There's a lot of things wrong with this car`s redesign. The conversion to RWD is the easy part. (A number of Cords in the 1950`s had their front axel taken out and like a hot olds or cad engine put in). The paint is an idealized candy but its still just a candy. To me, what should have ben done is to deemphiphize the hydraulic pump system because that's too innbcity. You want to drive the design towards a more upscale social direction. To me, the most disappointing aspect was the grille and hood area. The grille is a simple crude extention of the stock grille eliminating the e inte. rest items is just wrong. They z
Interest items is just wrong. They Could have sectioned and chopped it carefully to make it look a lot more slinky.. But Eldos with a too radical sectioning and chop just look wrong you have to be careful. Finally why not lower the hood raised area to lower the front profile. Originally this was a power image thing on eldos but here a lower, more fluid image is far better, so..... W. &
I'm just adding my perspective as a graphic designer. I remember the late 50's George Barris era along with Joe Baillon after which came like Winfield, the Alexander Bros. Etc. My brothers chopped a lot of cars in the old days. So I do have good perspective on what works and why some cars are honest efforts, like this one, but can be made better. All I was offering my viewpoint. So exactly what do you feel was wrong of the point I listed?

Lotsa time , thought, and expertise in this ride!! On a side note people in southern Co and northern Nm used to drive cars slammed on the ground with NO hydros....They knew their cars and how to drive on various surfaces! Be Well

This piece of road going jewellery on the other hand, has left me completely "blinged out". Great work brother as always.....
This generation of ELDORADO was probably Bill Mitchell's best effort (recalling the 50's efforts, still under the wing of Harley Earl). The lines are so clean, there's that balance of form and function (nothing to excess, that you'll see in the next iteration, up to '78 downsizing). There were those "Battle of Inches"war years, where so much acreage was added on to best LINCOLN (to the derision of Europen designers). The modifications could be misinterpreted, yes, but think of how fantastic these new interior accoutrements balance with the original lines. Great! The paint speaks for itself. Roll this up aside any STUTZ models and this will hold its own!
How bout the wrench time put in on this..suicide doors flipped to rear wheel. The Interior "Pops"The paint is sweet. Lotta changes on this Eldo. Hats off. Thanks for bringin it Scottie!! C Ya
A lot of people seem to forget or never knew that lowriders, kustoms and hot rods came from the same core base of customizers. That is why more traditional lowriders and hot rods share the same style of paint jobs, chrome and all that except hot rods lean more towards speed than looks, kustoms more of a cross between both looks and speed and lowriders more towards looks, of course many of them end up with a souped up engine too just in case. I appreciate all cars that take real work and talent to put together.

That was way cool Scottie. Paint reminiscent of gellcoat work from Eliminator Boats in SoCal. The Ford Lincoln rear hinged doors xcellent. And converting 2 a rear wheel platform was how this vehicle should have left the GM Plant in the 1st place. Interior & truck ( boot in Aussie lingo )👏👏👏👌👌👌 1st class. The centre console was sweet. Gr8 👓👓👓 Rig

I had one of those, bought it in 1972. That is beautiful. Jay leno has the tornado that he made into rear wheel drive ,I think Jays has like 1200 horsepower.

And if I’m not mistaken I think he’s even the president of lifestyles car club to. they are known for building some of the most beautiful low riders in the country this is a great one Scottie
Hey Scottie that car belongs to Joe ray of lowrider magazine he also owns a more famous car a 72 riviera boattail called "Dressed to kill" look it up it was featured in a film with Mark Hamill of star wars fame & Annie Potts called "Corvette Summer" my favorite car movie based in the 70s
You must not know the owner of that car. Joe Ray was the pres of Lifestyle car club, they are the torchbearers of traditional L.A. lowrider style, but they take it to another level. Their cars are always cleeeeeean and untouchable. He eventually became the lead at Lowrider Mag and used his position of influence to shape the hobby. His style has matured and evolved and morphed and adapted some of what the AMBR guys have been doing. You may want to check out what powers the Helldorado. That whole car is exquisite. I think it may sway and inspire future builds.

Jay Leno built a hot rod like it but like you said Scottie he and his team did a whole lotta work to make it a rear wheel drive if you have the time check it out on Jay Leno channel it took them a lot of work to make it work.
I saw the episode you had on with the Cadillac Eldorado 68 that transfer over to rear wheel drive is there any information that you can give me about them changing that over or I can contact the people that did it

He basically had a chassis built from scratch in order to get the suspension and stance to work out to what you see today..
