    There were a lot of his jokes that if you think about them weren't even funny, and yet he made them funny when I listened to him tell them. That is comic genius.

    Milton and a few others set the stage for us today, to soften the blows of life with an innocent smile. The world lives with a frown, but Milton lived with a smile.

    Standup is where Berle's real talent was, where he could ad lib zings to the audience. I never thought that he was all that hot in sketches, where he was more tied to the script. This is a great example of Berle when he does the thing that he does best.

    LEGEND!!! it's great to see timing and deliverance executed perfectly, the references may be a bit dated (though i got all the jokes) but to see where people like Jim Norton and Anthony Cumia adopted the same style of speech patterns is awesome. feel bad for those who can't understand comedy for its linguistic value and only go for simple minded dick and fart jokes.

    • @NoOne-kr4jc
      @NoOne-kr4jc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not a stand up, comedy writer, or anything, but I have an opinion, and I am open to any criticism. I think you are right with linguistic value. You never said there's anything wrong with those blue jokes you mentioned and I do not know your position with this, I think some of them are good jokes regardless. I love sex and death jokes. People complain about it being dirty, but that's how my mind works. "What are the three worst words to hear while making love? Honey I'm home." That's a classic. I think Redd Foxx was another great example of talking blue material and being funny. Good ideas seem fine to me in comedy but purists I do not agree with, as I think comedy is a very creative craft, and some are very lucky to acquire a unique style. Just because we do not get it doesn't mean its not funny, right? Its like people who dig rap music and are not into big band jazz. Every mind is different (but what matters is if you have an audience, and I am not speaking strictly about stand up).

    First of all, so called "Milton Berle",
    wasn't his real name. There was nothing wrong with his actual birth name, Mendel Berlinger. Obviously he "sold out" his birth name because of the shallowness of the entertainment industry?! Most likely the change was made as the result of a greedy Business Manager, with perceived notions of greater recognition accompanied with monetary gains? In reality, it's also shows blatant disrespect for one's parents & their family heritage, just to possibly obtain (not earn) a greater buck?!
