i just had my beautiful stranger moment. i was on a train omw to dinner and the cabin was empty. there was a girl sitting opposite to me but that was about it. i was listening to laufey as i always do and the train stopped at a station. a guy came in and sat beside me. he carried a luggage and had a beachy perfume scent, salty and sweet. i glanced at him and he was superr good looking. like a good side profile. until my stop i continued listening to laufey and listened to beautiful stranger. my heart kinda ached as i knew that i would most likely not meet him again. how do i get over him? 😭

I'm grateful I've been spared from the trouble that comes with being able to fall in and out of love (I guess that's what is called aro and ace nowadays?). Despite that, I always have a thing for love songs. Not the kinda pure pop love song, but jazzy rnb indie songs like these that tell stories of heartbreak and hopeless romantic in a magical way. When listening to your songs, I feel like a hopeless romantic myself, making up dumb love scenarios in my head for my favorite characters. I can just picture them chatting under the sun in a lovely flower field, meeting in a subway and exchanging glances with one another, growing old together side by side. They're already living 24/7 rent free in my head and with your songs, it just helps me enrich their stories even more with these vivid images your music helps create. I don't know how to describe it best, but your songs really defined my taste in soft love songs. TH-cam recommendations are most of the time missing the gems I'm looking for, but when they hit me like your songs, they hit different, and I'm so thankful for it.

I remember when I went to Six Flags for a cousins bday and we went on a kid Ferris wheel, cowboy themed and near to a lot of other rides we wanted to go on.
There had to only be six on the ride total so I sat myself and saw the guy running the kid ride, he was dark skinned and his hair was black to red, the coolest faded red I’ve ever seen and his name was Tyler. He sound so cool, his laugh was very contagious and my sister kinda knew it too.
My sister and cousin got on a cart and I was alone, going around and saying hi to my sister then when they got off, he told me to stay on.
Three times
He made jokes, telling me I’m too old so I had to stay in forever and my heart felt like it was soaring. He was the most genuinely amazing guy and we only talked for three turns until he let me off and his smile made my face - (Which was already pink and puffy from the heat) - got hotter and we never met again.
My sister wanted to get his number but I wasn’t that kind of person, and when we went back later he was gone..
For the first time I felt I forgot my ex and met someone who I’d never see, be perfect.
He was funny, he was cool and even if he was just being funny I would’ve loved to be his friend.

Beautiful stranger makes me think about how we met so many people during the day but we often forget how amazing they are. We see them on the bus, on the streets, and never hear about them again. This is kind of strange.
Hopefully this could be a kind of cute story to tell, but each time I listen to this song I think about this sweet beautiful boba employee by my work. I'd see her most mornings on my Tuesday and Wednesday shifts.
The first day I started working by that area and got my daily boba she said I was cute because of my mannerisms I suppose? Ever since then she'd draw cute cats on the lids of my boba drinks (me obviously drawing one back to her as a thank you).
One of these mornings I ended up sleeping in and I looked like HELL! no makeup and full forehead out, I felt gross. But when I went to go get my daily boba she caught me off guard, she told me I looked very pretty that day. I couldn't even form words or thank her. She then proceeded to tell me she's been keeping my cat drawings with cute polaroid pictures of her 3 cats, it genuinely still means the world to know she kept them.
I made her a Valentine's day card with cute cat doodles, a bracelet, along with cute on theme boba cat stickers, though I never got to give it to her, she wasn't on her daily shift like usual. Ever since that day she hasn't been there anymore.
Never have I felt so regretful to not catch someone's name and never has looking at a doodle-less boba drink made me so upset. I hope she's doing wonderful out there.
