after 15 years still im always listening to this song, and always enjoying it ,
Tomi Joutsen's growls are so amazingly deep and intense. I'd love to know how he does it. Stellar performance from one of the best bands to grace this planet.

I first read Kalevala when I was 6 or 7 and I was enthralled with its beauty and power and then when I first heard Amorphis, and it was the Tales album, it was love from the first note.

you hear the guy growling and you think 'yeah, definitively worshiping satan', until you discover that the lyrics are about birds flying by the sea waves...
It is a translation of Kalevala (Finnish mythology), where the old wizard Väinämöinen is saved from a rock in the sea by a giant eagle (Poem 7:43-56). I am quite sure that's where the giant eagles came to be in the Lord of the Rings...
@@DjKorppi Cool thanks for pointing at that... So the castaway was the wizard, and the bird came to his rescue? Indeed looks like Tolkien was a big kalevala fan...
