This chair is definitely what I needed for those long day hikes. Yeah it’s easy to sit on the floor or a pad but… my ass gets angry at me after 😂 different type of comfort on the trail.
I have used the bivy for four nights - a weekend trip and two overnighted. 26-39 degrees (not that temp matters) and I love it! The only negative I anticipate is when mosquitoes are bad, it would be nice to have a tent to sit in to avoid those products of satan. 🤙
I'm really curious about that chair. I've got a basic Amazon chair like you showed in the background, and it's okay but it tends to give way if the ground is too soft. I'm with you on the air mattress. I like a bigger pad. I toss & turn a lot so it really helps me get through the night better. Thanks for putting this together and sharing!
Thanks for the kind comment! The Trek Chair sinks like the rest of them so you need a hack by using the practice golf balls. I think Get Our Gear may be working on a solution for this too! I hope it pans out. That being said, I actually hate chairs backpacking because I am just not comfortable in them, but this Trek Chair has totally sold me. Even with dealing with some sinking, it was still comfortable and I didn't feel like I was going to tip over. I think I may do a give away for one when I hit 1500 subs. Cheers Jonny!
Now that I have a more comfortable sleeping pad I think the bivy will get used much more. I have not done tents much in a couple of years. I still prefer the hammock for sleep, but dang, I can't argue how much space I save with the bivy,.
I needed 1 pole for my tarp this past weekend. What I did was set up my tarp with a tree and 1 trekking pole, got it staked out, then took out the pole so I could use my chair. Then when it was time to turn in for the night I just had to place the pole. Since everything was staked out where it needed to be it took less than a minute to get set up again. I think this same method could be used the for tents. Rain is the variable there, but I tend not to sit in a chair in the rain :).
I picked up a ZPacks Arc Air late last year and have used it a handful of times. Still trying to get it to ride right without the stays poking into my hips. I love everything else about that pack except the ride. I just got the Durston X-mid 1 person tent. Haven't taken it out on a hike yet but I've played with it in the yard. I think it's going to work just fine. Lol! Love the end!
@@MarkGoesHiking Hope so, I just discovered your channel. You have something special going on here that has a lot of potential. This doesn't happen a lot, but you managed to get me busting up laughing with how you slip comedy into your videos. Lol

Right on! Well said. Cheers!
For the pad just get the pump sack to open wide, let air in on its own and push it in the pad. No need to actually blow air into it ☺️
All most Friday again time is flulying have a good weekend thanks for sharing cracking job u legend 👍
Thanks brother! Happy treasure hunting!
Don’t breathe into the Nemo sack! Blow across the top of it. The Venturi will do the rest.🎉
I’m digging the Trek Chair as well! I’m interested in getting a balaclava for the colder nights. Interested in hearing how the bivvy works out for ya.

Good call on the bivy, used one similar for use in the shelters on the AT, kept the mice off lol

Very cool chair design! Only problem I can see is if you are already using your hiking poles for your tent.

@@MarkGoesHiking - Or I suppose you could find a stick as a temp pole for the tent.
Holy smokes, who was that Giant?
🤣

Bummer to hear about the ride of your pack. I am so close to caving and getting an x-mid 1. Thanks! Cheers!
Just like me, Arc Air and the Durstan 1P. I’m probably going to pick up the 2P and get rid of my outdoor vitals Fortius 2P.
Come back, buddy!
I'm working on it! 😃
