On September 10 the Russian Armed Forces had launched a counteroffensive in the Kursk region. Servicemen from one of the units in the border region told that airborne and marine units had driven the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of four settlements: Gordeyevka, Byakhovo, Vnezapnoye, and Viktorovka.
“The battles for neighboring villages continue, the enemy is retreating, as soon as we have confident control, we will report on other villages,” said the RTVI source.
The Mash Telegram channel was one of the first to report on the Russian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk region. According to the channel, the Russian military drove the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the village of Gordeyevka in an hour and a half, and also began counterattacks in the areas of Apanasovka and Martynovka.
“In total, 10+ km of territory were liberated in 24 hours,” Mash claims.
Military expert Mikhail Zvinchuk writes that the Russian Armed Forces launched a counterattack on one of the sections of the front, liberating two settlements in less than a day and starting battles in at least two more.
“Some of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the area are under threat of encirclement, while the advanced groups of Russian troops continue their offensive both to the south and to the east,” Mikhail Zvinchuk reports.

What 4 Apache helicopters would have been able to do against the convoy of tanks and armored vehicles, just like how they did in Syria. With F-16's flying high cover over Ukranian Mig-29's, they could do quite a lot of dmg to the invading forces. I would not be surprised if the Russians are entering a trap and reaching territory already targeted by HIMAR's. Once they get in too far, the HIMARS and Ukrainian artillery block off any retreat of the Russian forces encircling them.

wishful thinking. It is just too little force to keep the ground. The main task was to draw attention and forces and to boost morale. Ukraine won't be able to hold this for long and the more Harris is winning, the less they will sacrifice for this useless piece of land. This was a failsafe in case Trump wins and forces a deal. UA is in bad shape, looses in the east and urgently needs more of everything. They can't defend Kursk.

Most likely these Ukranian forces were simply LP/OPs or light cav set up in forward villages as picket forces. We knew they were not holding the forward areas in force, that was well established.
