Nice hack with the secateurs, I use a Hori knife myself.Your videos are amazing, I learn alot from them. Beautiful gardens and a fantastic plant collection! The geraniums are my favorite. Thanks.
I just done a ton of weeding for such a small garden. I put some mint seedling into the garden when going on holidays 2 years ago and forgot they were there. Dug out the whole bed and removed any trace I could find but I reckon I will be fighting it again
Oh I think dear Teddy is looking a bit "weedy" himself .... I am itching to give him a wash and a bit of a trim up! Yes..... I have a lot of clipped box hedges in my garden and I can't help myself ! :)
What a riot! You have such tiny weeds - mine came with the Romans an the Jacobites with roots that long, deep down and far back.( Naughty, throwing over the fence.) Why don't you grow a woodland? NB Buttercup and Geranium are so similar that I weeded out my favourite plant last year,. Check all the species - I have them all. Just got the bark.
Rather than digging the point of my Felco hand pruners in the soil I use a long handled pointed Sneeboer spade. I use this tool EVERYDAY. You know the saying: "I wouldn't be caught dead w/o it". I wear nitrile disposable gloves and I try to hold the rose with my Felcos and yes, I still get stuck:-(
John , I just discovered bindweed in my garden. We took up an old deck and off it took. It has taken over my life. All I do now is pull it up. Lucky you don't seem to have it there.
Think I have watched all of your videos to keep me going over winter. Really enjoying them. Great Irish channel. Defo planning a visit to rathoath. I’m currently taking root cuttings and lifting seedlings of oriental poppies. Do you have any advice?
And I think it is fine to have Teddy showing the name of the plant under discussion. Usually you catch a glimpse of the plant in the video but also you can write the name down and look it up later. If it goes too fast then pause the video and take your time writing. I just wish the plants you highlight were available in the USA. Drives me nuts!
It can be hard to source plants at times but many great plants come from the USA. Where would we be without the small leaved sages and Hydrangea Annabelle, to name just two.
True but since the USA gardening videos are not very good, sorry to say, I am enjoying yours and am in a pretty constant state of plant envy. Ah there are worse things, right?
I have a good idea for the editor, when showing the plant or weed name next to the highlighted text place a picture of the accompanying plant instead of Teddy. Teddy's picture should only come up when his name comes up. Otherwise, I don't know what the plant or weed looks like. Teddy is not a weed lol
It’s quite fascinating how ‘weeds’ have evolved to look like other plants. Even more amazing is how they tend to seed themselves in the vicinity of their lookalike. This phenomenon is not at all helpful to the fastidious gardener.
Thank you for all the videos (and the chuckles).
what a sweet looking dog
Ok, I read WEDDING advice from John, I can’t be the only one…😂
Anyway, thanks for the weeding advice!😉
Teddy made this segment much more special. Thank you for tagging Teddy along
He's a cutie pie. I was wondering what he was called.
I learn so much from every video, and they are just so enjoyable. Love the dog!
Mr. Lord is my gardening 👨🌾 guru!
John, you make weeding attractive LOL. I need to adjust my attitude towards it, so I will enjoy doing it :)
Teddy needs his own show
John you are fantastic gardener and human!
I love the little clips of Teddy! :) Would be great to see him in all your videos.

Adorable dog, I do my gardening with my cat! Love it
I hope "Over the fence" is not your neighbours garden, I laugh at the thought, I have been tempted to do that a few times LOL
Amen to that, John!
Yay, Teddy makes an appearance!

I always feel like I’m mistreating my secateurs when I use them to weed. Now I see you do it so it must be okay 😀
Haha me too on both counts. : )
My ash trees all died. Sad. Creeping buttercup is one of my worst weeds way over here in central PA! Small world. Thank you John and Teddy.

Pulling weeds is just as satisfying than popping pimples.

Aww, we can sleep 8 hours a day? Thank you for that! :p But gardening the rest of the day. On it.
Did anyone else misread the title of this as "Wedding advice from John Lord"? Sounded a bit off the wall, but was willing to give it a watch!
Same 🤘😎🤘

Eat the bittercress, John; it tastes good. 😅
Who is the lucky recipient of the "over the hedge" weed missile? LOL!
Fab video as usual, thanks John / Teddy.
John, any chance on getting your advice on dealing with crabgrass? In Canada we have quite a bit and they are very tough.
