You shouldn't need supports if you rotate it flat. Also, I don't think you should even use supports, especially if the supports go up into grid part of the print. There are a lot of small strands so if any supports are touching it, it would very likely break off those strands removing the supports!
It should point the same way as a regular sundial. So north if you're in the northern hemisphere and south if you're in the southern hemisphere. Use the actual time to calibrate :)
I won't even try to attempt a half-assed explanation, instead, I'll direct you to the inventor who explains it so clearly :) th-cam.com/video/wrsje5It_UU/w-d-xo.html
How can your sundial match clock time when they only agree 4 times each year? Ever heard of the equation of time? Ever heard the fact that location in your time zone has to play a part in how you interpret what your sundial says? Come on, man.
It's not supposed to match clock time exactly. It's supposed to give you the approximate time based on the sun's position like any other sun dial. The only plus of this one is that it's in 20 minute intervals instead of an entire hour. Also you would have to adjust it manually 4 times a year if you don't have anything that does it for you which in sure there are ones that exist by now that auto adjust
Is their a stone version Id like to know. Could you use this for when your in a bunker you would just have to find a way to point the shadow inside and have that thing outside. Solar Tubes lights could help put the shadow down. I want to figure out how to display the shadow inside the bunker so you can have a shadow clock displaying inside the bunker.
This is legit cool . Very creative.

Humans find this 4,000 years from now, And it baffles them.
Hahahaha. I would agree, however, I don't think this PLA will last more than 4 years :)
Cool
Wow…the worst possible explanation of the digital sun dial. Did you even finish kindergarten? Ridiculous
