About two minutes into the last video I saw that you had a gps system of some sort that was showing a depth chart. Was wondering if the rock you got stuck on was showing on the chart?
Was this west twin bay of Perry Island? We spend quite a bit of time out there would live to know where this hidden rock is so we don't run into the same fate.
No, these boats don't have any flotation. I view flotation as a double edge sword, it is great when the boat is new, but foam tends to get waterlogged over the years and make things worse (I had one boat where I had to remove all the foam), and watertight compartments sometimes leak slowly, and then fill with water. So pick your poison, I guess.
I learned a valuable lesson on keep track of insurance coverages, it was only insured for about 75% of the value. Special thanks to Mike Barth in Homer for his help.
Glad to see her refloated and seaworthy again. Well done sir.
I am way impressed. You guys turned that bad trip into a winner.
Lots of hard work to 0:15 get her back afloat. Way to go👍😅
Thanks 👍
I did not realize you sunk it! I’m sorry to hear that. Glad you got it all back and looking better than ever.
Yeah it was one of the last days of 2021, out in Prince William Sound, that we had the incident.
That looks amazing! That sandblasting is something I'll never forget! 😂
Yeah, you were the one on the creeper under the hull!!
Wow! That looks fantastic! Nice work
Thanks! I couldn't have done it without the help of the people mentioned in the video, plus some others!

No, the rock was not on the chart. However, on my new boat (with a new GPS) it is

The rock does show up on my new GPS. It was at the back of West Twin Bay, on the west side.
Looks good!
Thanks!
Is there no flotation built into these boats to prevent them from sinking?

At some point we all have to learn the hard way.
Yup
Hope you had insurance. That's a huge undertaking. Looks great.
