I still haven’t gotten around to painting mine yet, but it’s just so darn cute!! I think you should try it, so I can live vicariously through you. 😂 I’m dying to see one done!
Love this! I want to do my own and use my own photos, do you or anyone who may see this have advice on getting the actual paint to match to your colors like when you buy a kit? Idk if there is a way to get the exact color mixes. Thank you!
Hi there. I have a vintage PBN kit from the 1970's that is unpainted. But I would need help getting the correct paint colors to finish the project. I have google searched what it should look like finished, but that's all I have to go by. I like this method, but I'm not sure how to acquire the paints
No, it’s a very simple {and free} online software. I made this video back during Covid when we were all in quarantine and stuck at home. I was hoping it would give us something to do while we sat and waited for half an eternity for our kits to arrive. 😂 Basically, you would just select colors of paint similar to what it suggests or mix your own.
It absolutely is and it will save me about $150 bucks instead of ordering a PBN kit of a photo of my dogs I can make it myself and be all that more meaningful !!!
Ooooo I love this idea. I had no clue they made such! Even more of a reason why I need to buy a computer. C’mon stimulus check. I’m still waiting. 🤦🏻♀️
You haven’t gotten a stimulus check yet?? Wow! Well, you’ll know I’ve been spending mine on paint by numbers and supplies to do for videos. 😂 I’m trying to buy USA to help with the economy, so at least there is that. 😉
This is really cool! My husband is about to have spinal surgery and I've been looking around for stuff he can do to regain his motor skills. I'm curious though, where do you get your paints? I didn't quite catch that in your video.
You’re welcome! This is such a cute, easy way to try PBN for the first time or to stay busy while you wait for some to come in. I’d love to know how it works for you!
YES, regarding the watercolor paper if you have a printer that can print on the thickness of it. You also need to make sure your printer has waterproof ink. For acrylic paintings, I have the 60-piece set of Arteza acrylic paints as a affordable option, but I use my Schipper acrylic paint set & PBN leftover paints as my go-tos for anything I’m going to paint like this.
Hi there Thank u ever so much Iv just come across ur vlog its amazing Im no good on computers but do u think i will b able to try it as iv got dyslexic I wood love to try it Please can u tell me is the numbers bigger than the paint by numbers ones as i m new at this and i try to do one and had trouble seeeing the numbers so i wondered if i can make the picture a bit bigger so then the numbers will also b bigger Lovelyy vlog thank u 💖❤💘💛💙💜💚💟
I would think that as long as your printer accepts the paper, that you could absolutely do that! I wonder if the lines and numbers would show through, but if we used some gouache, it might work better. I’ve been dying to try a PBN with watercolors, but I just can’t find them anywhere. I’m an idgit for not thinking about doing this. 😂 This is such a great idea! I see a video in our future 🤣.
I have an HP, and I cannot remember which one. It’s just an inexpensive printer that prints on standard size paper. It would require a large format printer to print a larger size. I didn’t look to see if the canvas paper was available larger, since I knew my printer wouldn’t accept it.
If you meant the color to mix, I just use the printed palette or the palette on the screen and match it as closely as possible. It isn’t an exact science, but neither are those paints we get in kits. For this painting, I would take a base of pink and add a little white to change the value of the paint, and add some other tones of pinks to create the tone I need. I don’t know if you have seen my “Paint Mixing 101” video, but that is the gist of it! I hope this helps 😊.
It doesn’t have to be exact. But I’d mix up my palette before I start and put each color in a paint pot...numbered, just like the ones you’d get in a kit.
I’m trying it right now and it’s taking ages to go to a paint by numbers picture. I’ve been waiting for 7 minutes. Shall I just click off it or wait even longer
That’s what I had to do, The more colors you select, the longer it takes, so I just clicked it and walked away until it made a palette. Since it’s free, I hate to complain about how long it takes, but it does take quite a while!
That is NOT canvas paper, it is canvas sheet, they are 2 different things. Never, ever put canvas sheet through a laserjet printer, only an inkjet/deskjet. Canvas paper, that is paper with a canvas texture on it can go through a laser, canvas sheet cannot.
That is so cool. I didn't know that existed. You gave me a new idea to try after I finish my current project. :)
I thought it was a great way to pass the time! Let me know if you try it. I haven’t painted mine yet.
Thank you for the excellent tutorial. Bless you!
You created a artist.
Maliyah Jackson yay!! 🥰
So much fun! I have several kits to keep my busy but might try this just for fun. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this.

You are welcome! 🥰
If you then stretched that onto a frame would it distort the paint by number outline?
Not at all! I typically stretch my paintings onto stretcher bars after I'm done, and they are perfect!
Where do you buy your Paint?
Do they give you the option to buy the paints corresponding to the PBN?
No, it’s a very simple {and free} online software. I made this video back during Covid when we were all in quarantine and stuck at home. I was hoping it would give us something to do while we sat and waited for half an eternity for our kits to arrive. 😂 Basically, you would just select colors of paint similar to what it suggests or mix your own.

Melanie B’s Creative Studio still have not received mine. Idk what’s going on. 🤞🏻🙏🏻
Karen Williams ugh, I hate that!!

How bout the paint where will you get it
Very useful!!!! Thank you!!!
You’re welcome! This is such a cute, easy way to try PBN for the first time or to stay busy while you wait for some to come in. I’d love to know how it works for you!
What kind of paint did you use? Would this work with watercolor on watercolor paper?
YES, regarding the watercolor paper if you have a printer that can print on the thickness of it. You also need to make sure your printer has waterproof ink.

Hi there

I wood love to try it

Lovelyy vlog thank u
💖❤💘💛💙💜💚💟
Where did u buy the paint colors to paint the flamingo?
I mix my own paints to match the palette it comes up with, or you can use ones that are left over from other paint by numbers kits. 😊
@@MelanieBsCreativeStudio ok. 🌷
Where do I join the group. I love all your videos. So informative
Hi!! I always put the link in the description below the video, but it is hard to find. Here you go: Facebook: facebook.com/groups/melanieb/
😊
Hi! Thank you so much for this. May I know what printer did you use?
I just use a cheap HP. I don’t even know what model it is.
@@MelanieBsCreativeStudio hahahahahaha i do understand that. Thank you so much for your response.
Can this be printed by a 200gsm or 300gsm watercolor paper too? I really want to try this as well!
Which printer do you use to print it on canvas?
Can i print it on a bigger canvas?
Thanks
I have an HP, and I cannot remember which one. It’s just an inexpensive printer that prints on standard size paper. It would require a large format printer to print a larger size. I didn’t look to see if the canvas paper was available larger, since I knew my printer wouldn’t accept it.
So I went to see what size the canvas paper comes in, and the largest I found was 9”x12”. You would need a large format printer for that size.
How do you know how to chose the color
If you meant the color to mix, I just use the printed palette or the palette on the screen and match it as closely as possible. It isn’t an exact science, but neither are those paints we get in kits. For this painting, I would take a base of pink and add a little white to change the value of the paint, and add some other tones of pinks to create the tone I need. I don’t know if you have seen my “Paint Mixing 101” video, but that is the gist of it! I hope this helps 😊.
That was insightful, ma'am. But,I have a doubt regarding the canvas paint. How can we use the exact shades of colours?
It doesn’t have to be exact. But I’d mix up my palette before I start and put each color in a paint pot...numbered, just like the ones you’d get in a kit.
@@MelanieBsCreativeStudio Thank you for your suggestion. 😊

I’m not computer savvy at all. 5:19 all that information on how to mix your colours is confusing me. It just looks like code to me.
How s the paint?
You mix it yourself off the palette that is created in the software, or you can use leftover paints from other painting kits. 😊
Came in recommendation after purchasing. >:(
I don’t understand what you mean.
That is NOT canvas paper, it is canvas sheet, they are 2 different things. Never, ever put canvas sheet through a laserjet printer, only an inkjet/deskjet. Canvas paper, that is paper with a canvas texture on it can go through a laser, canvas sheet cannot.
