Life with HIV - different from what you think. A project of the AIDS-Hilfe Krefeld e.V.
This is Alex. He has been infected with HIV. He cannot infect another person with the virus because he takes medication.
Whether at work, in his free time, or in his sexuality, Alex can live a normal life, just like any other person.
Nevertheless, Alex repeatedly experiences discrimination in his everyday life in the form of rejection and exclusion.
Alex knows that some people have prejudices, fears, and insecurities about dealing with HIV.
Many people do not know that life with HIV has changed due to the progress of medicine.
But how exactly is that possible?
The regular intake of medication ensures that HIV can no longer multiply in the body and damage the immune system. This prevents the outbreak of AIDS.
The drugs work so well that viruses are no longer detectable in the blood.
And what exactly does that mean for Alex?
Alex has a medical check-up every three months. The medication allows him to live a good life with HIV.
Alex is relieved. There is no risk of infecting someone else during sex.
By the way, transmission via blood or from a mother to her child is also prevented in this way.
For couples, this means that they can become parents and have children naturally.
Important! HIV cannot be transmitted in everyday life anyway, whether in professional interactions, in leisure time or in sports.
Alex would like more people to know about this topic. Tell your friends, your family or share this video on social media.
