"Jacob was no match for anyone in this field?" You mean no one was a match for him! Great video. I am so grateful that you post these races. We would have a difficult time finding this footage without your outstanding efforts.
His running economy / form is so damn good. He never looks like he’s “pushing” like other elite runners. Just looks smooth and effortless at every pace.
Great video I can hardly wait till Jakob finish he's business on the track and starts tackling the half and full marathon he will be the greatest miler ever to move up to the marathon I think he can do it he's running economy is godly
There’s some very interesting and likable runners of both genders right now. But I’m with you, I love watching him get after it and dominate. He seems to win with a vengeance. I’m here for that right now. As for the creator of this content….thanks. I really like your coverage of these races and athletes. Cheers running fans
Great. I hope he will finally compete in the World Cross-Country Championships, February (?) 2026 in Florida. He did run the junior race in Denmark in 2019 and finished about 12th.
Mike, it's a MUCH bigger deal in the US! ( Highschool/College). I come from Germany but have been a XC athlete in the US (highschool ) . ... Not even close!
Now it's time for him to take on the world and defeat the east Africans and become the first European in decades to win the world cross country championships.
You should do a video on Jameson Williams (Detroit Lions WR) about how he was almost a Pro Track and Field athlete. This would align perfectly with The Noah Lyles vs Tyreek Hill beef and could even stir it up enough to get them to race. This would be God’s work for the Track and Field Community. Anything to get Tyreek and Noah to Race lol
@@pete5691 wel to be fair it was a fast and short race... 7.5 km, crippa is better on longer distances compared to Ingebrigtsen... And yes Jakob is better overal but Crippa is still an outsanding athlete - 3x Euro champion - 13.02 5k -27,1 10k - 59.26 half marathon
Schrub won last year was heavily influenced with a lot of factors. And one of them I believed is because Jakob was injured and not competing in the previous years. But I still believe schrub and cripa was really great in this discipline. It just that they were lived the same era as Jakob,
Thx for the coverage. Great video, as usual. I wish these XC races were truly XC and not run on manicured fields in parks. Real, grueling uphills and narrow descents, leaping over streams, battling through longer grasses. Would be far more entertaining and less predictable.
In the women's race, Italy's Nadia Batocletti dominated and became the first female athlete to win European cross-country titles in Under-20, Under-23 and Seniors. The only male athlete to do so is fellow Italian Andrea Lalli. Jakob Ingebrigsten could have done so as well if he had ever competed at least one year in the U-23s.
Tells you everything you need to know that Jakob was far too good to compete at U23 level by that stage. A senior title is always better than an age group one. His legacy will be superior to Lalli's.
Dear Total Running Productions, I have checked everywhere on the internet, but I cannot find out why cross country running is NOT in the Olympics. Imagine a team of 5 runners and a team competition also being included!
There has been talk of adding it, but in a very modest, scaled-down format. Perhaps a relay or such. It would never be as big and competitive as the World Championships, with six (formerly nine) Kenyans, Ethiopians, Moroccans, etc.. And would the best runners do it, with track events the following week?
@@markovelikonja5399 regarding the best middle distance runners opting out to be too tired, I would be only one big 10k race for the guys and one 5k (probably) race for the women. There wouldn't be heats. As an athlete, you only get a finite number of chances to win an olympic gold. This would give them another chance per 4 year cycle.
@@markovelikonja5399 This is the reason. Scheduling difficulties etc. It will give countries that pump out distance runners in huge numbers a massive advantage. Ethiopia, Kenya have so many runners that they can afford to not have their best and still stand a chance to podium. Many other countries can't.
He is just 24 thats insane. I believe he might actually break all those records!! 3K record is by far the most insane accomplishments I have seen in distance running
Estimates are a bit off here. They actually went through 4119 metres in 11:58, which is 2:54/km, so I don't quite know where the 4.5km figure at 13:45 comes from but it's quite far off. Jakob did accelerate, of course, but not so much that he did 3.3km in 8:31.
So for seniors the race was 7.8k, not 7.5k. It's still a total disgrace how they are shrinking the distances at Euro Cross. Can't wait untill XC for us will be a 200m sprint across a potato field.
Hey everyone im writing a story about a professional XC league in the US and I need team names and xc courses. If anyone has any ideas for either of those that would be awesome!
Taking a rapid look on the WR list one can see the short interval of distances per each winner that suggest high specialization to beat a world record: El Guerrouj on 1,5 to 1,6 km, Ingebritsen on 2 to 3,5 km. Cheptegei on 5 to 10 km… I don’t trust Ingebritsen can beat even 5k record, maybe 1,5k but there are people who pass a lot of time on a single distance. Also genetics can be quite important on metabolic pathways that can decide the range of best performances of an athlete. Training is quite specialized also, spreading distances was never a good strategy in top 10 world best marks
@@pete5691if he put 3 seconds into komens 3k record then that should put him 5 seconds ahead over 5k which would just break the wr but sub 12:30 I don’t think we’ll see for a very long time

His still finished the half marathon in 63m 13s, despite stopping to take a breather :-). Amazing
He literally enjoying his run 😂. congratulations for taking the gold medal for Norway and also for cripa for securing the 2nd position as well 🙌🏼

But not run in a park. Run in the rough country with steep hills, streams, woods, etc.
Yes, with hazards! :)
Amazing run. Jakob looks like he is just out for a afternoon run not this crazy pace. Incredible runner.

Love it you did not ask us what we thought about it. Lol
Post race Jakob said he plans to run the 1500 in Lievin. We might very well see the first sub 3:30 indoor there the 13th of February 2025.
Let's not forget that despite "dying" after 10k during the Copenhagen Half, he broke the Norwegian 10k road record with a time of 27:27.
Jacob's still got it!!!
