    It's a great technique! When I use it on rivers, I cast downstream and hold the lure against the flow. It's then being worked by the current so anything you with your rod is extra. You can literally hold it static and still catch! Good vid as always, Ginge!

We get the place to ourselves regularly. Nobody there fishes like we do. We have had bags of multiple large perch there. And really it is our first choice to fish. Even with a long drive and expensive ticket. Dropshot heaven. I am gutted to not share but so many places I fish have been wrecked for us by the noob invasion. Possibly my favorite rig for bass and panfish... Really can catch large and small species with the right bait.
    Its tempting to keep it static... This is fine in a current etc. but don't be afraid to drag it along rocks or near laydowns. That weight makes a lot of vibration and noise and will draw fish in.
    Tight lines.

    I notice you've put the lures on the hook as you would with a jighead. Instead try putting the hook through the head of the lure so that it sits on the bend of the hook, allowing it to move around more freely. Doesn't affect the hookup rate because of how they inhale it.

    • @jonasrf4630
      @jonasrf4630 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is this thing that literally everybody says about the dropshot being a small fish method? My experience is the exact opposite. It is at the point where I think everybody is doing it wrong lol. My setup is a 25g 2.7m rod and usually a half ounce weight and three or four inch lure. Size 4 hooks are about the smallest I use. A 1/0 is not unusual for me. You say the perch you catch is a big one for the dropshot but that has become an average size for my wife and I. I do have an ultralight setup but it just doesn't get used that much. Usually now I just leave it in the car. Or use it for short range stuff. Dropshot is most definitely NOT a small fish method.
