    You cannot but have great admiration for Giacomo Agostini.....a gentleman and not egotistical like many riders become when they've had success. I spotted him here in the UK at a motorcycle show and he gladly signed my copy of his book ''15 times'' which i thoroughly recommend.

    For their 100th anniversary moto guzzi should have built 100 modern interpretations of this bike, I'm sure they could have asked for as much money as they liked and they would have sold out immediately.

    By todays Standard this Bike looks like a Scratchbuilt Bike with all this rough tubing, but when you know how Old it is, it really is a Masterpiece in engineering. Some insanely Features not even many Modern Bikes have are Onboard. Two Stage Springs at the Front, Liquid cooled V8 Engine on the Bike... I cannot even imagine the Bravery of the Riders pushing this Beast around a Racetrack. Also, Giacomo Agostini... By the things he acomplished, i´d call him the Moto Godfather of Racing... Unbelievable how good he suits his MV Agusta at the Age of 80! What a living and riding Legend.

      The master of aluminium welding was Ernie Earles, the inventor of the Earles fork as used on 1960s BMWs. He could weld aluminium using oxy-acetylene torches. There's a surviving example of one of his bikes, an aluminium-framed race machine with Earles forks, rear fork, tanks, etc, all made by Earles. I think it has a mid-1950s BSA twin engine, with of course alloy head and barrel

    One thing I do kind of hate with people that think the fatter the rear tire is the better it looks . There are some people think that it helps and it dont . To me a fat tire only means that a person cant ride a bike with out training wheels . A friend of mine bought a Kawasaki KH400 with stock 3.50 tire on the back . He put 4.10 tire on the back . I pretty much told him WHY . The 3.50 tire would be better there would be some less pattern but that is good in a way on the curves . It give the bike a little bit of drift on the rear and not grab some much . A better thing is to have vary good adjustable shocks would make all the difference in the world . Much much more than bigger tire on the back . I think he put a wider tire on the back like he only going to do is a straight line racing . But not worth a crap on the turns . For those guys that has a crotch rocket . You do realize that these bike are not race ready and for street use right . I have seen a lot of steer bump just because of back tires and bad factory shocks and ill prep bikes . If you people look everything on these bikes is prepped for racing this includes skinny tires . It's about speed and agility both .

      Leaving out the purely visual aspects of rear tyre choice, why then do the quickest turning bikes on the planet use large section rear tyres?

    • @GuidoBatt
      @GuidoBatt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frankbeaton4776 Well, that's not the whole story. A fatter tire will hold a steeper angle, as the base that touches the ground is wider, but a leaner one will turn quicker because of less gyroscopic inertia (say, maneuverability vs. stability: it depends on the type of road you're running on).

    The Italians built beautiful Race Motorcycles, Multi cylinder over head cam....as did Honda. The British built single cylinder Manx Nortons and AJS race bikes (and others) and went just a fast, but were often more reliable. 2 differing philosophies with the same outcome. After the ww2 they decided they couldn't run alcohol in Grand Prix racing because it was so dangerous for the riders! As I'm understanding it can produce invisible flame. So Moto Guzzi decided they had to do something to get the power back. 8 cylinders was their answers!! They built two of them @ equivalent to $50k/. Then they wrecked one. I think that was the end of that program!! I'm not so sure beyond that!!
