I lost it at your children's names 😂😂

    • @seanosull2884
      @seanosull2884 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +57

      Caoimhe - Kweev-eh
Sadhbh - sounds like sigh, but with a 'v' sound at the end.
If you see 'mh' or 'bh' in an Irish name, it's provably a 'v' sound. And 's' makes 'sh' sound if it is before E or I... like my name, Seán.

@@seanosull2884now you have to explain the fada.
      That could funny.
Or as one comedian who learned spoken Irish before reading it said...and then I saw bhfuil...😅
      From Waterford.
Ps...how do you type in the fada?
I can't seem to manage it.

@tracysauvage1351 I would have to write an essay to fully explain Irish orthography 😅 .. but sure, I can give a brief summary of the fada. The fada is an accent over a vowel.
Á -Aw, like the the aw in paw.
É - like the 'ai' sound in 'faith'
Í - sounds like 'ee' in 'meet'
Ó - sounds like the 'oa' in 'boat'
Ú - sounds like 'oo' in food
This is how to type a fada. On a computer, press AltGr at the same time as you press the vowel. On your phone, if you hold your finger down on the letter, different variants of that letter will appear

They're really beautiful names and meanings. Speaking of, Tadhg means: poet/ storyteller/philosopher, ( fitting). Each of the little ones names are character descriptions of gentleness and goodness, with old stories attached, and/ or maybe parents named them in honor of people they knew.

@@harimauindia5775Well, by a general search, there are a lot of real people with these names in the arts throughout Irish history. I'm limited in knowledge about the ancient myths, and can only go by the narrow scope online. One involved a druid, a woman turned into a deer, who was then helped by another druid to find a safe place to become human again, etc. It seems that the lesson might be that deer deserve compassion, and so do women. Offering sanctuary is important.

My great grandmother was full Irish and married into a family of mixed irish-english-scottish so called loyalists. They treated her and her kids terribly and basically disowned them when their son died. My grandmother married a British-Irish man and they fled to Canada partly to get away from his family who were not great people either.
I’m learning Irish to reconnect with my matrilineal line. Thanks for sharing these names as it gave me a chance to practice my reading to pronounciation skills. I love that Irish is both phonetically consistent and full of very old knowledge (such as that you should address any old woman you encounter with respect because she might be An Cailleach).
Being a settler on Unceded and stolen land, my heart yearns to be in right relationship with the land. I try my best to repair some of the damage my fathers father did here, but there is a part of me that wishes to go home to the parts of Europe that my family left and kick out the bastard nobility and restore the land to how it was before they cut down all the forests and displaced and broke us as people.
Anyway, thanks for your work, it brings me a great deal of joy to know that there are other people who see through the lies and want justice in the world. Free Palestine 🇵🇸 ✌️

Can't stop laughing, which is a good thing.
