My wife and I have watched this every Saturday night since we were first together. No matter what we make sure to watch every episode in order and just keep restarting at the beginning. We love the show.

This show, the premise of missed lovers being reunited after so many years is the most loving story told. It always makes me cry.
Oh how I love this series, I looked forward to seeing it and Keeping up Appearances on a Saturday night. I know it's a road for us all but I do not think he knew the smile he brought to my face and maybe countless others. RIP I Consider you a friend even though I didn't know you personally.

Geoffrey Palmer who played Lionel sadly passed away today. R.I.P. (1927-2020).
Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer (incredible actors) appeared as ‘M’ and the ‘Admiral’ in Tomorrow Never Dies (James Bond). Except there was mostly tension between them. When the film was originally released and in cinemas, got a chuckle with British audiences. In this, they played it wonderfully as two re-united former lovers. Good show.

The letter. OMG the letter. Her face as she reads it and his face as he watches her; an entire master class in acting in just a few moments of time.
What a sad ,sad loss ,Geoffrey was one of the types on TV that made every roll he played ,so real ,as time goes by always be my top fav show to watch over and over ,his relationship with Dane Judie was so very special and the pair never failed to win the roll . Rip great man ,may be gone but never be forgotten 💔😔

I've watched this series so many times. I know much many of the lines. It is my favorite show. Judi & Geoffrey were perfect together! He was the lovable curmudgeon! All the characters were wonderful.
All these moments were lovely; but, for my money, Lionel's most romantic moment was when Jean went to spend an evening at a restaurant with her old flame, whom she hadn't seen in years, and who turned out to have become an utterly worthless drunk, who passed out at the table with her. When she returned home, there was Lionel, with a pot of hot tea waiting for her, and his comforting presence. Not a trace of jealousy; just concern for her, and worry for the pain she was in. THAT'S love.
I am so sad to hear of Geoffrey's death. I had watched the series with my older son many times over the years. We were planning to sign up for BritBox and rewatch it all. I loved how he acted with all the characters but their love story was special. It gave hope for older people.
These two worked so well together.
You could almost believe they were a couple in real life.
I have the entire series (including the reunion special), and watch it regularly.

I have to be honest and say, yes I like all the usual popular comedies, only fools, porridge, etc etc, But my three all time favourites are, This one, Dinner Ladies and just good friends,comedy works of genius in my eyes, well i am 63 so I do remember a long way back….LOL.

Their lines ran into each other, got annoying after a couple of episodes. No one comments and the other person comments immediately after. Best romantic moment is the ear wax one, she was so natural.

To posh why we're all sitcoms back then always about upper middle class big house's loads of cash never did a hard day's work in there lives all so upper class and i hated these programs they were so boring and unfunny canned laughter thank God we have a choice of what we can watch today back when we only had 5 channels to watch unless you had cable or sky if you could afford them.
