I commented already but I had to come back and say this is the greatest duck hunting film I’ve ever seen. And it’s not even close. No idea how this doesn’t have 500k views so far.
I've been hunting these suckers since 1986 and can fairly say I've not experienced 10 hunts like that the whole time. Wow! More importantly, you two are truly enjoying it, not just because of the ducks but also because of your friendship. I have shared that and miss some of those fellas everyday. I really enjoyed watching this. You guys are doing it right. Well done!
@@AbandonOutdoors You can really tell. This was the first one of yours I’ve ever come across and it’s so well done. Field always did a really job with those and this is that good or better.
This is one of the best duck hunting videos I’ve ever seen. And this is real duck hunting!! Just a couple buddies doing it the right way. So sick and tired of seeing these massive groups with massive spreads in pit blinds with heaters and tvs and grills… Dude. Cmon. Commercial duck hunting sucks!! Shout out to the good ol boys who still do it like this. Like us regular joes.
Thank you, really appreciate that. They honestly were keyed in on the creek when the temperatures were really cold because the surrounding lakes had completely frozen over. The rest of the time it was pretty much just traffic, but we were under a lot of birds so it really helped!
We had the same thing last during the freeze in Kansas out group shot 119 green heads a few pintails and wigeon and 1 hen in 4 days. Will never experience anything like it again probably
We both use aftermarket chokes, I use a code black patternmaster and Matt uses a kicks, not sure which one. I honestly think aftermarket chokes are worth their weight in gold!
One other thing I’d like to say ,Being 66 ,I grew up with lead shot, early in alternative shot tyme was terrible,But now because of competition with shot shell manufacture people and the chokes, that I will pattern it’s changed,Over the years I’ve seen enough head ,broken wing, and body shot ducks to know how they react. Although your shooting was superior than any I’ve seen online ,You may have edited a few misses but Your shooting was as good as it gets,I’ve heard about those chokes and I will pattern some next year to see ,I’ve heard pros and cons but in waterfowling always keep an open mind,You guys do it well !
They are tight chokes which I really like because if you miss you miss and if you hit them they die, also what helped us for the high percentage hit rate was that these birds were all pretty dang close. Camera can be deceiving sometimes on distance but I doubt there were many shots over 40 yards.
@@AbandonOutdoors under forty that’s when most people choke,I’ve seen a lot of people shoot right by a duck because of leading a bird,When I see all of this,This Eastern shore ,Maryland hunter wishes he could live forever !
@AbandonOutdoors well you're definitely living right. You all were blessed with something spectacular. I'm only halfway through it and this this is nuts. How many cameras? What type of camera were you guys taking turns with?
So I currently am running a canon xa50 all the static camera shots are just on my iphone I set up in the spread. Those are the only two cameras we used on these hunts.
We always use 3” 1 1/4 oz. 2s basically the cheapest case or box we can find but we do use aftermarket chokes, I’m a firm believer in the patternmaster.
Question for you other duck hunters. Just got a sbe3 What ammo are you guys having good luck with patterning ? I bought some black clouds 3inch. 3shot with a mid range Carlsons choke and they are awful 😂
You know I have a patternmaster in mine and I’m a firm believer in it. I always shoot 3” 2s pretty much the cheapest ammo I can find unless they’re Winchester xperts, I do not like those shells at all.
Matt says this “The only pair of waders I’ve ever had that are going to make it 2 full hunting seasons, I’m sure there are better waders out there but yes I like these ones”.
Id take woodies over Mallard every day. I really don't get what people like about Mallard, there are many better tasting ducks and they are big and easy to shoot.
Great video and hunts. One thing to comment on, there is nothing "red" about a drake mallard's legs. I know this is a term from the old timers and maybe they were color blind. Those legs are as orange as they can be.
“ if you don’t shoot a mallard on the water I don’t trust you” Awesome. Put that on a t shirt . I’d buy it. Unbelievable hunting.
Haha! Matt always has some good ones, might have to put it on a shirt.
@@AbandonOutdoorsI would absolutely but it

It was a neat experience and I think the friendships made in duck hunting is one of the best things about it!
One of the better hunting videos I’ve seen since the old Zink 247 dvds. Very similar depictions of the hunts. Great video boys
Really appreciate that, those are the videos I grew up watching!
@@AbandonOutdoors You can really tell. This was the first one of yours I’ve ever come across and it’s so well done. Field always did a really job with those and this is that good or better.
First vid I’ve seen of yours…very cool, cameraman’s excellent…Congrats on a great string of hunts, just subscribed!
Thank you, really appreciate that!

Wow guys that’s amazing! You’ll recall these days of hunting the rest of your lives.
Thanks! We'll be sure to never forget them!
1 hour and 15 minutes of pure magic
Thank you my man!
Props to you guys, you found em, got there early and hammered ‘em. You don’t often have them landing too close. You’ll remember those 10 days. 👍
It's definitely one we won't forget!
I’m 12:43 into this and I’m beyond happy with this video. Stellar job guys!
Thank you! Really appreciate that it means a lot!
@ absolutely 👍🏻

incredible video! respect on the shorthair as well!
Thank you, he’s a great dog!
Incredible hunts! That creek is magic.
It really is!
Really awesome video! Great footage and good story telling!
Those ducks really seemed keyed into that creek, any idea why?
Thank you, really appreciate that. They honestly were keyed in on the creek when the temperatures were really cold because the surrounding lakes had completely frozen over. The rest of the time it was pretty much just traffic, but we were under a lot of birds so it really helped!
Best vid I’ve seen all year !!
Thank you, that really means a lot!
super video
You can come shoot your limit of ring necks daily here in Alabama haha. Absolutely amazing hunts guys. Congrats 👍🏻
Great video man. awesome coverage. God's greatest creation on earth, other than children......
The Mallard Duck

No slack shooters there ! What a hunt ! Mod or open cyl

You guys know how to film.. It's so hard to hunt and film it all yourself... Nice work
Thank you, that means a lot, it’s definitely a challenge but it’s worth it when we can tell a story!

This is insane
It really was
Great video. Danny, what is that gun you’re shooting?
Thank you! That is a benelli super black eagle 3.
Where did you find the Red Golden? I have one who is retiring this year. Looking for another.
I bought Chester from a friend in South Dakota who’s not really a breeder. They are planning to have another litter in the near future though.
Just curious what you guys were using here for your shot?
We always use 3” 1 1/4 oz. 2s basically the cheapest case or box we can find but we do use aftermarket chokes, I’m a firm believer in the patternmaster.
Watch out for the grebs get a ticket look like a coot but Colorado only has them early season idk about Wyoming can’t shoot them here haha
random question: what collars do you use on your dogs?
We use garmin sport pros.

@ what choke. And mid range or long range ? You’re the second person to recommend those
Hello,What do you use as a duck whistle
I just have an old primos whistle.
Cabelas waders? Like them?
Matt says this “The only pair of waders I’ve ever had that are going to make it 2 full hunting seasons, I’m sure there are better waders out there but yes I like these ones”.
What state? All I got is woodys in Ga
This is in Idaho.
Id take woodies over Mallard every day. I really don't get what people like about Mallard, there are many better tasting ducks and they are big and easy to shoot.
@seanbennett7916 idk man. Woodies are small and hard to hit.
@@austintaylor5683 that's what makes them fun they are harder to get and taste better. Same with teal.
I remember those days! Freaking out when ANYTHING but a woody came in

I know I was being sarcastic haha inside joke.
