Ruby Tetra are a great small fish - once settled, they are little jewels 🙂
Good to know! Thanks!!
Tanichthys micagemmae? All those tanks look awesome! Love the different shrimp strains too.
hey friend- cheers from my fish room in Chicago! I'm a huge fan of your aesthetic and passion for quality it shows. I do have two suggestions. 1) Consider taking the far right rock out of the 60U. this will give you an odd number of stones in keeping with conventions of that style. Stopping the video, I held my thumb over the rock and I thought it looked even better, if that's even possible ;) 2) A great tiny red fish for the tank you asked viewers about: Ruby Tetras.
Interesting idea. That would kill the balance for me personally, but I always appreciate your really thoughtful comments! Thanks for the fish suggestion. Ruby Tetras are beautiful! Hope things are going well in your fish room
@@LoganRandoAquascaping Ruby tetras are inexpensive, too! Not all Iwagumi aquascapes are of the Sanzon Iwagumi type, meaning a ‘three-pillared rock formation’. In fact, any number of rocks can be used, as long as it is an odd number (3, 5, 7 and so on) so as to avoid that sense of symmetry no one is striving for in aquascaping. But I break a million rules in my fish room so there's that!
I just ordered a ton of stuff a couple days ago from Buce plant for my first high tech tank- thanks for the inspiration
Awesome! Happy scaping!
Shout out to the team at Wet Zone off Convoy in San Diego. True aquarists and scapists always willing to give genuine advice🤙
Love the guys at Pet Zone! Lucky to have them as my LFS
Excited for the new project!
Thanks, me too!
Loveee these longer vids 🤙🏼
Glad to hear that! They're fun to make.
Lovely tanks Logan.
I appreciate that.
Love the gallery, please keep on making videos. Very entertaining and inspiring..
Absolutely! I'm glad to hear you enjoy them.
Very informative and professionally shot/edited video!
Much appreciated!
the scape on the 60u is top tier
Thanks, it's probably my favorite scape I've created to date
Can't wait to see your vision for the 90s! I love my 80x20x20 'panorama tank' with a few undulating pieces of wood, riverpebles and cyperus helferi, helanthium tenellum and some small anubias. It was my first river scape :)
For your low tech setup i'd suggest a wild carpet of lilaeopsis brasiliensis, marsilea minuta and maybe some helanthium tenellum... if you would like to change the foreground 😅
Otherwise you could just ad some bucephalandra red mini, some riccardia chamedryfolia and a small creeping fig to accent the wood and embrace a more minimalistic look!
Wow, you're tank sounds awesome. Great proportions. Thanks for the 16s suggestions!
Love the tour what about coral red pencilfish seen these recently on another channel would look amazing
Wow, those are really cool. Thanks for bringing them to my attention!
look good man.. cant help it to feel abit jealousy keep sprouting from my end.. 😂😂
awesome display tanks, thanks for sharing with us. I would suggest if not Ruby Tetra then the Tiger Badass or Scalet...they really pop when playing with each others. I have both of these red small fishes...love the super red!
Really great suggestions!
really nice update. tanks are looking great. the 1st iwagumi and the "all in one" tanks are my favorites. do you run your twinstar S at 100%, usually keep mine between 75-80% or so.
I run them the same as you. About 75-80% when the tank is a few months old. Even lower in the beginning.
Scarlet Badis/Dario Dariom for a small red fish!
Love those!
Hello! I love your channel. I have a question? You don’t have to answer but it would be cool if you did! How do you feel about the 1” of fish per gallon rule or the 1/2” rule for live stock?
I have no judgement on your tanks they’re admirable I’m here for notes!
It's a good primer to help prevent an impulsive beginner from completely overstocking a tank but outside of a vacuum it doesn't have much application. Aquariums are so nuanced. The things I look at are gas exchange, filter volume/capacity, type of fish, behavior of fish, etc. Most things in our beautiful hobby are so nuanced it's hard to apply hard and fast rules like that one.
Thank you for your video. I just had a quick question regarding the Twinstar light on the 60U: what power setting did you use?
Thank you in advance for your response.
About 80% power
Thanks for the video! Love all your tanks. What tank would you recommend for a starting tank into aquascaping and keeping fish? I like the idea of little nano fish and shrimps. Should I start a 5N with a HOB filter or jump to the 35A ? Obviously not the same price, but want some early success before moving up to a 60u Iwagumi or something more ‘advanced’?
I think the 35A would be perfect if you have the budget. All the built in equipment (other than CO2) comes right with it and the extra water volume compared the the 5N is very nice to have
@@LoganRandoAquascaping Thanks so much for the reply! I’ll look into starting with the AIO. I appreciate the advice to help decide. It is a super clean looking set up. Eventually I’d want to go UNS oak stand, 60u, canister with inline CO2, hanging light for the cleanest look, but I better learn a bit more before I’m at that price range.
for red nano fish, you could try Sundadanio axelrodi
I love that species but they're more of a blue and will blend with the background too much
Love the tanks! In your first tank, iwagumi one (and the problem child), what product do you use for the blue background?
It's from FJARDE on Amazon
@@LoganRandoAquascaping Thank you - I’ll see if I can get it here in Cape Town.
ruby tetra's if you can find them, they need soft water to keep their color but they are beautiful. I now have the uns shallow 3.5 gallon like it allot and gonna buy one larger version next i think!
I'm gonna try and get my hands on some!
awesome will be nice to see some good footage of them!
Awesome tanks, i have a question about keeping shrimp in a high tech set up. How do you trim and do water changes without cutting/siphoning shrimp & the babies?
Id love to put some in my tank but fear it will make maintenance difficult
Siphoning, always be careful and use a siphon guard. Trimming, it's impossible to cut a shrimp. They're evolved to dodge something like a scissor at lighting speed. They'll dart away if you get too close
Do a school of pea puffers 😂
haha maybe in a future build
Light setting for UNS 45U
Intensity is maxed for the vid. Twinstar 450S v4
What soil are you using?
UNS Controsoil
Cherry Barbs maybe
They're gorgeous, but a bit too large
Your Chilli rasbora tank, your water level seems quite high to the edge, do you not get jumpers because of how close to the top the water level is?
Thankfully no jumpers as these chilis are quite happy in here.
