I've had bad mornings, but not like this. Guy Berkhart wakes up screaming on June 15. He dreams of an explosion and something hitting his head. The same thing happens again the next day, and the next day, and the next. IEEEEEE. Only two people aren't affected by this "deja vu all over again." (Quoting Yogi Berra, not the writer of this story, Frederik Pohl.) A combination of Halloween III, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, and Groundhog Day. You're led to think one thing, then another, then another twist. (from "The Critical X Minus One" by Jim Fanisher)
Credits (Goldin): Frederick Pohl (author), Fred Collins (announcer), George Lefferts (adaptor), John Larkin (narrator), Daniel Sutter (director), Les Damon, Ginger Jones, Bob Hastings, Connie Lembcke, Stan Early, Kermit Murdock, William Welch (producer)

The first time, I heard this episode was in 1976 on a cassette tape that I checked out from my local library. I remember reading in John Dunning's "Tune In Yesterday, A History of Old Time Radio" that this episode was broadcast in the final days of old time radio and this story was left to your vivid imagination. It could only be heard on radio and your mind had to visualize this story . Well, anyway, I still enjoy listening to this radio program even though I know how the story ended.

Sometimes when I hear the broadcast date is in the '50's on these recordings, I get a little sad, as it means the end of old time radio was nearing, but I also must say, the quality of the shows, the script, performances were so good and polished that the result is a masterwork like this episode. Thank you for sharing it with us. 🙏Also Frederick Pohl has just become a writer I will remember and look for more stories by. This could have been a predictable plot, but that "little" twist at the end, I did not see coming.

From a brilliant short story by Frederik Pohl. Authors must be credited!
On a very similar theme, Simulacron 3 by Daniel F. Galouye is recommended.

It is a snapshot of when America was in her prime.
Like I commented before, after all night every night you forget our country is out of control.
Like I said, this kind of propo will have to all be destroyed for the new world 😟

Its bad when a benign comment is censored.
More and more, its pointless to comment or read them because they're not real if not of the individuals mind and heart.🤨

I most certainly apologize if I'm wrong, its just I'm sensitive to censorship and it is rampant.
