0:43 my expression is also same madam even whenever somebody tries to explain story or scenes. As usual your research/hardwork is really brilliant and creative.
After your explanation, I think they almost screwed it up, because they don't clearly show the part where the cloth falls into his hands (or actually the cloth leaving his hands). They probably fast-forwarded that portion before revealing KH's face. That almost seems like a jump-cut, which I hate, and which Mani Ratnam too had stopped doing very very long ago.
Yes. Great observations 🙌... There is a part where there is a jerky fast movement of the cloth towards the “catch” It made me look long and hard whether there was digital manipulation of Kamal face during the speech. Given that this is Kamal, and given that Mani Ratnam likes the reverse technique (for example: Madhavan sang in reverse for Kadal sadugudu) I am 99.9% sure Kamal spoke in reverse for thug life, without any digital manipulation stuff.
Mam, its people like you who acts as a bridge between genius directors and dumb audience. Some very good movies turned into underrated or flop movies just because of people didnt understood the cinematic brilliance. Handful of people like you can revive and give the glory to those movie which lacked appreciation for their efforts.
I love to be the bridge… would like to add this point. It’s not permanently “dumb” audience vs “intelligent” critics or analysts. We can watch a movie with analytical mind switched ON or OFF. I frequently watch movies with “switched off” mind… that is, “dumb mode.” especially when I am tired after editing my videos! But everyone can learn to turn ON that switch. So the role of the bridge is not to assume the audience as dumb and keep explaining. The role of the bridge must be to help audience TURN ON the switch for future movies… I hope that after watching a few episodes like this from different decoding channels, people’s minds begin to watch out for symbolisms in movies and music…
I edit all my TH-cam videos! I see between two versions: which version keeps people more interested, which is more easy to understand etc. Plus any music composer who composes for scenes, should know the basics of good visual story telling even if they can't do special effects CGI.
You nailed this !!! Brilliant explanation
Glad to hear 🙌😃
