They can do a ton of harm and people even need hip replacement from taking them orally. The ointment is not that way. And my body was physically dependent on it too, I almost died from Adrenaline crash going down off it. I went from 100 Milligrams to 5. It took 8 years. I am still on 5, and if I get really sick I am forced back to 40 for a week. I can gain 12 pounds in that short week while taking it. I am only 5 feet 0. I weigh 164 now. I used to weigh over 210. think the point is every person isn’t the same. If I take 5 mgs I am ok. If I try taking 0 I start to collapse still. I don’t know why? 5 is a low dose! My body is not everyone else’s body. I also do not breath correctly now but I would rather take more inhalers than all that Prednisone. I am probably one day going to quit breathing and die and I can live with that I guess. I have never smoked a day in my life and have COPD. Life isn’t always fair. It should be. I don’t know how much is absorbed by topical ointment really? Not much I’m sure. But I get her fear because weight gain is not the only side effect of steroids and she probably doesn’t understand that topical would be far different than oral.
