It's quite cute when you say "r" interchangably with "l" even in english. It really shows how strongly this is imprinted in japanese. I wonder is there really no difference in the meaning between "r" and "l".

the japanese language lacks a hard r and a hard l. the sound they have instead is usually romanized as an "r" but it sounds more like a mix of both letters.

I speak and write in Japanese. It's not that hard but Kanji is the hardest!
hiragana and katakana are syllabaries. like you have a letter for ka ki ku ke and ko. so it's not really that difficult
