direction I want to aim so it does not mess with my head
Love the video as always mark!
However, how would you approach a beginner who doesn't / cant / doesn't understand the concept of hinging the wrists on the backswing? i.e the player is taking the golf club back whilst keeping their wrists and arms in a straight line...
I would absolutely not be promoting the thought of hinging the wrists on the back swing, this often leads to flicking the club head too far inside and opening the club face, the easiest way i find, is to just let the shoulders initiate the swing, maybe the feeling of the left shoulder moving down and under your chin, your arms will naturally move backwards and upwards and in turn your wrists will hinge all they need to, you'll now be at the top of the backswing and from there just have the feeling of the arms dropping down then rotate the body through , keep it all simple as mark said in this video "club over right shoulder, club over left shoulder" the simpler the better. don't worry about wrist hinge, it'll happen without you trying to force it, in fact its pretty impossible to get the club without some sort of natural wrist hinge just try!! good luck to you!
Good video
Mark, how have you shifted all the weight? What regime you on?
Mark, i have a query and some advise. I have been having lessons with some progress. But Ive really struggled with grip and i just cant find a balance. I used the grip given to me by the coach, but i recently played with a low handicapper who sat there and watched me (in silence) and then said can i make a few suggestions. He changed my grip so my right hand came over more with the v of fore finger and thumb pointing up to my chin. I tried it and seemed to hit the ball well. Next week went back to my coach and he changed it back. Im lost.
How do I know if my local golf instructor is any good?
Great video Mark. Always good for a revisit the basics after playing for 20 years. Don't stand sideways on to the camera bruh -you disappear and we can't see you! #Stickman
So, how would one find the correct golf coach for them...
Hi Dan!!
That titleist hat is awesome 😎 just saying
Agreed. Want a Masters Green one and a shirt. :D
Just what I was thinking! Very snazzy
Winner of a video, I've been looking for "golf swing tip instructions" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Peyyatt Glorious Preference - (do a search on google )?
It is an awesome one of a kind product for discovering how to get an extra 20 to 70 yards of distance out of every golf swing minus the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my brother in law got amazing results with it.
Anyone else hoping Dan would start flossing when he was talking about target lines 😂😂
Mark can I buy the cap you’re wearing in this vlog now that your not allowed to wear it😉
See's a swing video with Tommy Fleetwood in the image ... INSTANT WATCH.
... same for Adam Scott and Louis Oosthuizen.
Will help on those work social days when 'Ted' has no idea. When you think of it, why is golf so hard. Over right shoulder, over left shoulder, lift ya right foot.
You hitting the gym and eating right bruh? Looking fit! Maybe 272 now? Cheers boys!
I mean this in the nicest possible way Mark and I do absolutely love your videos but has anyone ever told you that you look like a real life version of Wallace from Wallace and gromit? Lol
I've had many lessons but nothing as basic and understanderble as this video
💪🏻👍🏻
I’m subscribed, now what?😂
Someone has read some Manuel de la Torre
