- Finally! The Gigantoraptor from the Cretaceous Predator Pack is now actually a PREDATOR in Jurassic World Evolution 2. This comes as part as a small update that introduces bug fixes and a much requested feature.

While this is quite the nice news, since our beloved giant rooster finally gets to actually shine, I still want Frontier to give the Archelon interactions with other marine fauna, I just don't get why they didn't do so :0

While I do understand making Archelon killable by Mosasaurs and Tylosaurus for accuracy (we have bite marks on Archelon fossils from some sort of Mosasaurid) I'm against it for gameplay reasons, it's the only thing that can live with Mosasaurus without being murdered
i feel like it’s tradition at this point to give homalocephale ridiculously violent and brutal death animations
The fact homalocephale is so slow it can almost never outrun anything either. As soon as something goes after it it’s screwed

I’ll be testing if small carnivores refers to Troodon, Moros, Sinosauropteryx, Compies, or maybe (but hopefully not) Oviraptor. I put Oviraptors in with them to act as babies in a park…
I will say, I think the guest kill is supposed to be more like a territorial display like a giant cassowary, not to eat
Large carnos ignore the compies, at least in my experience.
From what I've seen. It can hunt small herbivores in general, but it's animations for both humans and carnivores are bugged. The human kill seems it just needs tweaks, but carnivore kill just doesn't work
That animation of the Gigantoraptor killing guests is definitely bugged, because it's staring at nothing, as well as a guest scream is heard when it does it's "celebratory dance". It's definitely supposed to bump into the guest, and then stomp on them instead. You can also see it slowly move/slide mid-animation as if it's snapping back into place.

Hopefully the next big animation overhaul will finally be the coveted update that allows sauropods to fight back against predators and each other. It would fit a herbivore pack very well, especially one that happens to have Microceratus...

A rly cool animation I thought about for Hadrosaur's is that the gigantoraptor could run to or in front of it and kick the legs or ram into it from the side 🧠
Someone on Discord said the patch notes were time stamped 9 days ago, so its interesting theyve waitied until a Friday to release it.

I just used the automation feature for the first time the other day and I did find it weird you couldn’t edit the genome. Definitely needed

I just recently started a new park after some time away and got the new DLC I'd missed and oh boy what a treat to come back to a game that just gets so much continued development and feature improvement. Frontier deserves all the hugs and kisses.
A nice unexpected update. When I first saw the Gigantoraptor kill animation for animals and humans smaller then them in a different video, I thought it was a mod. So I went to check out it's JWE2 store page and saw that it's true.
Nice to see some interesting small things added in this update. Especially for the Gigantoraptor.
I think small carnivores refers to moros, complies, celoe and hopefully not oviraptor but maybe.
I didn't test it myself but according to reports from others it doesn't work on the tiny carnivores either.
Looking at my habitat littered with corpses of homalocephales and gallimimus, I was reminded of a famous quote:

I feel like the Gigantoraptor would be that one animal would would have a chill attitude and great for a sort of feed station, like guests feeding the animals.
One thing I want them to fix: The translated species placement on the hatcheries. In brazillian portuguese (my language) the placement of some species in the hatcheries is on the english config, despite the names being fully translated. For example, Spinosaurus (Espinossauro), Stegosaurus (Estegossauro) and Styracosaurus (Estiracossauro) were supposed to be with Edmontosaurus and Euoplocephalus, since all of them start with "E" (Also Struthiomimus (Estrutiomimo). Honestly, I don' t really feel bothered, but I would prefer if the translated alphabetic order was correctly placed

Another awesome piece of news you might have missed, Planet Zoo will soon be available on PS5 and other consoles. I've been waiting 2 years to finally play that game! My laptop isn't strong enough to play it unfortunately.

This was their first social media post about JWE2 in a week. When I saw It I got excited for a split second... although updates usually come alongside a dlc I was waiting for something else to be posted.. damn they have been quiet with this game
They've done tiny updates between the bigger updates + DLC's drops before, so this was not unusual. It's just that these kinds of in-between updates rarely include anything worth covering, so they fly under the radar.
As for their social media presence: they have been quiet. Considering they let go of their senior Community Managers, this might just be the new norm.
By small carnivores, I would suggest Coelophysis. But, I would’ve thought that they would add a dlc with the update. It should release around this month.
I've seen that BiS tried Coelo and couldn't get it to work either

nah but I did a fight to the death with every creature in the game… The Camarosaurus won.
I hope they patch the unrepairable aviary glitch. After the december update, sometimes my aviaries get damaged and I can not repair them. Luckily Ptetosaurd can not escape using them, though.

I think that if there’s going to be a cretaceous herbivore pack for this game, I would assume they will include the following: Microceratus, Thescelosaurus, Diabloceratops, and Tenontosaurus. Maybe they will follow it up with another DLC for the Triassic period including Postosuchus, Placerias, Demastosuchus, and Plateosaurus. And, hopefully, we could have a DLC for semi-aquatic animals like Deinosuchus where you can have them be land dwelling animals with an ability to swim in the water.

Is there any word on them patching the transport glitch? I still have a park with a bunch of ptersoaurs I can’t move at all because of this glitch, and the only real solution I’ve seen is to wait for them to patch it.

Evo the animation might be bugged because if you look at it the gigantoraptor and when it hunts a person you can see it look at its feet but I might be wrong tho so it’s just a speculation and it completely misses the person too

I've reproduced the EVO scene but it doesn't work for me. The 4 Gigantoraptors remains impassive in front of the goat and the Homalocephalus!

actually in the hunting class file gigantoraptor target Tiny carnivores (Compsognathus,ect...)but not small carnivores .that why its not working with dilophosaurus.
I would have loved it if during the chase the dracorex turned to face and snap at the gigantoraptor causing it to panic and accidently stomp directly on it's head while trying to stop

I don’t know why, but it seems that it doesn’t realize how big it is so it’s just trying to play with the humans then accidentally kills them and gets sad. I don’t know why but it seems like that’s what’s happening.

What I think with the carnivores, I haven't tried it myself, is they may need to be smaller. Pyroraptor is a small carnivore, but like how stuthiomimus is a small herbivore. Dilo might be in that boat. Maybe Troodon, Compy(which is more scavenger), Moros, maybe more in that range.

Did frontier allow utharaptor to pounce like the other raptors? I'm kinda upset that the biggest raptor can't hunt as many species as the smaller raptors.

Now all I really want is for the devs to fix the ridiculous carnivore bias. I know it's the Jurassic franchise but a Therizinosaurus should not be losing to a Majungasaurus
Evo try the compy or celophisis to see if they can get hunted by the gigantoraptor.
It spits out the goat and similar size, I wonder if they can swallow something smaller like a compy (assuming it will actually go after them).
I don't think it attacks the smallest group of dinosaurs
I gave it a go, like you I couldn't get them to hunt other carnies either. So either the compies are just too small for them to care, or they won't hunt them because they are carnies.
I prefer not to feed my dinos other dinos but it would have been interesting to see if they could/would eat them at all.
i think the "dance" is the gigantoraptor shaking guests to death, basically the guest it bugged out for the entire time
