It's probably the loss of radio and the rise of the internet that allowed it but still. I enjoy seeing young people finding the good stuff that holds us together as people. If you decide to do Rakim just know that before his era, most rap was very simple nursery-rhyme type rapping. Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-ONE, Kool G Rap and a couple others came and completely changed the way rappers rapped. Rakim is the one credited with evolving rap to what it is today so much so that people basically separate rap to before Rakim and after Rakim. The others also played a huge part in the dramatic evoltion of rap like Big Daddy Kane who is my personal favorite, but Rakim was technically the first. 😅 Anyone feel free to correct me on anything.
