    Always good to have some ground clearance left in case you need to do this! These new trucks here in NA all sit lower than 4wheelers, basically glued to the pavement and it ain't no good.

      Over the road trucks ( pavement ) these days are a mass of plastic fairing for aerodynamics and some have pretty low exhaust as well. But there would be the on/off road heavy hauling construction/logging/oilfield down there as we have a lot of that up here in northern Alberta. Fairing etc isn't going to cut it on a farm for too long and neither is a Texas bumper that just about scrapes the pavement LOL.

      @@charlesb4267 I do this sort of work in the steel delivery business in a 20 yo Aerodyne with a 600hp, 2000ft/lbs Cummins Sig (ours Cummins engines were uncorked - even valve cover has a riveted placard Not For Sale In Continental USA).
      Those Cummins Sigs are a good powerful engine here - I digress; so my (company) truck was repurposed from interstate B-Double use and let me say slowly but surely all the aero stuff on it has been torn off from drains like this to branches up top from farm deliveries. I do a lot of this work.
      Mine has 8x airbags and about 0 suspension travel. Getting stuck is nearly always caused by a steer wheel going in a ditch or hole unbalancing the drive and with the inter-axle lock in, the diagonally opposite wheels just spin. It has no cross locks. Not ideal for farm deliveries.
      Inter-axle almost useless but not quite.

      Hendrickson Walking beams, no shackles under this old girl. the chassis is Aussie steel, as strong as they come. This truck has been making these sort of manoeuvres for over 45 years.

    • @charlesb4267
      @charlesb4267 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jakeminogue The walking beams sure kept the power to the ground as I know full well the style of Peterbilt air suspension I have would have caused wheel spin at minimum and more then likely spun out and putting the 4 way lockers on to turn a sharp corner is a no no. That an oldie but shows what its capable of ( and the driver knows how to handle it ) .
