Fred Again’s style is simple yet incredibly tasteful. His drones and those transposed out of nowhere bass lines are the salt and pepper spice to that simplicity. He’s my favorite EDM artist right now.
you said it all, really love the drones he creates.. Wish someone (Alex Rome please please please) would make a video on how to make harmonical drones :p
Simplicity is key! The most timeless tracks are always the simple ones. They seem to connect with people in a way that's different to complex tracks, where if there is to much going on it becomes a bit much. To me, trance became to bulky and it killed the original sound leading it to become very unpopular, while at the same time techno/house stayed true to its roots and has always maintained a strong following by keeping it simple. Of course this is always opinion based and that's my take on it!
the way i say 'ohhhh HELL yeah' every time you say 'isn't that cool?' as if you can hear me is what sets your channel apart my bro. THANK YOU for this video and every video. I'm literally JUST starting to learn production after DJing for nearly 3 years now and man you are my hero! THANK YOU ALEX !
Yo, this is actually crazy. Just chilling, watching some yt video and then this dude comes up and plays this little test melody (0:53) and now I have one of the best inspirations for a new track since quite some time. Will definately update here when I'm done. Had other plans for today but guess they gotta wait now.
Great video and great advice. Especially as someone just starting to get into making music I appreciate hearing that a good song can be very simple and doesn't require tons of overlapping automations. The only automation you used in the video was a volume fade! You do have a way of making Serum look way easier than it actually is tho...how do you do that!?
I don't think you replied to my other comment @Alex Rome but I tried signing up for your online course and your scheduler is messed up! It won't let you change the calendar to next month in order to select a date. Just shooting you another heads up hoping you'll see this msg.
Man I love your passion and attention to detail, you are so good at getting to the core of what makes good music good, I hope one day I can be making good music too
I knew I subsribe your channel but haven't seen any video from you. I have to scroll down my subscribtion list bcoz I don't remember your channel name. Glad I found you again.
Hey bro, love what you do, you’ve helped me grow a lot. so I followed you step by step in this tutorial like I always do and the Serum arp synth ended up sounding like a conga drum lol. Did you skip a step in the video? Please reply, this would be really helpful ❤
I think you're making a mistake in saying that Fred Again keeps it simple. In my opinion, you forget to address what really makes the difference from other house tracks. Namely the drums and the way he mixes organic and synthetic elements very well mixed and which give a spontaneous and at the same time slightly complex side to his rhythm. Not more developing the subjects of Fred Again's drums means missing out on 50% of the analysis of his productions
It's... good background music. I mean I'm not a big artist because I don't upload music but I can write this on a sunday afternoon. I think it's boring. But that's the beauty about music, it's completely subjective.
Thanks for dooing the analasys. Check out this need modulation in the very famous song, it took me almost 2 hours to understand what is happening in Numa Numa to the chords. 1:00 - 1:40 th-cam.com/video/YnopHCL1Jk8/w-d-xo.html
Your arp synth sounds quite messy because you’re playing (drawing) the dotted 8th manually with echo on. I’m pretty sure it’s a dotted 8th delay on a staccato (short plucked notes) synth playing single notes with portamento (slide) on.
🤔Adore u is very chill, but tbh it lacks something compared to some of his other tracks. It's almost 90s dance the way the piano drives it, which isn't a bad thing, but it's still a bit meh. Nice recreate though, Alex!

ew his generic music is not great and no song will stand the test of time.

Can someone explain 3rd and 5th notes and things like tonic and stuff like that to make chords easier to do on my own? To understand them better? Pls
David Bennett Piano is a TH-cam channel ran by a pianist who explains music theory. He has some videos on chords if you wanna check them out.
Would love to see a breakdown of Opus by Eric Prydz.
Can you do a video on the band "The Diogenes Club" ? They've got some really dope stuff that I'd love to see covered in a style study.
Keep making this content
Damn that’s good
dude!!!! great video
Thanks
Hey Alex, could you link to your Spotify? I found one Alex Rome account but not sure it's you. Cheers!
Please do trinix and colins live mix of sky full of stars by coldplay!
