    I remember back in the days watching a programme on the discovery channel engineering the impossible I learnt that most of this constructions will cause a lot of global shortage of the materials needed especially steel and other concrete materials, so how are the engineers to over come these problems

    • @robertbobbypelletreaujr2173
      @robertbobbypelletreaujr2173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is said that China has constructed so many buildings so fast, that the amount of concrete used had caused the planet to have a slight wobble or something. Also, it is said that India has removed so much water from an aquifer that the huge cavern left behind has made some other thing happen. I need to refresh my memory..

    The Egypt Tower with the silly and stupid vertical moving louvers is a bust. No one buys high rise space to have that much view blocked. No One. Ok? Also the cost to build these things is severely underestimated. $3 Billion should be $30 Billion. Space elevator would not cost $10 Billion, try $10 Trillion or even $100 Trillion.

    Space elevator of some sort is the ticket. A 5 day trip is nothing. We would still launch ships, but imagine how quickly and cheaply we could move supplies and building materials off planet. That would also free up space in ships for more people! Fingers are crossed to see this in my lifetime...2080ish

    • @brettcrawford511
      @brettcrawford511 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If a space elevator is built. It would mean having the likely ability to be able to build much much larger spacecraft. Assuming such space craft went to mars orbit or elsewhere hopefully they could come back to the top of the space elevator to be refueled and restocked with supplies for further trips to wherever. One big potential problem is that when spacecraft came back it might bring down the whole thing. Ideally on coming back the spacecraft could go into orbit below the top of elevator and fuel and supplies could just be pushed or launched from elevator to holding bay of spacecraft.

    That Loop in NYC makes for good click-bait, but that's already been dropped as being obviously too ambitious and costly, and it couldn't possibly make enough money back as there just wouldn't be enough rentable space in it in proportion to its insanely high cost. So.. it shouldn't be on this list. It will never see the light of day. Of course, most building mentioned on this list will never see the light of day.
    E.G.... The Jeddah Tower has been abandoned like mentioned here, but.. not many firms will be fighting to take it over since it's just not a wise investment. Jeddah isn't Dubai. It's far less populated, has far stricter regulations and rules for businesses, is just in a more conservative country than UAE, so... less businesses would want to deal with Saudi Arabia's rules, and far less people would vacation there, or work there, et cetera, and in short, there's just far less wealth in Jeddah than Dubai. And for a 3,200-foot-tall building to thrive, it must be in a world-class city with plenty of national and international millionaires and billionaires to support it. Dubai has this. Jeddah doesn't. And Jeddah isn't even close, either.

    The SpaceX starship will deliver at least 150 ton payloaads to earth orbit at a cost of 2 million dollars for the flight which means that the cost per pound of payload will only be about 7 dollars a pound which not only is the reason why it will revolutionize space travel but also be much cheaper to put payloads into orbit than any space elevator

      Yeah, only $10 billion? That's a rounding error on only the INTEREST the US will pay for their recent stimulus proposals.
