Fun cars but they have terrible electrical issues.
I heard about this problem from the owners, but they can be fixed in a good service for little money
I had a 2001PT Cruiser and I miss it so much right now it was a very good car an very comfortable to drive
Mine is a 2001 manual shift. Second owner and love it.

I just bought the same car as my first car recently. Beyond the somewhat stiff steering wheel. And savage insurance where I live that I barely can afford. This is a comfortable car 2 more steps before I can drive it Can't wait.

I've seen a lot of Dodge neons and PT cruisers make the same squealing noise from the serpentine belt.

Question: I have a 2.4 l. 2001 pt cruiser. The mileage I get on it in the city is 13.5/gal. Is it acceptable or something is wrong with the car? It has 200.000 miles on it. What can I do, to better the mileage? Thanks for all suggestions.

That's pretty poor. My 2003 (same engine) pulls 25 with me at the wheel in cooler weather, no AC, and about 21 or so in hotter weather when I do use the AC. Both numbers are for local, in-town use, without a lot of aggressive driving.
With that high an odometer reading, it's possible that some work needs doing, if it hasn't been done. Keep up on air filter replacement, tire pressures, spark plug/wire replacement, etc, and factor driving habits, AC usage, gear selection, and overall vehicle condition.
