I honestly feel Prince of Persia needs to be remade, it was a great game for it's time, but what's always bothered me is that the game was never really Persian enough. A would love a game with a true Persian Iranian setting like Persepolis in southern Iran, during the time of Darius, Cyrus, or Xerxes. Prince of Persia 2008 focused on being more accurate on Persian culture and mythology, but didn't do much to educate on Iranian history.
I have heard the Wii version of TFS got the Persian architecture more accurately. The thing is, even Jordan Mechner, the creator, has openly said the franchise is "Arabian Nights inpired", so there isn't any point in expecting historical accuracy or anything.
I absolutely agree with you!! I expect the remake to be more commited to true Persian architeture, music, costumes, culture and all those stunning historical elements of the ancient Persian empire, after all, why having a game taking place in a certain place and time if it's not going to look like it, right!? I remember being fascinated by seeing that beautiful scene when the prince touch a wall covered in texts written in the Old Persian cuneiform syllabary, such a nice touch! It not just enriches the narrative and immersion in that world, but also makes it believable, pretty much what they do to the Assassin's Creed series. They actually added some elements to the games, although The Warrior Within was the less commited one (I love the game but there are lots of nonsense elements). And especially I want the characters to actually look Persians in all their plurality, not white (some tanned) caucasian people like Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton. Kaileena and Shahdee, imo, have two of the worst character designs in the series. They bear ZERO Persian references, except for Shahdee's name, which means "witness" in Persian. Now "Kayllena" is not even a Persian name, it's supposed to be an invention based on the name "Kyle", which is a word of Celtic origin... 😳 and regarding Farah: I could be so wrong but I'm not sure if an Indian princess would bear an Arabic name, unless she's Urdu!? 🤔 Anyways, they could keep the names but make the characters and art direction more grounded. 🙂
XD this video was worth the 100 episodes dang. Although some of the nightmare fuel arent really that scary lol. Had a good laugh at some of the faces btw some of the cutscene SoT farah pics came out really well!!
